Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the capital structure of sharia banking in Indonesia during the period 2011–2015. This research uses quarterly time series data, which are analyzed by multiple regression. The sample used in this research consists of eight sharia banks in Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. The independent variables in this study are company size, company growth rate, income stability, and asset structure, while the dependent variable is the capital structure. The analytical tool used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that company size, company growth rate, income stability, and asset structure have a significant effect on capital structure. The F-test results indicate that the variables of company size, company growth rate, income stability, and asset structure simultaneously affect the capital structure. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the factors considered by banks in determining their capital structure are the composition of assets and the income earned. Therefore, sharia banking in Indonesia needs to optimize both income and total assets owned.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has a multidimensional impact, including threatening family resilience. Psychological pressure, as well as an increase in the burden of household domestic work due to concentrated activities (work, school) at home, can give rise to family conflicts that lead to domestic violence and divorce. This study aims to offer a Mubadalah concept as a perspective and methodology in building family resilience. The results show that (1) Mubadalah is a perspective of reciprocity between men and women in carrying out their gender roles both in the domestic and public area so that one does not hegemonize over another but a relationship that supports, cooperates, and helps each other; (2) Mubadalah can be a method of reading texts and contexts around family issues; and (3) Mubadalah is an Islamic moderating perspective between gender and patriarchal regimes. This perspective allows for a balanced relationship and partnership between the two sexes and is not just a transformation of thoughts from patriarchy to matriarchy. Through approach a companionship and non-hierarchical relationship between family members, family resilience can be built.

Abstract

A lack of understanding of religious texts, anthropocentric views, and the absence of integral human consciousness within the universe are among the causes of environmental damage. Understanding the prophetic environmental message in the hadith is one way to address these problems. The terms related to preserving the environment in the hadith are ḥafiẓa and ra‘ā, while those associated with destruction are fasada and halaka. By using a thematic approach to these terms in various hadith texts, several basic ideas about the prophetic environmental message delivered by Rasulullah (PBUH) can be identified. In preserving the environment, the prophetic messages include maintenance goals, inclusive ownership, positive contributions, use based on function, sustainable programs, limited use, and joint supervision in utilizing the environment. In contrast, environmental damage includes exploitative goals, exclusive ownership, negative contributions, incorrect use, unsustainable programs, unlimited use, and self-supervision. The religious texts on the environment in the hadith are not merely preserved texts. These texts should continually be brought to life in order to generate new interpretations in response to existing environmental phenomena.

Abstract

Religious education in primary schools has often been used merely as a complement to the learning process. Government attention and commitment to developing religious education remain limited to fulfilling the obligations mandated by existing legislation. The thematic and integrative approach in Curriculum 2013 provides new hope for religious education, enabling it to be integrated with other subjects in the learning process. The implementation of Curriculum 2013 was driven by the emergence of deviant behavior among students, ranging from moral decline to the erosion of students’ character. The new breakthroughs introduced in Curriculum 2013 are expected to address various social issues in education. This paper seeks to reveal the integration model of religion and science in the new curriculum, particularly through the unification of subjects. This integration is carried out by incorporating basic competencies into themes related to nature and the environment in daily life. The integration of subject materials into several themes is expected to help students develop a holistic understanding of the material, rather than a partial one.

Abstract

This article discusses the function of fatwa, specifically the Tarjih fatwa in the field of family law. So far, Islamic law is still considered not dynamic and limited to only one legal function, namely nahi munkar (social control), while the function of amar makruf (social engineering), which emphasizes encouraging good deeds in a general and practical sense, has not been optimized. This situation creates the impression that Islamic law is losing its relevance. This article aims to explain the function of Tarjih fatwa for the community. The study applies a literature review using a sociological approach. The results indicate that law (fatwa) is no longer viewed as an independent variable separated from other elements, but rather as a dependent variable, similar to social norms and other cultural identities. Tarjih fatwa is intended to direct society toward desired goals, eliminate inappropriate habits, and create new patterns of behavior. In other words, the function of Tarjih fatwa can be utilized as a means of influencing society (law as a tool of social engineering).

Abstract

This paper aims to trace the thought of Fiqh K.H. Ahmad Rifai as a form of protest against Dutch colonialism, which resulted in the suffering of people in various regions. Through a qualitative approach, by collecting data from various sources—both literature and interviews with witnesses of history, this study concludes that the resulting fiqh product is oriented toward resistance against the colonial government, which is considered to be kafir. People who support the colonial government are labeled as ungodly; therefore, it is considered illegal for them to serve as prayer imams as well as to conduct marriages.
