Abstract

There has been a wide gap between the approach to education in kindergarten/early childhood education and elementary school. It has contributed to the suboptimal children's learning process when they are in elementary school. This research aimed to provide an understanding and steps to be taken to eliminate the gap between educational approaches in early childhood education and elementary school. Researchers chose literature review as the research method, which went through the stages of designing, conducting, analyzing, and writing the reviews. The research showed that the fundamental thing about the learning transition from kindergarten/early childhood education to elementary school was that all parties had the same understanding and perception that children aged 7 – 8 years in elementary school were still in the early childhood phase. At that age, they should learn in a fun way to introduce various basic concepts taught through games. Furthermore, collaborative sharing between kindergarten/early childhood education and elementary school teachers so that everyone could understand each other’s position. Furthermore, the will to change following the learning pattern with kindergarten/early childhood education – elementary school transition strategy, which in this case was more dominant in intervening with teachers at the elementary education level. It means that elementary teachers had to learn more from kindergarten/early childhood education teachers in terms of organizing fun learning.

Abstract

Society believes that ranking can be extrinsic motivation for students to improve learning performance, achievement, and student achievement. Ranking also makes it easier for schools to find out the quality of schools, formulate policies, and select colleges to enter. On the other hand, ranking triggers "competition" not only among students, but also between parents. The pressure that children feel to always "achieve" in this case to win in class, is also getting higher. However, reflecting on the quality of Indonesian education, the rankings did not function as expected. This can be seen from the results of the 2018 PISA test which showed Indonesia was ranked 72nd out of 77 countries. The research aims to understand the purpose and effectiveness of the learning process based on performance-oriented goals in education and to find alternative learning methods that are more effective in motivating students through learning process orientation. The method used in this research is library research, namely research carried out by reading, studying and recording various literature or reading materials that are appropriate to the subject matter. The results of the study explain that basically ranking is no longer relevant for use in schools because it will encourage performance-oriented goals in students. This condition is exacerbated by the infrastructure, facilities, and number of teaching staff that are not in line with the existing learning demands. There is a need for a system change that is more oriented towards learning-oriented goals to maximize the learning process and revive students' interest in learning.

Abstract

The teaching of Karmaphala is the arrangement of cause and effect in Hinduism. Karma (movement) is the cause, and Phala (result) is the effect. Karmaphala Ngaran Ika Phalaning Gawe Hala Hayu means that Karmaphala is the final result of good or bad deeds. This movement of existence is like a mill wheel, like the turning of a wheel that expects the second to be below and above, according to setting goals and collisions. Karmaphala is classified into three parts: Sancita Karmaphala, Prarabda Karmaphala, and Kriyamana Karmaphala. The literary sources end with the doctrine adopted by Hindus to navigate the sea of lifestyle. As new knowledge, it demands humans to make choices quickly. Thinking about how people behave is suggested to accommodate this. However, many are trapped by preferences to follow trends that forget the noble values of faith. This research technique was descriptive qualitative, using sources that could be applied to the research. This study aimed to determine the perspectives of the concept of Hinduism teachings, especially Karmaphala, as the law of reason and influence in the pillars of Hinduism.

Abstract

One of the efforts made to re-explore Susastra texts is the Niti Sataka text because the Niti Sataka text discusses 100 Shlokas about ethics and morals. Before practicing ethics in the community, it is better to apply it daily at home or with their family. These two words have a relationship with each other. In meaning, ethics and morals are often interpreted as the same even though they are different. Ethics are moral philosophy, while morals are our good and bad behavior. For example, Hinduism does not allow killing. Morally, it is not justified but can be justified ethically, such as killing animals for sacrifice during the war. In the Niti Sataka book, one of the teachings is that every educator needs to pay attention to students as they pay attention to their own children. Creating intelligence for all students is the main task of educators. Ethical and moral education is essential and related to one another because ethical education is related to human behavior or actions, namely good and bad deeds. In comparison, moral education makes humans moral or humane, especially in attitudes and how their daily behavior. Based on the explanation above, this study examined (1) what is the structure of the Niti Sataka text, (2) what are the main points of Hindu teachings in the Niti Sataka text, and (3) what is the form of ethical education in the Niti Sataka text. The theory used in analyzing the problem formulations was the theory of structuralism and the theory of hermeneutics. The type of research used was literature research. The method used in this study was the literature study method and the interview method. The study results indicated that (1) the structure of the Niti Sataka text is a shloka on ethics. The researcher chose several ethical shlokas, namely appropriate behavior, respecting good people, always doing good, helping selflessly, and being humble. (2) the main teachings of Hinduism in the text of Niti Sataka were manacika (thinking well), wacika (good speech), and kayika (good deeds). (3) the form of ethical education in the Niti Sataka text was descriptive ethics of ethics that can be seen critically and rationally in human attitudes and behavior and what human goals were precious in life. Normative ethics, attitudes, and behavior based on applicable norms or rules and ideal morality must be carried out by humans/society. Individual ethics, all things related to your daily life, will change according to your desires without being ordered by other people or your own family. According to all its dimensions, social ethics made humans aware of their responsibilities as humans in their lives as members of society.
