Abstract

Argumentative ability can be seen from the argumentation pattern that appears. This pattern needs to be evaluated to look over the quality of the argumentation to make the right problem-solving. This evaluation can be done by recognizing the components that make up the argument. This study goals to describe students' argumentation abilities in solving statistical problem based on Adversity Quotients (AQ). This qualitative descriptive research elaborated 39 students taking a statistical methods course. Subjects were grouped into three types of Adversity Quotient based on the ARP (Adversity Response Profile) questionnaire results. Data were obtained using statistical problem tests and interviews. The outcomes showed three levels of AQ found in students, namely Camper, Toward Climber, and Climber. Camper-type students bring up the Claim-Data-Warrant pattern. Students with AQ levels towards climbers tend to have the same pattern as the Camper type. In comparison, students with the AQ Climber type have a Claim-Data-Warrants-Backing pattern. Based on the outcomes of the study, it can see that students' argumentation skills are determined by the Adversity Quotient level they have when solving statistical problems.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan bahan ajar dengan penemuan terbimbing yang sarat dengan konstruksi pemahaman aljabar abstrak dengan pertanyaan-pertanyaan penggiring dan strategi bantuan sebelum diberikannya definsi atau dibuktikannya teorema. Pada tahap analisis peneliti mengidentifikasi dan merumuskan masalah. Pada tahap desain, peneliti membuat rancangan bahan ajar struktur aljabar dengan penemuan terbimbing dengan memperhatikan kemampuan abstraksi dan menulis pembuktian mahasiswa berdasarkan hasil analisis di fase sebelumnya. Pada tahap pengembangan, peneliti merealisasikan desain yang telah dibuat pada fase pengembangan kemudian divalidasi. Selanjutnya tahap implementasi dilakukan secara terbatas pada mahasiswa yang mengambil mata kuliah struktur aljabar. Bahan ajar yang telah divalidasi, direvisi, dan dinyatakan layak untuk diimplementasikan kemudian digunakan sebagai sumber perkuliahan dalam tahap implementasi. Pada fase ini, peneliti mengobservasi penggunaan bahan ajar dan mahasiswa melaksanakan evaluasi sesuai dengan masalah-masalah yang telah ditentukan dalam bahan ajar. Peneliti mengambil data tentang respon dosen dan mahasiswa tentang bahan ajar dan kemampuan abstraksi serta menulis bukti mahasiswa. Terakhir, pada tahap evaluasi, peneliti menganalisis hasil observasi di tahap sebelumnya. Analisis yang dilakukan meliputi analisis kepraktisan bahan ajar serta keefektifan bahan ajar terhadap kemampuan berpikir abstrak dan menulis bukti mahasiswa. Kemudian peneliti melakukan peninjauan kembali untuk perbaikan berdasarkan hasil analisis. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian penggembangan ini adalah bahan ajar yang dikembangkan valid, praktis, dan efektif dalam hal meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir abstak dan menulis bukti mahasiswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of a contextual approach on students' mathematical understanding and communication abilities in terms of their initial mathematical ability (KAM) in the Pythagorean Theorem class VIII material. This research was conducted at MTs Al Ihsan Serang City in the academic year 2019-2020 even semester. Methods The research method used is a quasi-experimental, data collection techniques, namely the ability to test mathematical understanding and communication, hypothesis testing using a two-way manova with a significance level of 5%. Before testing the hypothesis, the analysis prerequisite test was carried out, namely the multivariate normality and homogeneity test, the test results were the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. From the results of the analysis test using MANOVA, it can be concluded that: there are differences in the mathematical understanding and communication abilities of students who get a contextual approach with students who get a scientific approach, there are differences in the mathematical understanding and communication abilities of students who get a contextual approach with students who get a scientific approach between high KAM and low, and there is no interaction between learning approaches and KAM on students' mathematical understanding and communication skills Keywords: Contextual Approach, understanding, mathematical communication, KAM

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi terkait hubungan antara matematika dengan budaya, khususnya dalam kebudayaan masyarakat Jawa yang ada di Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan etnografi yang merupakan sebuah pendekatan teoritis dan empiris untuk mendapatkan deskripsi dan analisis mendalam tentang sebuah budaya berdasarkan catatan lapangan yang telah diperoleh dari hasil pengumpulan data. Fokus dalam penelitian ini yaitu eksplorasi etnomatematika dalam permainan tradisional masyarakat Jawa, seperti permainan tradisional Kubuk, Kubuk Manuk, Dhukter, Macanan, dan Jeg-Jegan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa permainan tradisional dalam kebudayaan masyarakat Jawa memiliki berbagai konsep matematika, seperti operasi bilangan, bangun datar, kesebangunan, kekongruenan, perbandingan bilangan, dan relasi. Selain itu, permainan tradisional tersebut juga mengandung nilai-nilai budaya, yang mulai ditinggalkan oleh sebagian masyarakat. Kata kunci: etnomatematika, permainan tradisional, budaya Jawa, etnografi. ABSTRACT The study aims to explore the correlation between mathematics and Javanese culture, especially in Yogyakarta. This research uses etnography approach, that is empirical and theoritical approach to get the description and deep analysis about a culture based on the field note which has been obtained from the data collection. The focus of this research is study etnomathematics in Javanese traditional games namely Kubuk, Kubuk Manuk, Dhukter, Macanan, and Jeg-Jegan. The result shows that Javanese traditional games have the concepts of mathematics, such as number operations, plane, congruence, proportion number, and relation. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan soal berdasarkan level berpikir, yakni dengan mengelompokkan soal berdasarkan level Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), Middle Order Thinking Skills (MOTS), atau Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) serta mengelompokkan soal berdasarkan jenis stimulus yang digunakan sebagai dasar pertanyaan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif jenis analisis dokumen. Dokumen yang dianalisis pada penelitian ini adalah dokumen soal Penilaian Akhir Semester Genap pada mata pelajaran matematika kelas VIII di tingkat SMP salah satu sekolah di Kota Semarang tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari tiga perempat dari keseluruhan soal berada pada kategori Middle Order Thinking Skills (MOTS), kurang dari seperempat dari keseluruhan soal merupakan soal Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), dan terdapat satu soal yang merupakan soal Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS). Soal kategori Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) paling banyak ditemukan pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar, sedangkan pada materi peluang belum ada soal yang memenuhi kriteria Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Jenis stimulus yang terdapat pada soal adalah gambar, daftar kata, penggalan kasus, tabel, dan diagram dimana penggalan kasus merupakan stimulus yang paling banyak ditemukan, yakni hampir sepertiga dari keseluruhan soal. Kata kunci: penilaian akhir semester, level berpikir, stimulus. ABSTRACT This research aims to describe the question based on the level of thinking, namely by grouping questions based on the level of Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), Middle Order Thinking Skills (MOTS), or Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and grouping questions based on the type of stimulus used as a basis question. This research is a descriptive study of the type of document analysis. The documents analyzed in this study are documents about the Final Semester Evaluation on the eighth grade mathematics subjects in one of the Semarang Junior High School in school year 2017/2018. The results showed that more than three-quarters of all questions were in the Middle Order Thinking Skills (MOTS) category, less than a quarter of all questions were Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), and there was one problem which was a matter of Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS). The problem with the category of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is found mostly on 3-D shape with flat faces materials, while in the probalility materials, there is no problem that meets the criteria of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). The types of stimulus found in the problem are pictures, word lists, fragments of cases, tables, and diagrams where the fragment of the case is the most common stimulus, that is, almost one third of the questions. Abstract

While reflective thinking practices are thought to be a factor in building bridges between a course of study and personal experience resulting in engaging and personalized learning activities, the present study examined the potential disparities in reflective thinking practices and how they influence preservice mathematics teachers' behavior. Underpinned by a positivist paradigm, the present study employed a quantitative research approach and a survey design. Data was collected from three hundred and fifty-nine mathematics student teachers who were preparing to become mathematics teachers once they had obtained a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree. Data collected was therefore analyzed through the use of descriptive statistics. Lifelong learning skills, self-assessment, self-belief, teaching awareness, and reflective thinking were all examined using a framework based on five components. Research findings revealed that while reflective thinking practices are often emphasized in teacher education programs, results clearly show that the process of reflective practices is conceptualized differently by female and male participants. Research findings also revealed that constructs such as lifelong learning skills, self-assessment ability, and teaching awareness have a more decisive influence on male participants than their female counterparts. This resulted in male participants having less perception of the usefulness of reflective thinking practices. Based on the findings, it was suggested that various support systems should be developed in mathematics teacher education programs to facilitate more independent and self-directed reflective thinking practices among both female and male mathematics students teachers. Abstract

Tujuan penalitian ini adalah menghasilkan bahan ajar matematika melalui pendekatan kearifan lokal pada materi trigonometri yang layak dan sesuai kebutuhan siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R&D) dengan menggunakan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahap, yaitu analyze (analisis), design (perancangan), development (pengembangan), implement (implementasi) dan evaluate (evaluasi). Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar angket validasi ahli materi dan ahli media, angket respon guru matematika, dan angket respon siswa. Berdasarkan penelitian diperoleh hasil validasi ahli dengan persentase 80% (layak), respon guru dengan persentase 79% (baik) dan respon siswa dengan persentase 78% (baik). Secara keseluruhan bahan ajar ini dapat di terima dengan baik oleh guru dan siswa didukung oleh hasil validasi dari para ahli yang menyatakan bahan ajar layak digunakan untuk kegiatan belajar. Kata kunci: bahan ajar, trigonometri, kearifan lokal ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to produce mathematics teaching materials through a local wisdom approach to trigonometry material that is appropriate and in accordance with the needs of students. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, that is analyze, design, development, implement and evaluate. The instrument used were questionnaire validation sheet material experts and media expert, mathematics teacher response questionnaire and student response questionnaire. Based on the research results obtained by expert validation with a percentage of 80% (feasible), teacher response with a percentage of 79% (good) and responses students with a percentage of 78% (good0. Overall this teaching material can be well received by teachers and studens, supported by validation results from experts who claim teaching materials are suitable for use in learning activities. Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of mistake and causes of the XI grade students of SMA Negeri 31 Jakarta TP. 2019/2020 made a mistake in solving the problem of an algebraic function derivative application. The method of this research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data was obtained by conducting tests and interview online. The respondents were drawn from 6 XI class in SMA Negeri 31 Jakarta. Each student's work was analyzed to describe the types of mistakes using the Newman analysis procedure, then an interview was conducted to describe the factors that caused students to make mistakes. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the types of mistakes found when students solve problems in the application of algebraic function derivatives are 1) reading mistakes, that is, incorrectly writing the functions listed in the questions, 2) mistakes in understanding, in the form of misinterpreting what is known and asked about, 3) transformation mistakes, in the form of students' inability to choose procedures to solve problems appropriately, 4) process skill mistakes, in the form of incomplete student work, miscalculation, 5) conditioning mistakes, in the form of students' inability to show the final answer. The contributing factors are that students do not understand the derivative application material of algebraic functions, students are in a hurry to solve the problems, different types of questions given are different from the questions exemplified by the teacher, and rarely make conclusions at the end of the answer. Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan bahan ajar English Mathematics melalui e-learning terhadap pemahaman geometri mahasiswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) dengan desain Pre-test and Post-test Group. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa Pendidikan Matematika yang mengambil mata kuliah English Mathematics pada tahun akademik 2016/2017 yang terdiri dari empat kelas. Sampel penelitian adalah salah satu kelasnya yang dipilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Pengumpulan data melalui tes pemahaman geometri yang dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah tindakan. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji t one sample. Banyak kemudahan yang diperoleh dengan menggunakan e-learning diantaranya bahan ajar dapat diunggah sebelum pembelajaran di kelas, diskusi dapat dilakukan tak terbatas waktu dan ruang dan kuis online dapat dilakukan untuk mengetahui pemahaman mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar English Mathematics materi Geometri melalui e-learning efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran terhadap pemahaman geometri mahasiswa. Kata kunci: bahan ajar, English Mathematics, pemahaman geometri ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effectivenes of learning material through e-learning in terms of student’s comprehension of geometry. This study is quasy experimental research with Pre-test and Post-test Group design. The population is all the Mathematics Education students who taked English Mathematics course in academic year 2016/2017. The sample consists of one class that is selected using random sampling. Data is collected by comprehension test of Geometry before and after treatment. Hypothesis test is anylized by t test one sample. There are some conveniences obtained using e-learning such as material learning can be uploaded before learning in the class, discussion can be done not limited by space and time, and online quiz can be done to know the student’s understanding. The result show that learning material of English Mathematics for Geometry theory through e-learning was effective in terms of student’s comprehension of Geometry. Abstract

Ethnomathematics is a mathematical concept that exists in a culture. Using ethnomathematics in learning is one of appropriate method. Through learning mathematics that is associated with culture such as traditional games, it create a comfortable learning atmosphere so that students are interested in learning and mathematics seems easy and fun. The positive thing obtained from the concept of ethnomathematics with traditional games is that students can understand the concept and the transfer of values well. This study aims to determine the development of research on ethnomathematics in traditional games. The articles analyzed amounted to 166 of the 370 articles extracted with PoP (Publish or Perish) from the Google Scholar database over a period of 50 years. This research was conducted using bibliometric analysis method using PoP (Publish or Perish) and VOSviewers applications with the keywords "ethnomathematics" and "traditional games". Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that undergraduate and postgraduate and international journals have the most significant influence on citations compared to other journals, which is supported by changes in h-index. The results left 166 articles (a decrease of about 55.13%); data on citations also changed, with 1073 citations (decrease by 86.16%) and 214.60 cites/year (increase by 41.09%). This shows that research on ethnomathematical concepts through traditional games in mathematics learning, is a research topic that has been rising for the past few years based on the increase in citations every year with further exploration this research topic can develop widely and can be another method that can be applied to mathematics learning.
