Abstract

This study investigates the role of performance appraisal, work motivation, and training effectiveness in enhancing the productivity of sales personnel in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies in Indonesia. A quantitative approach was adopted, using a structured questionnaire to collect data from 305 sales personnel across various FMCG companies. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that all three factors—performance appraisal, work motivation, and training effectiveness—positively influence the productivity of sales personnel. Among these, work motivation showed the strongest impact, followed by performance appraisal and training effectiveness. The results highlight the critical importance of integrating these factors into human resource management practices to improve sales performance. This study provides valuable insights for FMCG companies seeking to enhance the productivity of their sales teams through targeted performance management, motivational strategies, and training programs.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are central to Indonesia’s economy, contributing more than 60% of GDP and employing the majority of the workforce. In East Java, MSMEs account for nearly 59% of regional GDP, underscoring their critical role in inclusive growth. Despite this importance, MSMEs face persistent challenges, including limited access to credit, low digital adoption, weak innovation, and vulnerability to competition. While prior studies have explored these factors separately, few have developed an integrative framework linking business strategies, competition, and regulation to sustainability. This study examines the effects of seven strategic dimensions, credit facilities, digital marketing, innovation, pricing, distribution, circular economy, and inclusive partnerships, on MSME sustainability. Business competition is tested as a mediating variable and regulation by the Indonesian Competition Commission (KPPU) as a moderating variable. Data were collected from 396 MSMEs across handicrafts, food and beverage, and service sectors, and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Results show that digital marketing, innovation, pricing, distribution, and inclusive partnerships significantly enhance sustainability, while credit facilities and circular economy practices have limited direct impact. Competition mediates the effects of strategies on sustainability, and regulation strengthens both strategic and competitive impacts. The study contributes theoretically by integrating Resource-Based View, Competitive Advantage, Institutional Theory, and Circular Economy perspectives into a holistic model, and provides practical insights for policymakers and MSME actors seeking to enhance resilience and long-term sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effect of supervision and training on employee work effectiveness with competence as a mediating variable at the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Nduga Regency. The approach used is explanatory quantitative with a saturated sampling technique involving all 85 BPBD employees. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire using a 1–5 Likert scale. Data analysis included validity and reliability tests, linear regression, path analysis, and Sobel's mediation test. The results showed that supervision and training had a positive and significant effect on employee competence. In addition, supervision, training, and competence had a significant effect on work effectiveness. Competence was found to significantly mediate the influence of supervision and training on work effectiveness. These findings indicate that strengthening supervision, improving the quality of training, and developing competence are strategic factors in improving the work effectiveness of BPBD employees in disaster-prone areas such as Nduga Regency. This study has important implications for policy makers in planning human resource development in the disaster management sector.

Abstract

The post-pandemic era has brought significant challenges and opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, particularly in terms of financial management, digital adaptation, and strategic orientation. This study examines the influence of financial literacy, digital innovation, and entrepreneurial orientation on MSME performance in the post-pandemic context. A quantitative research approach was employed, with data collected from 135 MSME owners and managers using a structured questionnaire measured on a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25. The results indicate that financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on MSME performance, demonstrating the importance of sound financial knowledge and management skills in supporting business recovery. Digital innovation is found to have the strongest positive influence on performance, highlighting the critical role of digital technology adoption in enhancing competitiveness and market reach. Entrepreneurial orientation also shows a significant positive effect, emphasizing the importance of innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking in navigating post-pandemic uncertainty. Simultaneously, financial literacy, digital innovation, and entrepreneurial orientation significantly explain variations in MSME performance. These findings suggest that strengthening internal capabilities through integrated financial education, digital capacity building, and entrepreneurship development is essential for improving MSME resilience and sustainable growth in Indonesia’s post-pandemic economy.

Abstract

The increasing environmental problems faced by Indonesia have encouraged both consumers and businesses to pay greater attention to environmentally friendly products. This study aims to analyze the influence of green marketing, brand image, and environmental awareness on consumers’ decisions to purchase environmentally friendly products in Indonesia. A quantitative research approach was employed using a survey method involving 135 respondents who had experience or familiarity with green products. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire measured using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using SPSS version 25. The analysis included validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that green marketing, brand image, and environmental awareness each have a positive and significant effect on purchase decisions, both individually and simultaneously. Among these variables, environmental awareness has the strongest influence on consumers’ purchasing decisions. These findings indicate that effective green marketing strategies, supported by a strong brand image and high consumer environmental awareness, play a crucial role in encouraging the purchase of environmentally friendly products. This study provides empirical evidence on green consumer behavior in Indonesia and offers practical implications for companies and policymakers in promoting sustainable consumption.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of the Purbaya Effect within the framework of Indonesia’s fiscal policy, focusing on its implications for market dynamics, economic growth, and fiscal credibility. Addressing a research gap in the limited academic discourse on the Purbaya Effect—with prior studies largely confined to general fiscal issues such as deficits and government spending—this research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach. Two articles were analyzed using NVivo to identify dominant themes and word frequencies. Findings reveal that the Purbaya Effect signifies a paradigm shift toward expansionary fiscal strategies, characterized by increased government spending, interest rate reductions, liquidity injections, and the strengthening of MSMEs and the real sector as drivers of growth. Thematic analysis highlights the dominance of terms such as economy, consumption, fiscal, investment, and financing, underscoring the role of fiscal policy as an economic accelerator. Strategically, the Purbaya Effect shapes market perceptions, public expectations, and fiscal credibility, while opening pathways for long-term development through infrastructure investment and human capital enhancement. Nonetheless, expansionary fiscal measures carry risks of inflation, budget deficits, and crowding out, necessitating cross-sectoral coordination and macroprudential oversight. This study contributes to macroeconomic literature by introducing a novel conceptual lens and offers practical insights for designing inclusive, credible, and sustainable fiscal policy in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of economic policies led by Purbaya in maintaining financial system stability and their contribution to achieving Indonesia’s economic growth target of 6 percent. Using a qualitative approach based on policy analysis and macroeconomic data, the study also employs word cloud techniques to identify dominant keywords in policy documents and Purbaya’s economic narratives. The research evaluates the foundations of structural policies, fiscal–monetary synergy, and the readiness of strategic sectors as engines of growth. The findings suggest that achieving 6 percent growth requires a consistent policy mix, improvements in labor productivity, accelerated regulatory reforms, and strengthened domestic and foreign investment. In addition, the study highlights external and domestic risks that may hinder target achievement, including global uncertainty, financial market volatility, and structural challenges in the MSME sector. These findings provide a comprehensive overview of opportunities and obstacles in realizing sustainable economic growth, while offering policy recommendations to enhance national economic resilience.

Abstract

Indonesia has enormous potential for zakat and waqf as instruments of Islamic philanthropy, but their utilization has not been optimal in addressing fundamental social issues. Zakat management still tends to be consumer-oriented, while waqf is more directed at the construction of places of worship, so that their function as instruments of sustainable social protection has not been optimally achieved. This study aims to analyze the synergy model between the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), the Indonesian Waqf Agency (BWI), and the Social Service in managing zakat and waqf based on maslahah daruriyyah and fiqh al-awlawiyyat. This study uses a qualitative method with a juridical-normative approach through a literature review of relevant fiqh literature, regulations, and institutional data. The results show that the low social impact of zakat and waqf is caused by inaccurate allocation priorities, weak institutional integration, and a lack of orientation towards meeting the basic needs of vulnerable groups. This study concludes that institutional synergy is needed to direct zakat as a supporter of short-term social financing and waqf as a provider of sustainable social infrastructure, so that Islamic philanthropy can play an effective role in strengthening social welfare.

Abstract

Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, has enormous potential for zakat and waqf to support the social welfare and economic development of the people. However, there is a significant gap between this potential and the realization of its collection and utilization. One factor influencing this condition is state policy, which tends to implement centralized zakat and waqf management through Law Number 23 of 2011 and Law Number 41 of 2004. This study aims to analyze the impact of this centralized policy on the sustainability of community-based zakat and waqf management organizations, and to assess the extent to which the state regulatory framework is able to optimize the potential of Islamic philanthropy without eroding social capital and public participation. The method used in this study is a conceptual approach through a literature review by examining various scientific sources, theories, and relevant Qur'anic and Hadith arguments. The results of the study indicate that although centralized policies provide benefits in terms of accountability and administrative standardization, these policies also have the potential to suppress the role of community-based philanthropic institutions due to bureaucratic burdens and rigid legal-formal structures. Therefore, this study recommends the implementation of an adaptive and inclusive hybrid governance model, which balances the formal legality of the state with the social legitimacy of the community to optimize the sustainable management of zakat and waqf in Indonesia. As an academic and policy implication, this study emphasizes that optimizing zakat and waqf cannot rely solely on legal approaches and administrative centralization but must also consider the sociological dimensions of Indonesian Muslim society, which are based on community and faith. By synergistically integrating the roles of the state and community, zakat and waqf governance is expected to increase institutional effectiveness while maintaining public participation, the core spirit of Islamic philanthropy

Abstract

The rapid development of financial technology (fintech) has transformed financial access and operational practices among micro businesses, particularly in emerging economies such as Indonesia. This study aims to examine the impact of financial technology implementation on the sustainability of micro businesses, with financial inclusion serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative research approach was employed using data collected from 150 micro business actors through a structured questionnaire measured on a Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS 3) to evaluate both measurement and structural models. The results indicate that fintech implementation significantly enhances financial inclusion and directly improves business sustainability. Financial inclusion also has a significant positive effect on sustainability and partially mediates the relationship between fintech adoption and sustainable business performance. These findings suggest that digital financial innovation contributes to micro business resilience when supported by inclusive financial access. The study provides theoretical contributions to digital finance and sustainable entrepreneurship literature while offering practical implications for policymakers and fintech providers in promoting inclusive digital ecosystems for micro-enterprise development in Indonesia.
