IJOLEH: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF EDUCATION AND HUMANITIES is a scientific journal published biannually in May and November. IJOLEH seeks to develop knowledge and practice in the three domains of its title (Language, Education, and Humanities) and the relations between them. It welcomes research articles, literature reviews, and position papers dealing with any languages (mother tongues, global English, indigenous, minority, heritage, and endangered languages), as well as any educational disciplines, and Humanities. IJOLEH encourages submissions from a variety of disciplinary approaches. It also opens for studies into cultural content, literacy, intercultural and transnational investigations. Abstract

This study aims to determine the translation method used by students and the reasons they use it. This research is a qualitative research conducted on sixth semester students of English Education Study Program at Megarezky University Makassar. This study used five samples with purposive sampling technique. Researchers used instruments, observations, tests, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results of this study indicate that there are several translation methods used in translating by students, of the eight translation methods students only use four translation methods, namely word by word translation, literal translation, free translation, and semantic translation. Where students use two to four methods in translating, and the reason they use these methods is because these methods are easy to apply in translating. Therefore, the researcher concludes that of the eight methods, only four translation methods are often used by students because they are easy to apply.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out how much the effect of organizational culture, work discipline, quality of human resources in increasing motivation. This study used a quantitative method. This research was conducted in 6 (six) District offices, namely, Batang, Tarowang, Kelara, Arungkeke, Binamu, Turatea Districts. The research population was all employees in 6 (six) sub-district offices, a total of 113 people. Using a probability sampling technique, the questionnaire distribution was carried out in stages, where all respondents completed the questionnaire completely. The final sample in the study was 113 people. the procedure for collecting information is the distribution of questionnaires then filled in according to the questions that have been provided. information analysis using path analysis or path analysis with SPSS software version 25.0. The results showed that the direct effect of motivation on employee performance had the highest correlation value compared to other direct effects. Motivation possessed by employees is considered as a personal advantage of employees who are able to provide benefits to agencies because with these abilities individual characters are measurable which makes it easier for management to capture potentials in increasing agency goals. It can be concluded that there is an effect of organizational culture, work discipline, quality of human resources in increasing motivation.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether there is significant correlation between the students’ learning motivation, vocabulary mastery and pronunciation skill at SMPN 5 Langsa. The method of this research is quantitative with correlational design. The research object of this research is 55 students. The data were collected by applying test and questionnaire. Indeed, based on the result of the research, it showed that there is a positive correlation between students’ learning motivation and pronunciation skill at SMPN 5 Langsa, there is a positive correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and pronunciation skill, and there is a positive correlation between students’ learning motivation, vocabulary mastery and pronunciation skill. It can be concluded that students’ learning motivation gives contribution to both their vocabulary mastery and their pronunciation skill. Additionally, when students have high motivation in learning, it can be beneficial to them in order to improve their vocabulary mastery and their pronunciation skill.

Abstract

This study aimed to strengthen character education based on online learning for university students pasca covid-19. This study applied the qualitative research. This study was carried out at Universitas Bosowa students and lecturers. Results of study showed that character education is implemented pasca Covid-19 epidemic utilizing a distance learning approach (online), which was internet-based. The incorporation of character education based on online learning has an impact on attributes like religiosity, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence, democracy, curiosity, national spirit, peace-loving, social obligation, and responsibility. Character education based on online learning can have an impact on how children develop their moral beliefs, integrity, critical thinking, independence, participation in other activities, and responsibility. It can be concluded that a distant learning method (online) was used to implement character education under the circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic. Although there are some technical issues with using this system, and overall it can be used successfully.

Abstract

For everyone, learning a new language is a really difficult undertaking. It's considerably more difficult to receive an education in a foreign tongue. It takes a lot of time to learn how to read, understand, speak, and write flawlessly in a language. ESL students who attempt to navigate this challenging experience while living abroad encounters numerous language and communication issues. This qualitative case study research project's main goal was to identify the educational technology tools that participants used to advance their language and communication abilities. This study is based on the research question: "To what extent do Indonesian higher education students use technology on their own, outside of the framework of ESP class, to develop English language and communication skills?. The findings of this study imply that students use technology in their daily life for a variety of functions, particularly for their education. The use of educational technology tools is also considered as assisting teachers and students in becoming more successful, effective, and useful individuals in their daily lives. As conclusion that using technology as learning media can enrich ESP students' speaking skill for Indonesian higher education students.

Abstract

The main problem in this study is how to influence the active learning strategy of the Power of Two type on the learning outcomes of Indonesian language students in grade III SD Negeri 3 Batu, Sidrap Regency. This study aims to determine the effect of the active learning strategy of the Power of Two type on the learning outcomes of Indonesian language students. This research is an experimental research using pre-experimental designs with the type of one-goup pretest-posttest design which only has one group of subjects which is carried out without any comparison group and is given treatment using an active learning strategy type The Power of Two. The data analysis technique used the t-test to test the effect of using the Active Learning Strategy Type The Power of Two on students' Indonesian learning outcomes. The results of the research using inferential statistical analysis using the t test formula, it is known that the calculated t value obtained is 13.64 with a frequency of dk = 20–1 = 19, at a significance level of 0.05 obtained t table = 2.093. So, t-count> t-table. It can be concluded that the application of The Power of Two method has an influence on the learning outcomes of Indonesian in class III SD Negeri 3 Batu, Sidrap Regency.

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka at Sekolah Penggerak and to analyze the obstacles faced in the of Kurikulum Merdeka at Sekolah Penggerak. Sekolah Penggerak in this research were SDN 2 Timoreng Panua and SDN 2 Sereang and the respondents were the principal and 2 learning committees in each school. So in total there are 6 respondents. The data collection procedure uses observation and interview that is semi-interview. This research uses qualitative methods as a research methodolgy. The implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka at SDN 2 Timoreng Panua and SDN 2 Sereang has entered its second year of implementation. Schools have begun to adapt to this new curriculum. The preparation of the KOSP has been carried out since the beginning of the Kurikulum Merdeka implementation. Then, it follows the making of teaching modules and the implementation of assessments. Because it is a new thing, of course there are obstacles faced by the school in its implementation. Especially at the beginning of the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka due to the lack of knowledge regarding the implementation of this Kurikulum Merdeka. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the impact of socio-economic status on the performance at SMP Negeri 2 Parigi, Gowa Regency. This study uses a correlational with a quantitative approach. The population in this study was SMP Negeri 2 Parigi teachers in Gowa Regency, totaling 18 teachers, Collection technique data by questionnaire. Data processing techniques using SPSS t test, namely for looking for a correlation between the variables X and Y. In calculating the hypothesis obtained value Sig 0.031. Data collection techniques through questionnaires. These results indicate that the Sig value is less than 0.05 (0.031 less than 0.05). This means that the hypothesis proposed by the researcher is accepted, namely there is positive and significant influence in the study entitled "Status Influence Socio-Economy on the Performance of Economics Teachers in SMP Negeri 2 Parigi can be tested the truth. Thus it can be concluded that socioeconomic status is very influential and significant on teacher performance. In the sense that this research able to answer the truth of the hypothesis proposed.
