Abstract

This study aims to explore the learning style and motivation of Batu Lanchang Vocational College students during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study involved five students studying at Batu Lanchang Vocational College, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. This study uses both qualitative and quantitative methods. It is conducted during three psychoeducational sessions. Data analysis using content analysis techniques. The results found that the respondent's learning style is not bound to one style only and it is diverse. But it depends on the convenience and comfort of the respondent (dominant). From the aspect of motivation, respondents are more inclined to intrinsic motivation which is internal motivation because they want to achieve goals based on internal desire. Next, the relationship between learning style and student motivation is that respondents have experiences that can be used as motivation and reinforcement, namely intrinsic motivation, there is a relationship between learning style and student motivation. The findings give a good effect on students for students to choose their learning style better.

Abstract

The main problem in this study is the low discipline of student learning related to attendance at school, doing assignments, participating in lessons, and disobedience to the rules. The purpose of this research is to improve student learning discipline. Hypothesis testing was carried out by statistical analysis using the Mann Whitney formula at a significant level (0.05). The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the level of student learning discipline before and after participating in positive reinforcement technique group counseling activities included 4 students having a low level of learning discipline and 4 students having moderate learning discipline. The level of student learning discipline after participating in group counseling services with positive reinforcement techniques increased more than before attending services. The results showed that group counseling services with positive reinforcement techniques were effective in increasing student learning discipline.

Abstract

Counseling methods with integrated information and communication technology in schools are interesting to discuss. Recently the conditions of the COVID-19 Pandemic have made all educational activities in schools online, and in Indonesia. We predict the use of information and communication technology in high school students to be easier to implement. Because they are more familiar with information and communication technology than students at the primary school level. This qualitative study aims to describe the experiences of students in secondary schools receiving online counseling. The semi-structured interviewed involved eight students, both chat messages and video call session by WhatsApp application. Participant of study are students has experience attending online group counseling via video conferencing. Data on the benefits of online group counseling, experiences in cyberspace, and barriers were analyzed thematically. The findings in this study explain that online group counseling has provided a solution, and some students feel it is precious to help. Their insight and self-help increase on the issues discussed. It was so convenient for them that some students expressed relationship school counselor with students-client. Network problems and smartphone overheating are obstacles. The implications of the results of this study as a reference for improving the implementation of online counseling.

Abstract

The research objective was to apply group counseling and symbolic modeling technique to improve students' academic resilience during online learning at SMP Negeri 15 Palu. This action research used Kemmis and McTaggart's model was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research participants were eight students who got the lowest academic resilience questionnaire scores on online learning. Data collection techniques were questionnaires, observation instructions, interviews, and documentation.The research results indicated that the average level of student academic resilience during online learning is pre-action by 48.86%, increasing to 65.90% after the first cycle is carried out, and the second cycle increased to 79.54%. The success rate of cycle II has been improved based on the results of reflections from the first cycle. Therefore, it can be concluded that group counseling with symbolic modeling technique can affect increasing students' academic resilience during online learning at SMP Negeri 15 Palu.

Abstract

Abstract The literacy level in Indonesia is relative low. However, different conditions show that parents want their children to be able to read and write before entering primary education. This is challenge for teachers at the early childhood education level to choose appropriate learning strategies to build a culture of literacy in Hardika Jaya Kindergarten. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were five teachers at Hardika Jaya Kindergarten. This study use the documentation method with research instrumens in the form of questionnaires and observations sheets. The research data were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method, which include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Then triangulation of data, researchers, and theory was carried out. The results showed that teachers used direct strategies to introduce books to children through observing books, reading, telling stories, playing role, asking questions, and motivating children. The facilities and infrastructure provided by the school are good enough to support children’s literacy activities. Keyword: strategist; literacy; book; early childhood education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perhatian terhadap masalah prokrastinasi akademik yang kerap menjadi penghambat pencapaian prestasi akademik maksimal di kalangan mahasiswa semester 6 Program Studi S1 Bimbingan dan Konseling di Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi pengaruh self-esteem dan self-control terhadap pengendalian prokrastinasi akademik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner. Subjek penelitian melibatkan mahasiswa semester 6 sebagai sampel. Analisis data dilakukan dengan regresi berganda, dan hasil menunjukkan bahwa self-esteem dan self-control memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pengendalian prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa semester 6. Implikasi praktis dari temuan ini adalah perlunya upaya meningkatkan self-esteem dan self-control mahasiswa sebagai langkah untuk mengurangi perilaku prokrastinasi akademik. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa faktor-faktor psikologis seperti self-esteem dan self-control dapat menjadi fokus dalam memahami dan mengatasi prokrastinasi akademik di kalangan mahasiswa, yang pada akhirnya dapat berdampak positif pada prestasi belajar mereka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengaruh self efikasi dan emotional stability terhadap tingkat kecemasan akademik di kalangan mahasiswa. Kehadiran pandemi COVID-19 telah menimbulkan sejumlah tantangan serius, termasuk masalah kesejahteraan mental seperti kecemasan. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan instrumen penelitian, dan analisis data menggunakan metode statistik, khususnya regresi linear berganda, untuk menguji hipotesis penelitian. Temuan dari penelitian ini menyediakan wawasan tentang peran self-efficacy dan emotional stability dalam mengelola kecemasan akademik pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini memiliki relevansi penting dalam konteks tantangan psikologis yang dihadapi mahasiswa selama pandemi COVID-19. Hasil penelitian ini direncanakan akan dipublikasikan dalam Jurnal Bisma The Journal of Counseling. Implikasi dari temuan ini dapat membantu lembaga pendidikan dan konselor dalam merancang intervensi yang efektif untuk mengatasi kecemasan akademik di masa krisis seperti pandemi.
