Journal of Educational Management Research is an international peer-reviewed journal which publishes original and significant contributions to educational management, administration, and leadership, in its broadest sense, from all over the world. This includes primary research projects in schools and further vocational and higher education institutions. This journal encourages contributions that respond to important issues in management education. Contributions may be either conceptual or empirical and are welcomed from any topic area and country so long as they primarily focus on management or organization in education. Although our core areas of interest are organizational behaviour and management in education, we are also interested in leadership, public relation, human resource management, social issues in management, financial management, organizational development, critical management studies, etc. Authors are strongly encouraged to have their work reviewed and evaluated by their colleagues prior to submission for formal editorial review.

Abstract

This study analyzes factors influencing employee job satisfaction at Rocket Chicken Ampana Branch, focusing on workload, sales targets, working conditions, Time management, work standards, promotion opportunities, and supervision. The research design used a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and audiovisual recordings from seven informants. The results show that, despite challenges such as high workloads and customer complaints, employees feel satisfied thanks to a clear system, supervisor support, and opportunities for career growth. Motivational factors such as incentives, fair compensation, and promotion opportunities play an important role in balancing job demands and personal satisfaction. The study also found that work experience and flexible Time management increase employee job satisfaction. The practical implications of this research are the importance of creating a work environment that supports employee wellbeing and provides equal career development opportunities for all employees.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of employee training on service quality at Hotel Lawaka in Ampana City. The method used is a qualitative design with a case study approach, in which data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, document analysis, and audio-visual documentation. The study's results indicate that employee training at Hotel Lawaka plays a significant role in improving employees' technical skills, professionalism, and work attitudes. Training that involves competent instructors, relevant materials, and interactive methods grounded in hands-on practice enhances service quality and guest satisfaction. Although there are challenges related to employee burnout and limited training, adaptive instructors and tailored training methods that address employees' practical needs have proven effective. This study contributes to the literature on employee training in the hospitality sector and offers practical solutions to improve service quality in hotels with limited resources. The findings also provide recommendations for hotel management to improve employee training programs in a more systematic and structured manner.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the quality of public services at the Bailo Village Office, Tojo Una-Una Regency, using a qualitative research approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with seven informants, including community members and village staff, and through direct observation. This study identified five dimensions of service quality based on the SERVQUAL model, namely reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibles. The results showed that most services met community expectations, but there remained inequalities in Time efficiency and service speed. The dimensions of reliability and responsiveness were generally good, but some officers were inconsistent in providing efficient service. The dimensions of assurance, empathy, and tangibles also demonstrated good quality, though they still needed improvement, particularly in facility maintenance and the consistency of employee empathy. This study provides recommendations for improving employee training, Time management, and supporting facilities to improve the quality of public services.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of hospital service quality on patient satisfaction at Ampana Regional Hospital, focusing on the role of healthcare professionals in improving this quality. Using a qualitative case study design, this study analyzed the five SERVQUAL dimensions reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibles that influence patient satisfaction in the inpatient ward. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten informants and participant observation. The results showed that services at Ampana Regional Hospital generally met patient expectations, particularly in terms of reliability and responsiveness. However, there were still shortcomings in initial communication regarding hospital facilities and a lack of written information, such as leaflets. This study also highlighted the importance of therapeutic communication and empathetic care in improving patient satisfaction. Practical implications of this study include the importance of hospitals maintaining facility quality and improving communication to enhance the patient experience. At the same Time, theoretically, it strengthens the SERVQUAL model in the context of hospital services.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of Human Resources (HR) play a crucial role in the success of any organization, including hospitals. A strong work culture, encompassing the values ​​of professionalism, cooperation, excellent service, innovation, and exemplary behavior, can improve the quality of hospital services. However, the implementation of work culture at Regional General Hospital still faces technical and facility constraints that hinder its effectiveness. This study aims to evaluate the impact of work culture implementation on HR performance and service quality. The method used was a qualitative case study with an explanatory approach, using purposive sampling to select eight informants consisting of five nurses and three patients. Data were analyzed using the Nvivo 12 Plus application for Windows. The results showed that although work culture values ​​had been implemented, obstacles such as information system disruptions, changes in BPJS policies, and limited facilities still hampered optimal implementation. This study suggests the need for infrastructure improvements and managerial support to enhance the implementation of work culture and service quality. In conclusion, the synergy between a strong work culture and adequate system support will improve service quality in hospitals.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of Islamic education in preventing genocide, emphasising values such as respect for life, justice, compassion, and human brotherhood (ukhuwah basyariah). This research is motivated by the increasing violence based on ethnic, religious, and cultural differences that have led to conflict and genocide. The method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach, examining Islamic religious texts such as the Quran and Hadith, as well as related literature, to analyse the principles of Islamic education for fostering tolerance and reducing violence. The results show that the principles of hifzh al-nafs (the protection of life), the prohibition of injustice, and the teaching of compassion in Islamic education play a crucial role in building a society that respects human rights and prevents genocidal behaviour. In conclusion, Islamic education can be an effective tool for preventing genocide by instilling the values of justice, compassion, and brotherhood. This research contributes to an understanding of the application of Islamic education in preventing violence and building global peace.

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in human resource development, and students' decisions about which university to attend influence the quality of the education they receive. This study aims to analyze the impact of social media, campus reputation, academic service quality, and tuition fees on students' decisions in choosing Al-Azhar University Medan. A quantitative approach using multiple linear regression was used to analyze data from questionnaires completed by 289 respondents. The results showed that all four variables significantly influenced students' decisions. Social media and academic service quality had the most significant influence, followed by tuition fees and campus reputation. This study suggests the importance of integrating digital marketing and improving service quality to attract prospective students. This study's contribution enriches the understanding of the factors influencing student decisions, particularly at private universities. It can serve as a basis for developing more effective marketing strategies in higher education. Future research can expand the scope by considering external factors.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the Village Head's leadership style and employee work discipline at the Padang Tumbuo Village Office, Ampana Kota District, Tojo Una-Una Regency. Quality human resources (HR) are crucial in achieving organizational goals, particularly in the public sector. This study employed a qualitative design with a case study approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews and direct observation. The results indicate that the Village Head's democratic-participatory leadership style, with directive and transformational touches, plays a significant role in improving employee work discipline. The Village Head provides appreciation, motivation, and direct involvement in work activities, creating a positive work atmosphere. However, challenges remain in discipline, such as tardiness and a lack of understanding of duties and responsibilities. This study suggests the importance of regular training, a more effective attendance system, and objective performance evaluation. The contribution of this study is to enrich the literature on the influence of leadership style on employee discipline in village government.

Abstract

The rapid digital transformation in the post-pandemic era has significantly reshaped the educational landscape, making it essential for institutions to adopt modern marketing strategies to remain competitive. This research explores the role of relational marketing in enhancing institutional reputation, student loyalty, and retention, particularly in the context of Indonesian educational institutions. The study aims to understand how relational marketing techniques, including CRM systems, digital branding, and social media engagement, can be effectively implemented to foster long-term relationships with students, parents, and alumni. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was employed to synthesize relevant studies from 2021 to 2025, focusing on relational marketing in education. The findings reveal that relational marketing strategies significantly contribute to student satisfaction and retention, with technology playing a pivotal role in personalizing services and communication. However, challenges such as limited resources and technological adoption remain. The study concludes that overcoming these challenges and integrating relational marketing strategies effectively can ensure the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of educational institutions in a digital era.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of rewards and punishments on teacher performance. The research involved 32 teachers, with data collected through questionnaires and documentation. The study used quantitative methods, including multiple linear regression analysis. Results indicated that rewards had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (sig. 0.009 < 0.05), while punishments showed no significant effect (sig. 0.598 > 0.05). Both variables combined explained 32.1% of the variation in teacher performance (R² = 0.321). The theoretical implications suggest that reward mechanisms, as a form of positive reinforcement, are crucial in enhancing teacher motivation and performance, aligning with Skinner's reinforcement theory. The practical implications point to the importance of schools developing more varied and consistent reward systems while carefully managing punishments to avoid negative impacts on teacher morale. This study contributes new empirical evidence to the understanding of reward and punishment systems in public Islamic schools, providing insights into improving teacher motivation and performance through effective incentive management.
