Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of group guidance services using discussion techniques on the self-confidence of students at the Abadi Aisyiyah Orphanage in Parepare. Self-confidence is an essential aspect of individual development, especially for students living in orphanages who often experience limited social support. This research employed a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sample consisted of 30 students selected randomly. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The results showed that group guidance services using discussion techniques had a positive and significant effect on students' self-confidence. This is indicated by the t-value of 6.121 with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. The regression equation obtained was Ŷ = –13.080 + 0.909X, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.572. This means that 57.2% of students' self-confidence is influenced by group guidance services using discussion techniques. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that group guidance services using discussion techniques are effective in improving students' self-confidence. Therefore, this service is recommended to be implemented continuously in orphanage development programs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of co-curricular activitiesAwaken the Soul and Bodytowards the formation of responsible character of students at SMP Negeri 18 Bandar Lampung. This study uses the methodafter the factUsing a quantitative approach, the research subjects were students of SMP Negeri 18 Bandar Lampung. The data analysis technique used was simple linear regression. The results of the study showed that co-curricular activitiesAwaken the Soul and Bodyhas a significant influence on the formation of students' responsible character. This influence is reflected in the implementation of various activities, such as the healthy lliving campaign, Satria Baik, anti-bullying and violence outreach, andself-assessment, which encourages students to take responsibility for their own choices and reactions, focus on internal change, act based on personal values and commitments, be independent of external goals, and avoid blaming, complaining, and making excuses. The most prominent indicator of responsibility is seen in students' ability to act based on personal values and commitments and be independent of external goals, while the Satria Baik indicator shows relatively lower achievement. These findings confirm that co-curricular activities not only play a role in shaping students' personal responsibility, but also strengthen attitudes of mutual respect and social responsibility within the school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe community perceptions of multiethnic marriages and analyze their impact on the formation of civic disposition in Pura Wiwitan Village, West Lampung Regency. The research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving multiethnic couples, community leaders, and village officials. Data analysis included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that multiethnic marriages occur due to intense social interaction and proximity among ethnic groups. Community perceptions vary, with younger generations being more open than older generations who still strongly uphold traditional values. Multiethnic marriages have a positive impact on civic disposition, including tolerance, mutual respect, cultural adaptation, and unity. Furthermore, multiethnic families serve as a medium for internalizing civic values through deliberation, cooperation, and respect for social norms.

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the effect of media variation toward student Social Science learning motivation at the eighth grade of State Junior High School 4 Tambang, Kampar Regency. This research was instigated with the low of student learning motivation, including the lack of media utilization, a less conducive environment, and the lack of appreciation in learning. It was quantitative research with quasi experimental research type (nonequivalent control group design). The eighth-grade students were the population of this research, and they were 305 students. The research samples were the eighth-grade students of classes 4 (control group) and 5 (experimental group), and they were 60 students. Questionnaire, observation, and documentation were the techniques of collecting data. Based on the research findings and data analyses, there was a significant effect of media variation toward student Social Science learning motivation at the eighth grade of State Junior High School 4 Tambang, Kampar Regency, it could be identified from the score 2.72, it was modest effect (simple effect), and the effect size test stated that there was an effect of media variation toward student learning motivation. T-test showed that t table with df 58 and 5% significant level was 1.701. The score of significance was 0.000 lower than 0.05, and there was a significant difference so that the calculation result of observed was higher than t table, or 11.339>1.701. It meant that H0 was rejected, and Ha was accepted. It could be concluded that there was a significant effect of media variation toward student Social Science learning motivation.

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the effect of Team Games Tournament learning model toward student learning activeness on Social Science subject at State Junior High School 23 Pekanbaru.  This research was instigated with the lack of student learning activeness, including students who were less able to seek information, ask questions, discuss, and express opinions.  It was quantitative research with quasi experiment approach.  All the eighth-grade students were the population of this research, and they were 329 students.  The samples were 73 students, they were the eighth-grade students of class F and the students of class G.  Observation, questionnaire, and documentation were the techniques of collecting data.  The techniques of analyzing data were normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis test (independent sample t-test), effect test (effect size), and N-Gain Score test assisted with SPSS 25 application.  Based on the research findings and data analyses, there was a significant effect of Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model toward student learning activeness on Social Science subject at State Junior High School 23 Pekanbaru.  It was proven with the results of independent sample t-test that the score of tobserved was 3.507 higher than ttable 1.666, and the score of significance was 0.001 lower than 0.05.  The mean of student learning activeness in the experimental group was higher (97.70) than the control group (94.75), and the effect size score 0.56 indicated that the effect was in moderate category.  The results of N-Gain Score test also showed that the increase in student learning activeness in the experimental group was in high category with the mean 93.09%.  So, it could be concluded that Ha could be accepted, and H0 was rejected.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and empirically examine the effect of direct learning strategies on students’ learning outcomes. Direct learning strategy is a teacher-centered approach that emphasizes the delivery of material in a systematic, structured, and gradual manner, starting from concept explanation, example demonstration, guided practice, and independent practice. This strategy is considered effective, especially in helping students understand conceptual and procedural materials clearly and systematically. However, in practice, its effectiveness still needs to be proven through systematic research.This study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design. The research subjects consist of students divided into two groups: an experimental group that is taught using the direct learning strategy and a control group that uses conventional teaching methods. Data collection techniques include learning outcome tests to measure students’ cognitive abilities, supported by observation and documentation to strengthen the research data. The research instruments have been tested for validity and reliability to ensure the accuracy of the data obtained. Data analysis was conducted using statistical tests, such as the t-test, to determine the differences in learning outcomes between the two groups. The results indicate that there is a significant difference between students who are taught using the direct learning strategy and those who are taught using conventional methods. The experimental group shows a higher improvement in learning outcomes compared to the control group. This finding indicates that the direct learning strategy has a positive effect on students’ learning outcomes. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the direct learning strategy is effective in the learning process, particularly in improving students’ conceptual understanding and basic skills. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to consider the use of direct learning strategies as an alternative approach in teaching to enhance the quality of students’ learning outcomes. This study is expected to contribute to the development of more effective and efficient learning strategies in the field of education.

Abstract

This study examines the expatriate lifestyle as a social myth that is often linked to prosperity, luxury, and upward mobility. These representations are widely circulated through digital media and public discourse. They tend to hide the more complex realities experienced by individuals living abroad. This research uses a qualitative approach with an ethnographic orientation to understand how these meanings are formed and experienced in everyday life. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with informants who are connected to expatriate contexts. The findings show that the ideal image of expatriate life often hides financial pressure, social adaptation challenges, and psychosocial strain. The persistence of this myth also shapes how individuals define success and manage financial decisions. It influences how they evaluate their own well-being. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening financial literacy and increasing awareness of psychosocial well-being in facing socially constructed lifestyle expectations.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, which has so far focused more on textual aspects and memorization, is considered not yet effective in building students’ social character in a real sense. This study aims to investigate how contextual PAI learning strategies are implemented and how significant their influence is on the formation of students’ social character. The research method was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings show that the consistent application of the seven elements of contextual learning, namely constructivism, inquiry, questioning, learning community, modeling, reflection, and authentic assessment, can develop attitudes of mutual help, empathy, tolerance, and social responsibility among students. The success of the implementation is strongly influenced by the teacher’s ability to relate PAI materials to students’ daily lives, as well as support from a conducive school environment. This study recommends strengthening the competence of PAI teachers in designing context-based learning as a strategic step in creating a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent, but also morally upright and socially caring.

Abstract

Academic stress is a common issue faced by students due to the high academic demands. This study aimed to examine the effect of peer pressure on academic stress, with self-control as a moderating variable, among eleventh-grade students. An correlational quantitative approach was employed. The study population comprised 571 students, from whom a sample of 226 eleventh-grade students of Madrasah “X” was selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using the Student Life Stress Inventory (SLSI), Peer Pressure Inventory (PPI), and Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS). Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modelling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS version 4, which involved evaluating both the outer and inner models. The results showed that peer pressure had a significant effect on academic stress. Self-control also had a significant effect on academic stress. However, self-control did not significantly moderate the relationship between peer pressure and academic stress , among eleventh-grade students of Madrasah “X”. Based on these findings, schools are recommended to develop self-management skills programs to help students cope with academic stress.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of Pancasila Education teachers in fostering self-confidence in students at SMP Negeri 1 Sukoharjo. Self-confidence is a crucial aspect influencing students' courage to express opinions, participate in learning, and believe in their abilities. This study employed a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The study population was 256 eighth-grade students, with a sample of 64 respondents determined using proportionate random sampling. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires and interviews, and data analysis was conducted using SPSS. The results indicate that Pancasila Education teachers play a significant role in fostering student self-confidence, with indicators as educators (95.31%), facilitators (82.81%), and evaluators (87.50%). Students' self-confidence levels were also high, with indicators of courage to express opinions (87.50%), active participation in learning (71.88%), and confidence in their abilities (90.62%). Therefore, Pancasila Education teachers play a crucial role in fostering student self-confidence through active and participatory learning.
