Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has significantly transformed educational landscapes, yet many AI-powered educational platforms struggle with converting free users to paid subscribers. This study investigates the expectation-experience gap affecting AIEdu, an AI educational tool by PT. EDTH in Indonesia, which demonstrates high user acquisition (27.99% monthly growth) but low conversion rates (0.41% average). Using a qualitative approach based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework extended with Perceived Value, Satisfaction with Free Trial, and Price Sensitivity constructs, this research analyzes user expectations and experiences through semi-structured interviews with 12 participants. The study employs thematic analysis supported by NVivo software to identify patterns between market expectations and actual user experiences. Findings reveal significant gaps in five key areas: performance expectancy (surface-level content vs. deep adaptive learning), effort expectancy (onboarding friction vs. seamless access), social influence (peer validation vs. promotional exposure), perceived value (quota limitations vs. academic enhancement), and price sensitivity (energy-based vs. time-based models). The research proposes a strategic implementation roadmap using the Kano Model, prioritizing foundational improvements (content accuracy, technical stability) before enhancement features (premium value proposition, flexible pricing). Results indicate that addressing these expectation-experience gaps through curriculum alignment, simplified onboarding, enhanced premium features, and student-friendly pricing models can significantly improve conversion rates and user engagement in the Indonesian educational technology market.

Abstract

The telecommunication system in Indonesia faces serious challenges due to the misuse of SIM card data and devices with illegal IMEIs, as seen in the case of mass registration of prepaid cards using fake or stolen identities in 2018. This problem is further exacerbated by the circulation of black market (BM) phones that use unregistered IMEI to avoid network blocking. As a result, these security loopholes are used to support illegal activities such as account registration on online gambling platforms. This study proposes the application of Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) as a solution to improve SIM card data security and IMEI validation. ECC provides efficient and secure encryption methods to protect data, verify device authentication, and block illegal activities through telecommunication systems. The main contribution of this research is the development of ECC-based systems that can prevent the misuse of SIM card and device data, support the validation of legitimate devices, and tighten control over network access. The evaluation shows that ECC technology can be applied effectively in improving telecommunication security in Indonesia.

Abstract

The implementation of construction projects often faces various risks that can lead to delays, cost overruns, and decreased quality of work. One example occurred in the project to build a dormitory for students of the Riyadlus Sholihin Islamic Boarding School in Probolinggo City, which experienced a time deviation despite acceleration efforts. This shows the importance of implementing systematic risk management to identify and address potential risks from the beginning of project implementation. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach through the dissemination of questionnaires and interviews to related parties in the project. The analysis was carried out using the Severity Index method to calculate the level of probability and impact of each risk, as well as the probability and impact matrix to determine the level of risk significance. The dominant risk is then further analyzed to determine mitigation actions. The results of the study showed five risks with a "Very High" level, namely the preparation of the wrong work method, poor coordination between parts, the accuracy of completing work within a certain duration, poor planning and scheduling, and low labor productivity. Mitigation strategies are developed to reduce the impact of these risks, including through training, improved communication, the use of planning software, and strengthening the monitoring system. This research makes a real contribution to the risk management of construction projects in a more effective and structured manner.

Abstract

Technological advancements and digital transformation have significantly impacted business management, including the consulting sector. PQM Consultants faces challenges in managing inquiries, which are still manually handled using Microsoft Excel. This manual process results in fragmented data, delays in accessing information, input errors, and difficulties in real-time monitoring of inquiry statuses. These issues affect operational efficiency, data transparency, and timely decision-making. This research focuses on developing a web-based inquiry management platform through the Design Thinking methodology, aiming to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of inquiry handling at PQM Consultants. Adopting a qualitative case study approach, the study gathers insights through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document reviews involving consultants and support team members who are directly engaged in the inquiry process. Research participants consist of consultants and support team members directly involved in inquiry management. The study uses a Design Thinking approach, which focuses on solving problems through repeated refinement and actively involving users throughout the development process. This framework supports the development of creative solutions by deeply understanding user needs, defining key challenges, and continuously refining ideas through prototyping and testing (Costich 2021). The Empathize stage focuses on understanding user needs and challenges. The Define stage formulates the core problems specifically. The Ideate stage generates creative ideas as potential solutions. The Prototype stage develops an initial design of the platform, which is then tested during the Test stage to gather feedback for further refinement. The results indicate that the web-based inquiry management platform effectively addresses various challenges in managing inquiry data, such as access delays, input errors, and data fragmentation. The platform enables consultants to monitor inquiry statuses in real-time, access data transparently, and make faster and more accurate decisions.

Abstract

This research explores the challenges and strategies for achieving independent villages (desa mandiri) in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Despite significant government support through Village Funds (Dana Desa) as mandated by Law No. 6 of 2014, Banjar Regency remains the second lowest in the Indeks Desa Membangun (IDM) ranking due to underutilized local potential, low human resource quality, and weak institutional management. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with triangulation methods—interviews with key informants from the Village Community Empowerment Office (DPMD), field observations, and document analysis—this study identifies both internal and external factors influencing the development of independent villages. SWOT analysis reveals internal weaknesses such as limited digital literacy, inadequate participation of the community, and underdeveloped BUMDes (village-owned enterprises), along with external challenges like infrastructure gaps and market access limitations. To address these issues, five key strategies are proposed: (1) developing agriculture and livestock sectors through technology and digital training; (2) strengthening cooperation with universities and NGOs for capacity building; (3) optimizing BUMDes to manage and market village products digitally; (4) integrating village institutions with government and private training programs to enhance professionalism; and (5) leveraging regulations and government support to open market access and promote local agro-tourism. The results provide a strategic framework to accelerate village independence by combining technological innovation, institutional empowerment, and sustainable economic development.

Abstract

This research paper presents a comprehensive multimodal analysis of Thai Life Insurance’s renowned YouTube advertisement titled “The Gift.” The study aims to explore the intricate ways in which visual communication, through semiotic and emotional frameworks, constructs meaning and evokes affective responses in viewers. By employing semiotic theory alongside emotional response analysis, this paper investigates how the advertisement’s visual and narrative elements function synergistically to convey cultural values, social messages, and emotional resonance. Central to this analysis are the advertisement’s use of color symbolism, narrative structure, and emotional triggers, which are examined to understand their role in shaping audience interpretation and engagement. The methodology integrates qualitative content analysis and multimodal discourse analysis, focusing on the advertisement’s visual signs, symbolic codes, and emotional cues. The semiotic analysis deciphers the layers of meaning embedded in imagery, color palettes, and symbolic motifs, while the emotional analysis assesses how these elements stimulate affective reactions, fostering empathy and connection with the brand’s message. Key findings reveal that “The Gift” effectively employs culturally significant colors and a compelling narrative arc to elicit profound emotional responses, reinforcing Thai Life Insurance’s brand identity and social commitment. This study contributes to the broader field of visual communication by demonstrating the power of multimodal strategies in advertising to engage audiences both cognitively and emotionally, offering insights for scholars and practitioners interested in the intersection of semiotics, emotion, and marketing communication. The inclusion of diagrams illustrating semiotic models and emotional response charts further enriches the analytical depth of this research.

Abstract

Bridge infrastructure plays an important role in supporting connectivity and regional economic growth. However, in their implementation, bridge construction projects often face delays due to technical factors such as weather, soil conditions, as well as managerial and coordination constraints. One of them occurred in the Purworejo Bridge construction project in Mojokerto Regency which experienced a delay in progress of -14.88% in the 12th week of implementation. This delay requires accelerated efforts so that the project is not included in the critical contract category. This study seeks to examine the approach of accelerating implementation time through the Crashing method through increasing working hours (overtime) and calculating costs efficiently to mitigate delays. The methodology used includes the formulation of a network using Microsoft Project, the identification of critical paths through the Critical Path Method (CPM), and the calculation of acceleration costs based on Cost Slopes. The results of the analysis show that the acceleration of work can be achieved both technically and economically. This method allows the project to reduce delays, thus removing them from the classification of vital contracts. The study significantly improved the decision-making process for the timely and cost-effective implementation of development projects.
