The number of samples taken were 41 rice farmers who used hand tractors in the village of Rimbo Recap and the ones who used conventional technique 29 persons in Watas Marga village. The systems of farming was the same both in Watas Marga village and in Rimbo Recap. Sampling was conducted by interview using questionnaire to collect primer data and secunder data. The method of research was survey using the formula Slovin. Factors that affected the productivity were seeds 4.569 t count > t table of 2.564 and labor 8.936 t count > t table of 2.464t count > t table 2.042 and labor 8.936 t count > t table of 2.464 with 99% confidence level. Insectiside had significant effect on productivity of rice at 95% level. The value of t count was 2.479 > t table (2.042). T test had a negative value. Dummy showed decrease in productivity by 0.2077% if the farmer did not use a hand tractor. Incomes of farmers who used both tractors and conventional technique showed no significant difference. Income of farmers who used tractors was Rp. 9.014.727/MT or Rp. 11. 302.316/Ha and farmers' income whoutilize conventional technique was Rp. 9.041.365/MT or Rp. 11.349.945/Ha. The research method is based on the survey method (primary and secondary data). Descriptive methods, descriptive statistics, and methods of the Logical Framework Analysis (LFA) are used to analyse data. The results showed that the fishermen, in general, are in the productive age with the typology of the nuclear family; more than half of the fishermen have junior secondary education level; fishing experience is categorized long enough that 18.26 years; fishermen have the motivation to keep working as a fisherman and a hierarchy of compassion (safety needs) by 60%; technical and managerial skills possessed by fishermen in general is quite good but the managerial aspects of fishing is still not good. Abstract

The largest area of local coffee plantation in West Sumatera Province is in the District of Solok, that covers the area around 9,300 Ha, with the annual production of 8,500 Ton. There are two varieties of coffee in this District, arabica and robusta. The area of robusta coffee is around 7,700 Ha that are much larger than arabica of 1,600 Ha. Although the price of arabica coffee is much higher than robusta, farmers prefer to cultivate robusta coffee mainly due to its resistance to plant diseases, low maintenance cost and higher demand compare to arabica coffee. Since the Robusta coffee is the second largest of local plantation after casiavera in Solok. There is a need for the district government to get a suitable development not only for the benefit of local farmers but also for regional development of Solok district itself. This study applied descriptif qualitative method to analyze the interrelationship of agribusiness sub-systems and its potential aspect. The results shows that the interrelationship of four subsystems of the agribusiness of Robusta coffee agribusiness were not strong enough to face the influences from the external factors of the systems. This, then guided the recommendation to improve the competitiveness of the Robusta coffee, mainly by increasing the quality and appearance of its market form and its dairy products.
