Abstract

The head louse parasite (pediculus humanus capitis) is the cause of a common infection in tropical climates called pediculosis capitis. The food of head lice comes from the blood sucked on the human scalp. Various ways to deal with head lice are using lice combs and insect repellents (insecticides). Insecticidal liquid is a synthetic chemical containing permethrin, lindae, DDT malathion and carbaryl which can interfere with the human nervous system when used long-term. This study aimed to find various natural ingredients that have the potential as natural insecticides in overcoming pediculosis capitis. The method used was literature review through Google Scholar, ScienceDirect and ResearchGate websites. The results obtained are lime (Citrus hystrix), red betel (Piper ornatum), crimson (Annona squamosa), kirinyuh (Chromolaena adorate), pandan wangi (Pandanus amaryllifolius), bay leaves koja (Murraya koenigii L.), duku (Lansium domesticum corr), soursop (Annona muricata L.), eucalyptus (Melaleucalucalus L.), eucalyptus (Melaleuca cajuputi), garlic, shallots, coconut (Cocos nucifera), sembung rambat (Mikania micrantha), aloe vera (Aloe vera), jarak pagar (Jatropa curcas L.) and mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia) have the potential as natural insecticides in overcoming pediculosis capitis.

Abstract

Roasting can change the physical properties and chemical properties of coffee beans such as the composition of the chemical compounds contained in them, namely caffeine compounds. Caffeine is one of the compounds contained in coffee beans. It is necessary to analyze the differences in the roasting profile in the roasting process of coffee beans to find out if there is a difference in caffeine levels in coffee based on variations in roasting temperature. This study was conducted to determine the caffeine content in arabica coffee grown in Aek Sabaon Village, Marancar District, South Tapanuli Regency with variations in roasting temperatures. The roasting method is carried out in a modern way using a coffee roasting device equipped with a thermometer. The extraction method used is liquid-liquid extraction using chloroform as the solvent. The determination of arabica coffee caffeine levels with variations in roasting temperatures was carried out using the UV-vis spectrophotometry method using HCl 0.1 N as solvent. The results showed caffeine content in arabica coffee samples with variations in roasting temperatures with temperatures of 180°C, 200°C and 210°C respectively; 11.23%, 11.30% and 13.92%. Statistically, the test using ANOVA showed a difference in caffeine levels in the variation in roasting temperature which was not very significant because the significance of p > 0.05 and in the t Test it met the requirements of the significance value p < 0.05 so that it showed a free variable positive and significant effect on the bound variable.

Abstract

Nanotope™ as a monolayer nanoencapsulated vesicular delivery system, consisting of a membrane formed by phospholipids (lecithin) and cosurfactants. Nanotope™ is an Ultra-small Unilamellar Carrier (USUC) having an average globule size of 0-40 nm. The diameter of the globule size which is smaller than the size of the skin pores allows the active ingredients to penetrate the stratum corneum to reach the target. Natural active compounds such as catechin, alpha mangostin, quercetin, and ascorbic acid have great potential as active ingredients to be formulated in cosmetic preparations. However, these compounds have limited penetration into the skin. Therefore, the Nanotope™ delivery system is the best solution for encapsulating these active ingredients without reducing their effectiveness. Cosmetic serums, creams and emulgel are preparations that are most likely to be formulated with the Nanotope™ delivery system. This review article presents Nanotope™ preparation techniques along with their evaluations, as well as active compounds from natural ingredients that have the potential for cosmetic applications with the Nanotope™ delivery system.

Abstract

According to BPJS Kesehatan data, the number of health facilities that cooperate with BPJS Kesehatan does not necessarily increase, even in 2019 the achievements of the FKRTL that work together have decreased, even though every year NHI participants have increased. BPJS Kesehatan continues to try to optimize the NHI’s system so that the benefits can be felt by participants and health facilities as providers, one of which is an increase in hospital visits. This study aims to determine the effect of cooperation with BPJS Kesehatan on the number of hospital visits in Indonesia. This type of research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional study design. The research samples were all hospitals in Indonesia that were designated as referral hospitals and other hospitals were sampled using a sample size calculation. The selected sample was 532 hospitals. The statistical test results obtained a value of p = 0.0001 for all independent variables so that there was a significant difference in the average number of emergency patients, number of inpatients, number of outpatient visits, and number of laboratory visits between hospitals cooperating with BPJS Kesehatan and hospitals that are not partners with BPJS Kesehatan. Thus, there is an influence between cooperation with BPJS Kesehatan on the number of hospital visits in Indonesia.

Abstract

The quality of a product needs to be maintained throughout its life cycle so that the quality remains consistent to the consumers. Therefore, regular quality control is needed to maintain quality according to predetermined specifications. To be able to maintain product quality, quality control is carried out using the Six Sigma method with DMAIC stages (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). The purpose of this study was to determine the reproducibility of 10 mg Thiamazole tablet product which can be considered in determining the bypass status of the product at certain stages of testing, to determine the capability of the production process, and to analyze Thiamazole tablets. The results showed that the specification requirements and control limit range requirements. At the printing and coating stages the assay has Cpk value > 1, so that it can be considered the application of bypass status, but at the mixing and coating stages the dissolution has Cpk value < 1 which indicates that the process does not yet have a good value trend. This can be caused by several factors, for example personnel factors, machines, materials and methods at the stage of analysis of content and production.
