Abstract

Abstract.Bullying in early childhood is seen as a relational and ecological issue, influenced by emotional regulation, classroom climate, social participation, family, and culture. This review examines how holistic and participatory pedagogies help prevent bullying, based on research from 2009-2025 in Indonesia and internationally, covering development psychology, social-emotional learning, trauma-informed education, and ecological approaches. Six key themes emerge: bullying as a relational-ecological issue, social-emotional learning as prevention, participatory and democratic learning, trauma-informed classrooms, family and community partnerships, and playful interventions. Prevention is most effective when environments foster emotional safety, empathy, cooperation, child agency, and inclusion. These approaches work together by addressing developmental skills and social structures that sustain exclusion. The review notes limitations like vague definitions, limited long-term studies, and inadequate non-Western context adaptation. It advocates moving from reactive discipline to relational, ecological, and community-based strategies, with implications for curriculum, teacher training, family involvement, and policy.

Abstract

Abstract. Indonesia's transition to a circular economy (CE) faces persistent barriers, including low public awareness and consumer distrust in green claims, posing distinct marketing challenges for resource-constrained CE startups. This study develops a context-specific green marketing strategy model for CE startups in Indonesia. A grounded theory approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with 15 participants (startup founders, marketing team members, and consumers) along with document analysis and participatory observation of five CE startups in Java. Open, axial, and selective coding were conducted using NVivo 14. Four interdependent strategic pillars were identified: radical transparency in production and environmental impact disclosure, continuous consumer education on CE principles, strategic ecosystem collaboration with NGOs and green influencers, and authentic founder-centered storytelling. These pillars constitute the Circular Green Marketing Framework, integrating circular values into branding and marketing communication. Theoretically, this study enriches green marketing literature from a Global South perspective, advancing signaling theory and legitimacy theory in resource-constrained startup contexts. Practically, the framework offers a replicable roadmap for CE startups to build brand differentiation, counter greenwashing perceptions, and cultivate consumer loyalty without substantial marketing budgets.

Abstract

Indonesia faces democratic regression marked by the revision of the Indonesian Military Law (TNI Law) enacted on 20 March 2025, widely perceived as a threat to civilian supremacy and a potential revival of military dual-function practices. While prior studies have examined democratic decline and military reform in Indonesia separately, none has specifically analyzed how civil society constructs and sustains collective resistance against this revision. This study addresses that gap by examining the Coalition for Civil Society for Security Sector Reform, applying (McAdam, Tarrow, and Tilly, 2004)) contentious politics framework through a qualitative case study involving in-depth interviews and document analysis. The coalition sustains resistance through four interrelated elements: opportunities and threats, mobilizing structures, framing processes, and repertoires of contention. Although the law is enacted, the coalition maintains contention through judicial review and post-enactment advocacy. The findings offer practical insights for strengthening civilian oversight, informing civil-military relations policy, and supporting institutional safeguards against military expansion into civilian governance in Indonesia and comparable democratizing contexts.

Abstract

Abstract. Subsidy policies remain essential fiscal instruments for maintaining economic stability, reducing social inequality, and improving public welfare. However, conventional subsidy administration continues to face persistent challenges, including fragmented databases, inaccurate beneficiary targeting, weak institutional coordination, limited data interoperability, and inadequate monitoring mechanisms, resulting in fiscal inefficiency and reduced policy effectiveness. Although previous studies have examined subsidy reform, digital governance, and evidence-based policymaking, these issues have generally been discussed separately, leaving a gap in the development of an integrated governance framework for subsidy management. This study aims to develop a Smart Subsidy Policy framework by integrating digital governance with evidence-based policymaking to strengthen subsidy administration in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach through a systematic literature review, this research analyzes academic publications, government reports, policy documents, and international institutional reports. The findings indicate that integrating interoperable databases, digital identity systems, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and real-time monitoring can improve beneficiary targeting, transparency, accountability, fiscal efficiency, and policy responsiveness. The proposed Smart Subsidy Policy framework provides a governance model that integrates technological innovation, institutional coordination, and evidence-based decision-making to enhance subsidy effectiveness and public financial governance, while offering theoretical contributions and recommendations for improving subsidy management and public sector accountability in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the network structure of public discourse surrounding Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meals program (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) on Instagram using Social Network Analysis (SNA) within a Pentahelix framework. Background: MBG discourse on Instagram has become a contested arena between pro-government and critical coalitions, yet prior research has relied mainly on content or sentiment analysis, leaving the underlying network structure of actor influence unexamined. Methods: Data were collected through hashtag scraping (#makanbergizigratis) covering January–December 2025, yielding 106,513 posts from 114,003 accounts. Sixteen actors representing five Pentahelix elements were examined in Gephi across four centrality measures: degree, closeness, betweenness, and eigenvector. Results: The MBG discourse network forms a polycentric antagonistic scale-free structure, with @badangizinasional.ri functioning as the hegemonic nodal point (highest betweenness: 0.000317; eigenvector: 1.0), while @korelasimedia and @luarbioskop operate as counter-hegemonic nodal points. Government and media elements dominate the network, while community and academic actors remain structurally marginal. Conclusion: The MBG discourse network is structurally decentralized but not substantively democratized, challenging the normative assumption of Pentahelix as balanced multi-stakeholder collaboration. Implications: These findings substantiate Papacharissi’s contention that the networked public sphere does not necessarily produce democratization of public discourse, and point to the need for strengthening academic and community participation in digital policy communication.

Abstract

This study examines how social legitimacy is constructed, contested, and reconstructed by two competing political families in Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, across four electoral cycles (2002–2024). Background: Decentralization opened new arenas for local elite competition, yet the ideational and narrative dimensions sustaining dynastic legitimacy remain underexplored. Purpose: To analyze mechanisms of social legitimacy construction and the dynamics of inter-dynastic competition in shaping electoral preferences. Methods: Qualitative interpretive approach with critical discourse analysis; data gathered via in-depth interviews, campaign documents, media archives, and KIP Nagan Raya electoral data (2006–2024). Results: Legitimacy was constructed through three collective social narrative typologies—collective pride (2002–2012), dominance normalization (2012–2017), and anti-dynasty transformation (2017–2022)—followed by a restorative re-narrative in 2024. Conclusion: Multilayered symbolic capital rooted in genealogy, development memory, and communal identity demonstrated electoral durability beyond a single defeat. Implications: Post-decentralization local competition is fundamentally a contest over narrative legitimacy; institutional reforms must address structural conditions enabling dynastic narrative reproduction.
