Abstract

Generation Z in Bekasi City faced challenges in personal financial management due to a consumptive lifestyle and easy access to financial technology, which could lead to financial instability if not balanced with adequate financial literacy and self-control. This study aimed to analyze the effect of financial literacy on personal financial management among Generation Z, with locus of control and self-efficacy as mediating variables. The research used a quantitative approach with the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method on Generation Z respondents in Bekasi City. The results showed that financial literacy had a significant effect on personal financial management, as well as on locus of control and self-efficacy. Self-efficacy had a significant effect on personal financial management and acted as the main mediating variable, while locus of control did not show a significant direct effect but still contributed to the mediation pathway. These findings confirmed that financial literacy was a dominant factor in shaping personal financial management behavior, with self-efficacy serving as a key reinforcement in improving financial decision-making among Generation Z. The implications of this study supported the importance of strengthening financial literacy and financial confidence in financial education programs for young people.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of service quality on community satisfaction in motor vehicle testing services at the Department of Transportation of Bukittinggi City. Despite the increasing demand for public services, empirical evidence on how multidimensional service quality influences user satisfaction in the context of mandatory vehicle testing remains limited, particularly in local government settings. This research addresses this gap by employing a quantitative explanatory design, conceptualizing service quality through five dimensions: tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Data were collected from 100 service users using a structured and validated questionnaire and analyzed through multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that all dimensions of service quality have a positive and statistically significant effect on community satisfaction, both partially and simultaneously. The model explains 76.8% of the variance in community satisfaction (R² = 0.768), indicating strong explanatory power. Among the dimensions, responsiveness emerges as the most influential factor, highlighting the critical role of prompt and adaptive service delivery in shaping user perceptions. This study contributes to the public service literature by providing empirical evidence on the relative importance of service quality dimensions in a regulatory service context. Practically, the findings suggest that improving responsiveness and reliability should be prioritized to enhance service effectiveness and sustain public trust.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic financial literacy and digitalization on the performance of Islamic cooperatives with Good Cooperative Governance (GCG) as a mediating variable. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method on administrators, managers, and members of Islamic cooperatives in Bukittinggi City. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results showed that digitalization had a positive and significant effect on the performance of Islamic cooperatives, while Islamic financial literacy did not directly affect performance. However, Islamic financial literacy and digitalization were proven to have a positive effect on the implementation of Good Cooperative Governance. Furthermore, Good Cooperative Governance had a positive effect on the performance of Islamic cooperatives and mediated the influence of Islamic financial literacy and digitalization on the performance of Islamic cooperatives. These findings confirm that improving cooperative performance is not only determined by the ownership of resources in the form of knowledge and technology, but also by the quality of organizational governance that is able to optimize the utilization of these resources.

Abstract

Digital transformation through the implementation of e-Activity as a performance appraisal system for civil servants is intended to improve accountability, transparency, and work discipline; however, changes to performance reporting deadlines, as well as infrastructure constraints and civil servants’ digital competency, continue to pose challenges to the effectiveness of its implementation. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing e-Activity in improving the performance of civil servants at the West Kalimantan Provincial Civil Service Agency, with a specific focus on the timeliness of reporting as stipulated in West Kalimantan Governor Regulation No. 6 of 2024. The study employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, collecting data through interviews with seven informants, document analysis, and observation. The results indicate that the implementation of e-Activity was conceptually designed to achieve objective, transparent, and accountable performance evaluations. However, in practice, it still faces challenges, particularly regarding the policy to extend the reporting deadline from three days to seven days in response to internet connectivity issues and ASN’s limited familiarity with the application’s new format. While this flexibility is intended to accommodate infrastructure limitations and human resource readiness, it also risks undermining work discipline and supervisory control, and has the potential to slow down the performance verification process and the disbursement of the Employee Income Supplement (TPP), which impacts the absorption of the regional budget. Therefore, the effectiveness of e-Activity is largely determined by the interplay between regulatory design, technological infrastructure readiness, civil servants’ digital competencies, and individual awareness of time management.

Abstract

Employee performance is a critical factor in supporting organizational success, requiring human resource management capable of creating a work-life balance and enhancing employee discipline. This study aims to determine the effect of work-life balance and work discipline on employee performance at the Education Office of Central Sulawesi Province. This study utilizes a quantitative approach with a survey method. The population consists of all 34 Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) in the Vocational High School Development Division of the Education Office of Central Sulawesi Province, using a total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, and then analyzed using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression. The results indicate that work-life balance and work discipline simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Partially, work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, and similarly, work discipline has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The Adjusted R Square value of 0.845 indicates that the work-life balance and work discipline variables can explain 84.5% of the variation in employee performance. This study implies that enhancing work-life balance and implementing good discipline can serve as strategies to improve the quality of employee performance.

Abstract

Coastal tourism in Tanjung Lesung is mainly centered on beaches and watersports, while traditional palm sugar remains poorly integrated into the formal tourism market. This study explores the potential of palm sugar as an agrifood tourism product and identifies entrepreneurial opportunities and structural barriers. A qualitative descriptive design was employed through semi-structured interviews and direct observation involving five purposively selected informants: a palm sugar farmer, a tourism-village management representative, and three tourists. A full-day observation was conducted at the production site in May 2026. Interview data were analyzed through manual coding and thematic analysis. The findings show that palm sugar offers authentic entrepreneurial resources through traditional knowledge, natural processing, and interactive visitor experiences. Tourists expressed interest in participating in production activities, but this potential remained underdeveloped because promotion was passive and production sites were located away from the main coastal tourism circuit. Opportunities include experiential tourism packages, storytelling, improved packaging, smaller product sizes, and ginger-based product diversification. However, limited road access, weak marketing capacity, and distrust of consignment arrangements constrained development. The study concludes that palm sugar-based agrifood tourism requires collective value creation, transparent transactions, stronger promotion, and improved village accessibility among producers, tourism managers, government, and commercial partners.

Abstract

This study assessed the impact of Geopolitical Risk (GPR) on bank performance and the role of gender diversity in that relationship. The study used panel data from 41 banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange over the 2017–2025 period ( 369 observations). Bank performance is measured using Return on Assets (ROA), while the control variables used include bank size, Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Loans (NPL), and Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR). The analysis was conducted using a Random Effects Model with robust standard errors. The results show that GPR has a positive and significant effect on ROA. This means that an increase in geopolitical risk during the study period was not accompanied by a decline in bank profitability. Gender diversity was also found to moderate this relationship in a negative direction; thus, the higher the gender diversity, the weaker the positive effect of GPR on ROA. Regarding the control variables, bank size has a positive effect on ROA, while NPL has a negative effect. Meanwhile, CAR and LDR do not have a significant effect on ROA. The results indicate that banks’ responses to geopolitical risks are not only related to external conditions but are also influenced by governance characteristics and the quality of the bank’s internal management.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as the world's largest producer of palm oil, playing a strategic role in the national economy. A high international market demand's for Indonesian palm oil products made this commodity one of the driving forces behind national economic growth. The purpose of this study is to analyze digital marketing and product quality in consumers' purchasing decisions regarding high-quality oil palm seeds from CV Imam Tani Group in Dharmasraya Regency. The research method employed a qualitative approach using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation, involving five research informants: two employees from the CV Imam Tani Group's nursery division and three oil palm plantation owners as customers of CV Imam Tani Group. Data analysis techniques included drawing conclusions, data triangulation, and data reduction. The study concluded that digital marketing can influence consumers' purchasing decisions regarding high-quality oil palm seeds from CV. Imam Tani Group, particularly during the information-seeking and alternative-evaluation stages when farmers are looking for places to purchase high-yield oil palm seedlings. It was concluded that product quality can influence consumers' purchasing decisions regarding high-yield oil palm seeds from CV. Imam Tani Group, both for new farmers and those with experience planting high-yield oil palm seedlings. Before farmers decide where to purchase the seedlings, on average, they are already aware of the differences in harvest quality.

Abstract

This study examines the trust of Shopee e-commerce users in Semarang City in the face of increasing digital transactions and information security risks. The research problem stems from the inconsistent findings of previous studies regarding the role of digital security and reputation in shaping user trust, as well as the limited number of studies that simultaneously examine multi-factor authentication, data encryption, and digital reputation. This study aims to analyze the influence of these three variables on Shopee users' trust. The method used is a quantitative approach involving a questionnaire survey of 111 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the aid of SPSS 25. The results indicate that data encryption and digital reputation have a positive and significant effect on user trust, whereas Multi-Factor Authentication does not have a significant partial effect. These findings suggest that users place greater emphasis on data protection, privacy policy transparency, service quality, ratings, reviews, and the platform's image when building trust. Therefore, Shopee needs to strengthen its data encryption and digital reputation, while maintaining Multi-Factor Authentication as a basic security standard to protect user accounts.

Abstract

Generation Z in major Indonesian cities shows relatively adequate financial literacy, yet the rapid growth of the coffee shop industry remains accompanied by recurring and partly unplanned consumption patterns. This study explores how financial literacy and coffee shop lifestyle interact to shape the consumptive behavior of Generation Z in Semarang, a secondary city rarely covered by qualitative research on this topic. Using a qualitative case study approach with a phenomenological orientation, the study involved six purposively selected informants: three university students, two young Generation Z workers with varying visit frequency and spending levels, and one coffee shop manager as a business-side triangulation source. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed thematically, with trustworthiness maintained through source triangulation, triangulation across four theoretical lenses, and member checking with all informants. Findings indicate that informants' financial literacy was polarized between those with systematic budgeting discipline and those who relied on rough estimates, and that strong financial literacy curbs impulsive purchases but does not reduce visit frequency, as coffee shops function as a third place for work, study, and socializing. Consumptive behavior emerges most vulnerably during add-on ordering moments triggered by social pressure or FOMO and eased by digital payment methods that obscure awareness of cumulative spending. These findings suggest that financial literacy interventions should target micro decision moments at the point of transaction rather than general financial knowledge alone, offering practical insight for Generation Z, coffee shop operators, and financial education institutions.
