Abstract

This research examines Ibn Khaldun's social and philosophical thoughts, especially regarding power and its dynamics. Using quantitative data from literature studies, we understand that cycle theory is a fundamental principle for Ibn Khaldun when looking at power dynamics and human civilization. Ibn Khaldun believes that human power and civilization have cycles like human life. Humans are born, grow, develop, mature and grow old and then die. According to Ibn Khaldun, power is also the same; nothing lasts forever, and everything has a final limit. Ibn Khaldun believes that the fundamental laws in social and political systems are not static but historical. The period for a civilization or power to survive depends on the strength of the Asabiyyah in society, state, culture, and the nation itself. Besides 'asabiyyah, moral strength is a pillar in maintaining civilization's progress and power. Morals are the soul of power and civilization. Their existence is like the soul for the body. Moral principles in exercising power also differentiate Ibn Khaldun from the pragmatic view of power and modern politics, which believes that politics does not have to be linked to moral values; it is the art of achieving power by any means. According to Ibn Khaldun, power is not merely the physical and worldly control authority over a country and region. Still, it functions as an instrument that guarantees the realization of God's vision for human civilization, namely the benefit of the people or the common good.

Abstract

The implementation of Islamic law at the international level faces a variety of complex challenges that include legal, political, social and cultural dimensions. One of the main challenges is the diversity of interpretations of Islamic law in different Muslim countries. Differences in schools of thought, local traditions, and state policies create gaps in the application of the law, which makes it difficult to establish uniform Islamic legal standards globally. Apart from that, the integration of Islamic law into the international legal system which is dominated by secular law is also an obstacle. The current international legal system places greater emphasis on universal principles which sometimes conflict with provisions in Islamic law, especially on issues such as human rights, gender equality and religious freedom. Another challenge arises from the geopolitical aspect, where countries with different political and economic interests are often reluctant to agree on a global Islamic legal framework. In addition, negative perceptions of Islamic law among non-Muslim communities also play a role in hindering constructive dialogue between civilizations. This condition is exacerbated by the stigma of terrorism which is often associated with the extreme application of Islamic law. Therefore, efforts are needed for cross-cultural dialogue and reform of Islamic law that is inclusive and adaptive to the global context without ignoring the basic principles of religion.

Abstract

This study aims to explore risk management in wealth protection from the perspective of Islamic economics. The main issue is how Islamic economics provides sustainable risk management solutions that align with Sharia principles for safeguarding individual and collective wealth. The scope of this research includes relevant Islamic economic concepts, mechanisms, and instruments for wealth protection, such as zakat, waqf, and takaful. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a library research approach, where data is collected from various sources such as scientific journals, books, and reports related to Islamic economics and risk management. The data analyzed included Islamic economic theories from experts such as Al-Ghazali and Ibn Khaldun and contemporary concepts related to Sharia risk management. The results show that risk management in Islamic economics aims not only to protect wealth but also to ensure social balance and the distribution of economic justice. An interesting finding from this study is the application of instruments such as zakat and waqf that can effectively reduce people's financial risks, help redistribute wealth, and create economic resilience. In addition, the concept of takaful as Sharia-based insurance also plays a role in mitigating individual financial risks fairly and transparently. The implications of this study reinforce the importance of integrating Sharia principles into economic policy to achieve long-term financial sustainability and stability.

Abstract

Al-Qur'an-based learning has an important role in forming students' spiritual literacy from an early age, especially in the modern era. This spiritual literacy includes the ability to understand, internalize, and practice the values of the Al-Qur’an in everyday life. This research aims to measure the effectiveness of Al-Qur'an-based learning in improving students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Tarbiyatul Athfal. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a survey approach. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and tests on students. Data analysis techniques involve simple statistical calculations to evaluate achievements in each aspect of learning. Data validity is obtained through triangulation of sources and methods. The research results showed that cognitive aspects, such as reading and memorizing verses of the Al-Qur'an, had the highest achievement, with 90% of students able to read well and 83% successful in memorizing. However, achievements in the affective aspect, namely understanding the meaning of verses and relating them to daily life, only reached 60% and 50%. In the psychomotor aspect, 67% of students have practiced the values of the Al-Qur’an, such as being honest and disciplined. These findings indicate that Al-Qur'an-based learning methods need to be more innovative, using interactive media, in-depth reflection, and an applied approach. The implication of this research is the importance of training teachers to develop more creative and relevant teaching methods.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the actions of Generation Z related to the global humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. The population of this study was all Generation Z students in Kendari City—data collection through the distribution of Google Forms. The number of questionnaires filled out was 200 responses. The research period was December 2023. The results showed that most Generation Z respond to humanitarian issues without interacting directly with others (such as boycotting, praying, giving alms, and uploading news/status). Gen Z prefers using social media more than discussing humanitarian issues directly. Around 91 percent of respondents know products affiliated with Israel, and 67 percent do boycotted action. One of the reasons respondents avoided the boycott was because they thought it would worsen the economy. Boycotting a product does not mean stopping consumption but shifting consumption from one brand to another or maintaining demand. Thus, the call for a boycott must be accompanied by a more concrete explanation of its economic impact besides religiosity and humanitarianism. Local businesses/MSMEs also need to be prepared to increase their popularity and market share in the face of shifting product demand due to the boycott.
