Abstract

This study explores establishing a legal entity as a representative body for participants in Islamic insurance, in light of current Indonesian regulations and the fatwas and guidelines issued by the National Sharia Board of the Indonesian Council of Ulama (DSN-MUI). Using a normative juridical method with statutory, comparative, and conceptual approaches, this research draws on primary legal materials—including statutory laws and DSN-MUI fatwas—and secondary sources such as scholarly literature and credible legal documents. The proposed legal entity aims to represent the collective ownership of Islamic insurance participants. It suggests forming an internal body comprised of participant representatives from various regions, modeled after the Badan Perwakilan Anggota (Member Representative Body) in mutual insurance. This initiative is intended to enhance participant rights and address conflicts of interest arising from Islamic insurance companies' dual role as both fund managers and supervisors. Despite its potential, forming such an internal legal body faces practical and legal obstacles, including financing issues, representative selection criteria, operational efficiency, and the absence of specific regulatory support. Furthermore, the existing authority of the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) is limited to Sharia compliance oversight. As a viable alternative, appointing an Independent Commissioner to represent participants is recommended. This solution is grounded in existing laws, such as the Company Law, Insurance Law, UUP2SK, and relevant OJK regulations. It can be enhanced by establishing a Dana Tabarru’ Funds committee under Article 121(1) of the Company Law to ensure stronger accountability and protection of participants’ interests.

Abstract

This study explores the values of Islamic constitutionalism as reflected in three significant texts: al-Muqaddimah fi Intizam Waza’if al-Malik, Tsamarat al-Muhimmah Diyafah Li al-Umara wa al-Kubara' Ahl Hakim, and Gurindam Dua Belas by Raja Ali Haji. These works, originating from diverse socio-cultural contexts, represent a continuum of Islamic political thought that emphasizes justice (‘adl), consultation (shūrā), accountability (mas’ūliyyah), and the ethical limitations of political authority. The study aims to examine how these texts articulate principles of governance consistent with Islamic constitutional ideals and how such principles remain relevant to contemporary constitutional discourse. Using a qualitative-descriptive method, this research analyzes the textual content of each work through the lens of Islamic political ethics and compares their constitutional implications. Findings show that each text, despite its distinct genre and historical setting, upholds a model of leadership that is morally bound, consultative, and justice-oriented. al-Muqaddimah offers a structured political theory rooted in classical Islamic governance, Tsamarat al-Muhimmah emphasizes the moral character and restraint of leaders, while Gurindam Dua Belas integrates Islamic and Malay ethical-political teachings through literary expression. The study concludes that these texts provide a foundational framework for understanding Islamic constitutionalism beyond legal formalism, focusing on the moral obligations of rulers and the collective rights of society. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic constitutional theory by highlighting the ethical and cultural dimensions of Islamic governance embedded in classical and local intellectual traditions.

Abstract

This research focuses on the reinterpretation of the concept of the Human Development Index in the perspective of the Qur'an, especially through the study of Surah An-Nahl verse 97, so that the main purpose of this research is to reformulate the conceptual framework of the Human Development Index by basing the indicators of education, health, and decent living standards according to the Qur'anic values which are analyzed through qualitative methods with a library research approach and tafsir methods thematic (maudhu'i) to analyze the verses of the Qur'an that are relevant to human development. The results of the study show that the main values in HDI education, health, and welfare have normative reinforcement in the Qur'an, including in Q.S. Al-Mujādilah verse 11 (education), Q.S. Al-Baqarah verse 195 (health), and Q.S. Al-Hasyr verse 7 (distribution of welfare). These three dimensions are contained in the concept of ḥayātan ṭayyibah which is interpreted as a quality life, balanced between this world and the hereafter, and based on faith and righteous deeds. Therefore, it is necessary to integrate modern development policies with ethical and spiritual principles in Islam.

Abstract

This study investigates the factors inhibiting halal certification among Micro and Small Industries (MSIs) of meatball products. Bondowoso Regency, as one of the regions in East Java Province, has good potential in developing micro and small-scale meatball industries. However, in reality, despite halal certification being legally mandated and crucial for consumer trust, especially in a country where the majority of the population is Muslim, no meatball MSIs in the region have obtained such certification. This study utilizes a qualitative methodology, incorporating interviews and triangulated data, to identify six inhibiting factors in halal certification for MSIs of meatball products. The following factors have been identified as contributing to the issue: 1) lack of socialization, 2) lack of knowledge of business actors on halal aspects of meatball products, 3) very high dependence of business actors on the existence of free halal certification, 4) lack of coordination between related institutions, 5) lack of human resources, and 6) lack of government role in mobilizing MSI actors to carry out halal certification. These findings underscore the need for strengthened collaboration among government, academia, and industry (triple helix) and more proactive regional strategies to meet the national halal certification target by 2026.

Abstract

This study explores the role of da'wah in responding to the dynamic political landscape in Indonesia. As a form of religious communication deeply rooted in cultural values, da'wah has the potential to shape political behavior, raise awareness, and foster inclusive participation, particularly among marginalized groups such as women. The findings indicate that da'wah serves not only as a medium for conveying moral and ethical principles but also as an instrument for political education and engagement. By utilizing both traditional and digital media, da'wah adapts to contemporary challenges and facilitates dialogue across political divides. However, the study also identifies several challenges, including the risks of misinformation, misinterpretation, and the politicization of religious messages. These issues highlight the need for da'wah practitioners to develop effective communication strategies that are contextually relevant and grounded in both religious knowledge and socio-political understanding. Innovative approaches such as philanthropic da'wah, participatory platforms, and interdisciplinary engagement are emphasized as key to enhancing the impact of da'wah in political discourse. Using a qualitative literature review method this study provides a comprehensive analysis of how da'wah can contribute to building political awareness and democratic values in Indonesia. The study concludes that with the right strategies and ethical foundations, da'wah can become a powerful tool for civic transformation and social cohesion.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of incentives and organizational commitment on employee performance, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable. The research was conducted at Baitul Maal Hidayatullah (BMH) Banten Province, a non-profit organization engaged in zakat, infaq, and sadaqah management. The study employed a quantitative method with a saturated sample of 100 employees. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with SmartPLS 4.0. The results reveal that both incentives and organizational commitment have a significant and positive impact on job satisfaction and employee performance. Furthermore, job satisfaction significantly enhances employee performance and partially mediates the relationship between organizational commitment and performance. However, its mediating effect between incentives and performance is not significant. These findings underscore the critical role of intrinsic factors such as commitment and satisfaction in improving performance, especially in non-profit organizational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implications of the Merdeka Curriculum expansion policy on the Islamic boarding school education model at SMA An-Nur II Bululawang. This policy fosters a spirit of flexibility, differentiation, and character building, offering opportunities for Islamic values-based education to flourish, while also presenting structural and cultural adaptation challenges for Islamic boarding schools. This study employed a qualitative-descriptive approach, with data collection techniques including participant observation, in-depth interviews with school administrators, teachers, and students, and internal policy documentation studies. The results indicate that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic boarding schools has led to positive transformations in more contextual and project-based learning, and the integration of Islamic boarding school values into the Pancasila Student Profile. However, significant challenges remain, such as the need for teacher training, the development of teaching materials appropriate to the characteristics of Islamic boarding schools, and adjustments to curriculum management to maintain alignment with the vision of Islamic education. This study recommends synergy between policymakers and Islamic boarding school institutions so that curriculum expansion becomes more than just an administrative policy, but a genuine space for the growth of a relevant, character-based, and contributing model of Islamic boarding school education for the nation's future.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis shows not just ecological damage but also a deep ethical and spiritual gap between humanity and nature. This article discusses prophetic eco-ethics as an Islamic framework for caring for the environment, based on the sayings and practices (ḥadīths) of Prophet Muhammad. Using a qualitative thematic analysis approach (mawḍūʿī), the study identifies and groups selected ḥadīths that express values of ecological responsibility. These values include moderation in resource use, preservation of biodiversity, compassion toward all creatures, and keeping the environment clean as an act of faith. The findings show that the prophetic tradition provides a complete ecological ethic that combines divine accountability (tawḥīd), stewardship (khilāfah), mercy (raḥmah), and reform (iṣlāḥ) as moral duties. These values are not only spiritually important but also relevant to today’s discussions about ecology, offering a moral and spiritual way to respond to current environmental issues. The study suggests integrating prophetic eco-ethics into Islamic education, mosque-led environmental efforts, and faith-based sustainability programs.
