Abstract

Hypertension is a medical condition in which an individual experiences a persistent increase in blood pressure above the normal threshold, defined as a systolic pressure ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic pressure ≥90 mmHg. Hypertension, commonly referred to as high blood pressure, is a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and various other health complications. This community engagement program aimed to improve knowledge, awareness, and preventive behaviors regarding hypertension among adolescents through health education, innovative interactive educational media, and the involvement of peer health agents at SMPN 1 Kupang Timur. The activities was conducted through several stages, including an initial survey, health education using booklets and interactive websites, and the training of peer health agents from the student council (OSIS). Evaluation results showed a significant improvement: among the 50 participating students, the average score for hypertension knowledge increased from 61.5 to 80.5, with 44 students (88%) showing improvement. Knowledge as a peer health agent rose from 55.7 to 84.8 (92%), and the ability to educate peers saw the most significant jump, from 30.3 to 89.9 (98%) after the intervention. These findings confirm that interactive media and peer education-based approaches are effective in promoting behavioral change and sustainable hypertension prevention within the school environment. This program offers valuable implications for developing similar initiatives in other schools to reduce the incidence of hypertension among adolescents.

Abstract

Metro 6 State Senior High School is one of the schools that produces the best graduates in Metro City. Learning at this school strives to utilize the latest technology that is in accordance with the needs of the times. One technology that has not been taught at this school is Internet of Things technology. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept that refers to a network of physical devices connected via the internet, which are able to exchange data without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. In the context of IoT, "physical devices" can include various types of objects, such as sensors, vehicles, household appliances, medical devices, and many more. Metro 6 State Senior High School students do not yet have an understanding of IoT theory and applications. This PKM activity introduces IoT technology through knowledge dissemination and practical assistance for IoT applications in simple applications such as turning on lights via smartphones. The results of this PKM activity are that students' knowledge of IoT theory and applications has increased by more than 100%, as shown by the results of the pre-test with an average score of 39.41 increasing to 80.59 in the post-test. In addition, students are also able to practice turning on lights via IoT-based smartphones. In addition, students of SMA Negeri 6 are facilitated with esp32 microcontrollers, relays and other tools that support the sustainability of IoT practical activities at this school.

Abstract

Free Health Examination (FHE) program is a strategic government initiative aimed at improving community access to promotive and preventive health services. This community service activity was conducted in Timor Tengah Selatan Regency and involved 30 participants from various age groups, ranging from newborns to the elderly. The implementation methods included target identification, cross-sectoral coordination, socialization, direct health examinations at UPT. Puskesmas Siso, and education on the use of the SATUSEHAT Mobile application. Services provided included blood pressure checks, blood glucose measurements, body temperature, pulse, respiration assessments, screening for non-communicable diseases, and special newborn examinations. The results showed active community participation, with 100% of participants completing all examination and education stages. Furthermore, 85% of participants demonstrated increased knowledge regarding the importance of early disease detection and the use of the SATUSEHAT Mobile application. These findings indicate that the FHE program is effective in encouraging healthy lifestyle changes and strengthening collaboration between health facilities and the community in disease prevention efforts. The activity recommends expanding program coverage, training health cadres, and enhancing monitoring to ensure sustainability and maximize the impact of the FHE program in the future.

Abstract

Community service program was conducted in Ngrapah Village, Banyubiru District, Semarang Regency, with the aim of empowering housewives through training on processing local food ingredients into high-value products. The village’s abundant natural resources, particularly freshwater fish from Lake Rawa Pening, have not been fully utilized to improve household economic welfare. Therefore, a team from the Department of Business and Finance, Vocational School, Diponegoro University, initiated a program to train local women in producing and packaging pempek (traditional Indonesian fish cakes) as a form of downstream processing of local food potential. The program was implemented through a structured approach consisting of needs assessment, technical and managerial training, as well as mentoring in production and marketing. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, with average scores increasing from 1.9–2.7 before training to 3.8–4.5 afterward. The highest improvements were observed in technical skills for making pempek (from 2.1 to 4.5) and self-confidence to start a business (from 2.5 to 4.4). In addition, at least five participants successfully began independent small-scale production after completing the program. This activity also produced a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for pempek production and packaging, which is expected to become the foundation of a collective enterprise to strengthen the village’s economic independence. The program aligns with poverty alleviation efforts and the promotion of food security through community empowerment.

Abstract

Taxation is one of the primary sources of state revenue vital to national development. However, tax compliance among MSME actors in Semarang City remains low due to limited literacy, information, and tax outreach. To address this challenge, the Vocational School of Diponegoro University, through the D4 Tax Accounting Study Program, in collaboration with Piranha Smart Center, implemented a community service program in the form of tax training targeting the public and MSME actors. The activity involved 120 participants divided into six batches, utilizing face-to-face training methods and the provision of learning modules. Evaluation results showed significant improvements in participants’ knowledge, understanding, awareness, and tax compliance, each achieving a success rate above 70%. This achievement was reflected in the positive responses from participants regarding the training materials and modules provided. The program has proven effective in enhancing community capacity to fulfill tax obligations independently and contributes to sustainable development.
