Abstract

Education is a conscious and planned effort to develop students’ potential through effective learning. In this process, teachers play a crucial role, as the success of education largely depends on their competence. However, despite many teachers having good emotional intelligence, their performance may still fall short without support from a conducive school environment. This study examines the influence of emotional intelligence and school environment on the performance of public junior high school teachers in Probolinggo City. The research method used was quantitative. A total of 96 junior high school teachers in Probolinggo City were the subjects of this study. The data analysis technique was carried out in several stages of testing, namely the validity test to measure the validity of the instrument using product moment correlation, and the reliability test using the Cronbach's Alpha method. The data were then analyzed using the classical assumption test which includes normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity tests. Further analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression (regression test, f test, and t test). The results revealed that emotional intelligence alone did not significantly affect teacher performance (p = 0.269 > 0.05), while the school environment did (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Simultaneously, both variables significantly influenced performance, indicated by an F value of 24.422 > F table 3.18. These findings highlight the dominant role of the school environment in enhancing teacher performance. Moreover, the interaction between emotional intelligence and a supportive environment can collectively improve the quality of teaching.

Abstract

Adiwiyata is a program that is oriented towards forming schools that care about and have an environmental culture by integrating environmental education into the curriculum, extracurricular activities, and school management. The main output is to form more environmentally friendly student behavior. This study aims to examine the influence of attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control on behavioral intentions and their impact on students' environmentally friendly behavior. The study was conducted using an explanatory approach with 187 respondents taken using purposive sampling techniques. The analysis and hypothesis testing techniques used Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings show that attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control perceived by students have a positive influence on students' intentions to engage in environmentally friendly behavior, which in turn, behavioral intentions have a positive effect on their environmentally friendly behavior at school and in their environment.

Abstract

Hybrid learning has emerged as an innovative approach in higher education, integrating online and face-to-face instruction to enhance academic flexibility. However, its effectiveness largely depends on the availability and readiness of educational infrastructure, including digital resources and learning support facilities. This study investigates the relationship between hybrid learning infrastructure and learning effectiveness in higher education, employing a quantitative survey method with a cross-sectional design. A total of 100 students were selected as respondents through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through Pearson correlation analysis. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between hybrid learning infrastructure and learning effectiveness, with hybrid learning laboratories identified as the most influential factor. However, synchronous learning encounters technical challenges that hinder its effectiveness. These results highlight the critical role of robust digital infrastructure in enhancing learning effectiveness. Therefore, strategic investment in digital facilities and the optimization of instructional design are essential for the sustainable transformation of higher education.

Abstract

The success or failure of education and learning at school is greatly influenced by the principal's ability to manage each component of the school, one of which is planning. This research aims to examine the Leadership Management of School Principals in Planning Based on Christian Values at SMTK in District. Rote Ndao. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with a multisite design involving two research sites, namely, SMTK Rote Timur and SMTK Ba'a. The main informants in this research consisted of 4 people from each school consisting of the principal, deputy principal, teachers and staff, so it becomes 8 informants involved. Data collection techniques include participant observation, interviews and documentation studies, while data analysis techniques used consist of: 1) single site analysis consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions; 2) cross-site analysis. This research used data triangulation technique as the data validation techniques. Therefore, the results of the research showed that the leadership management of school principals in planning based on Christian values as described in Galatians 5: 22-23 has been implemented in the leadership of SMTK principals throughout the district Rote Ndao. Christian-based values are depicted in the form of the school's vision and mission and are integrated and concretized in academic and non-academic programs. Therefore, it is hoped that school principals can outline program plans guided by a vision and mission based on Christian values integrated into the planning.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the readiness of schools in implementing inclusive education in Kendari City and to analyze strategies that can be applied to address implementation challenges in the field. The research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving education experts, representatives from the Education Department, principals of Special Schools (SLB), as well as teachers and principals from several senior high schools in Kendari City. Observations were also conducted based on aspects outlined in the General Guidelines for Inclusive Education Implementation as stated in Ministry of National Education Regulation No. 70 of 2009. The results show that school readiness varies significantly. Most schools lack adequate human resources and facilities, although some have established partnerships with SLBs and participated in inclusive education socialization programs. Key challenges include insufficient teacher training, limited infrastructure, and low public awareness. Recommended strategies include teacher capacity-building, provision of accessible facilities, policy support, and public education. This study underscores the importance of collaborative approaches among stakeholders to realize a fair and sustainable inclusive education system.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of leadership and the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) on the quality of educational services from the perspectives of teachers and students. Ensuring service quality is essential for schools to remain competitive amid globalization and rapid technological change. Using a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional correlational design, data were collected from 100 respondents (75 students and 25 teachers) through Likert-scale questionnaires. Data analysis employed correlation tests, simple and multiple regression, along with classical assumption tests. The results indicate that leadership and TQM simultaneously have a significant effect on the quality of educational services, with R² values of 0.809 (teachers) and 0.669 (students). However, partial analysis shows that only TQM exerts a statistically significant influence, while the effect of leadership becomes insignificant when controlled alongside TQM. These findings highlight that TQM principles—such as continuous improvement, broad participation, and a focus on customer satisfaction—are the dominant determinants of service quality. The novelty of this study lies in demonstrating the comparative weight of TQM and leadership within the Indonesian school context, showing that effective leadership alone is insufficient without a systematic quality management framework. The study contributes to the theory of educational leadership by clarifying its enabling role in implementing TQM, and to TQM theory by emphasizing its central role in educational service delivery. Practically, the findings suggest that schools and policymakers should prioritize comprehensive TQM adoption supported by transformational leadership to sustain quality improvements.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in schools through the lens of Anthony Giddens' structuration theory. Field findings reveal that TQM is often applied in a bureaucratic and symbolic manner, with minimal involvement from school members and a lack of participatory reflection forums. Using the structuration framework, this study highlights that TQM structures are not fixed entities, but are formed and reproduced through the social practices of school actors. Inequities in rules and resource distribution weaken the agency of school members, while the absence of reflective spaces hinders conscious structural transformation. The analysis shows that strengthening school members as active agents is essential in building a dynamic and sustainable quality management structure. Therefore, it is recommended that schools develop collaborative structures, ensure equitable distribution of resources, establish open forums for collective reflection, and integrate TQM principles into daily practices. This study contributes theoretically to quality management approaches in educational institutions by emphasizing the reciprocal relationship between structure and agency.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of the Adiwiyata program in fostering environmental awareness in schools. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a program evaluation method based on Stufflebeam’s CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product), the research involved teachers participating in the program’s implementation selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and validated using source, technique, and time triangulation to ensure credibility. Data analysis was conducted thematically according to the CIPP components to assess the program’s context, input, process, and product. The results indicate that although schools have shown commitment and there have been positive changes in environmentally friendly behavior, the level of environmental awareness and internalization of environmental values among students still needs improvement. The Adiwiyata program has not yet fully succeeded in establishing a consistent culture of environmental care. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen the role of teachers through training, integrate environmental material contextually into the curriculum, and improve routine habituation and monitoring systems to embed environmental care values more deeply and sustainably.

Abstract

This studi aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) training for teachers using two levels of the Kirkpatrick Model: Reaction and Learning. The training is essential to equip teachers in meeting the demands of 21st-century education, where teachers serve as facilitators who encourage active student participation in meaningful learning. The research subjects consisted of 25 junior and vocational high school teachers from the Islamic Development Network Boarding School Solo who participated in the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) training. Data were collected through evaluation questionnaires (Reaction level) and pretest-posttest assessments (Learning level). The data were analyzed quantitatively. The evaluation at the Reaction level indicated that the training was rated very positively by participants, with an overall average score of 4.21. Four aspect are material relevance, facilitators, training methods, and facilities and media were rated as “Very Good.” Meanwhile, the aspects of training duration and participant engagement were rated as “Good.” At the Learning level, the results of a paired sample t-test showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge scores after the training (pretest mean = 50.20; posttest mean = 84.80; sig. 0.000 < 0.05). These results indicate that the training successfully enhanced teachers’ understanding of the concepts and implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL). Therefore, the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) training proved to be effective in improving teachers’ knowledge and received a positive response from participants. This evaluation provides a valuable foundation for developing more impactful and contextual teacher training programs, and supports the improvement of learning quality in schools.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education at the elementary school level plays a strategic role in shaping students' creative, independent, and adaptive characters, especially in free schools that face resource constraints. This study aims to analyze the planning, organization, implementation, and supervision of entrepreneurship at Kuncup Melati Elementary School in Semarang. The research subjects included the principal, teachers, foundation, school committee, and parents who played an active role in supporting the program. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design to explore entrepreneurship practices comprehensively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and school archive documentation. Data validity was maintained through extended observation, increased persistence, and triangulation. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model, including the stages of collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, resulting in reliable and verified findings. The results of the study show that entrepreneurial planning involves setting goals, SWOT analysis, work meetings, forming an implementation team, and budget planning with the support of internal and external stakeholders. The organizational process includes identifying tasks, grouping, delegating authority, and arranging competency-based working relationships. The program is integrated into learning and extracurricular activities, such as market day, batik as local content, and craft making, with the active participation of teachers and parents. Supervision is carried out through supervision by the principal and regular evaluations by the foundation and school committee. The study recommends that schools create a conducive environment, provide supporting facilities, and expand the space for entrepreneurial practice, for example through school bazaars or experience-based projects. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on entrepreneurial practices in free elementary schools with limited resources, thus offering conceptual and practical contributions to the development of community-based entrepreneurship models in Indonesia.
