Abstract

This literature study explores the potential of digital-based Islamic education in strengthening the moral character of Muslim youth. Reviewing existing literature on the topic, this study highlights the benefits and challenges of incorporating digital technologies in Islamic education. It presents strategies for effectively utilizing these tools to promote moral development. The literature review results suggest that digital-based Islamic education can provide a flexible and accessible platform for students to engage with Islamic teachings and develop their moral reasoning. Digital technologies such as online modules, interactive simulations, and social media platforms can deliver Islamic education to a broader audience, including those unable to attend traditional Islamic schools or mosques. However, the study also identified several challenges in implementing digital-based Islamic education, such as the need for proper regulation and oversight, concerns about the quality of online content, and the potential for technology to promote superficial engagement with Islamic teachings. To overcome these challenges, the study recommends that educators and developers of digital Islamic education programs prioritize integrating interactive and reflective learning activities, provide opportunities for direct experiences and community engagement, and emphasize developing critical thinking and moral reasoning skills. Additionally, regulatory bodies and Islamic institutions should establish guidelines and standards for digital-based Islamic education to ensure the quality and accuracy of online content. Overall, this literature study suggests that digital-based Islamic education can be an effective tool for strengthening the moral character of Muslim youth. However, it requires careful planning and thoughtful implementation to realize its potential fully.

Abstract

This paper examined the transformation of Indonesian language learning in universities in Indonesia through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) applications within the context of the Independent Curriculum for Learning. The study investigates the role of AI in enhancing language learning outcomes and the practical implications for educational institutions. Integrating AI applications has brought a paradigm shift in how the Indonesian language is imparted in universities nationwide. As per the research, incorporating AI tools such as chatbots, speech recognition technology, and automated assessment systems has significantly enhanced language learning outcomes, offered students personalized learning experiences, and improved speaking skills. The Independent Curriculum for Learning has empowered students with the flexibility to customize their learning paths and actively participate in the learning process. Furthermore, the evaluation and feedback mechanisms have instilled a culture of continuous improvement and student-centric learning approaches. These insights are precious for educational institutions to effectively integrate AI technologies into their language learning programs, enabling interactive and personalized learning experiences. Further research should explore innovative methods to maximize the benefits of AI in language learning, thereby uplifting educational outcomes to new heights. In conclusion, integrating AI applications in Indonesian language learning has revolutionized traditional teaching methods, promoting interactive and personalized learning experiences. The Independent Curriculum for Learning further supports this transformation, fostering student engagement and empowerment. Future research should explore innovative ways to leverage AI in language learning to enhance educational outcomes.

Abstract

This study examined the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing Curriculum Merdeka, a new curriculum reform initiative, in Indonesian schools. Data were collected from 20 teachers and ten school administrators across 15 schools in three provinces through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions. The study found that the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka faced challenges related to a lack of resources and infrastructure, inadequate training and support for teachers, and a heavy burden on teachers. However, the new curriculum also provided opportunities for more student-centered and interdisciplinary Learning, teacher professional development, and more significant equity and inclusion in Indonesian schools. The study recommends that policymakers and educators address the challenges of implementing Kurikulum Merdeka by providing adequate resources and support for teachers and clear guidance and expectations for the implementation process. Additionally, the study suggests that future research should examine the long-term impact of Kurikulum Merdeka on student learning outcomes and teacher professional development. Overall, this study highlights the importance of careful planning and support to implement new curriculum initiatives in Indonesian schools successfully.

Abstract

This qualitative study aimed to explore evaluation strategies and innovative ideas to make learning more enjoyable in Indonesia's independent higher education curriculum. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 20 lecturers and researchers and ten students from various faculties and analyzed using thematic analysis. The data collected from the in-depth interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis, which involved identifying patterns, themes, and categories in the data. The data were transcribed verbatim, and the transcripts were read and re-read several times to ensure the researchers thoroughly understood the data. The researchers then coded the data line by line, and these codes were grouped into categories based on their similarities and differences. The classes were then analyzed to identify themes, refined through an iterative discussion process and consensus among the researchers. The final pieces were then interpreted in the context of the research questions and the relevant literature. The findings reveal that lecturers and students acknowledge the importance of evaluation in improving learning outcomes and creating a positive learning experience. Lecturers use various evaluation strategies, such as self-assessment, peer, and formative assessments, to enhance students' engagement and motivation. Moreover, lecturers employ innovative ideas like gamification, multimedia, and project-based learning to make education more enjoyable. Students also perceive these creative ideas as effective ways to increase their motivation and enjoyment of learning.
