Abstract

DKI Jakarta, from the era of the Sunda Kelapa Kingdom to the modern day, has been the nation's capital, spanning Dutch colonial rule and the independence period. As the centre of government and culture, Jakarta possesses complex historical dynamics and exerts a significant influence on national identity. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with a literature review serving as the primary method. The results indicate that Jakarta has experienced a major cultural transformation due to the acculturation of diverse ethnicities and cultures, including Betawi, Chinese, Arabic, and Dutch. Additionally, the development of tourism in Jakarta is greatly influenced by its historical heritage and local cultural assets, as reflected in destinations such as the Old City, the National Monument, museums, and art and cultural centres. The role of government and society in preserving cultural values and promoting tourism is crucial to maintaining the city's identity and ensuring its sustainability. This study underscores the importance of integrating history and culture into tourism planning to establish Jakarta as a global city that remains anchored in its local heritage.

Abstract

This study investigates the phenomenon of code shift in the digital communication of Generation Z in Indonesia. Having grown up in a digital environment, Gen Z exhibits linguistic patterns that are unique, flexible, and adaptive to the rapid development of information technology. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research examines various forms of digital communication on social media and instant messaging applications. The findings indicate lexical, grammatical, and syntactic shifts marked by the use of slang, digital acronyms, code-mixing, and code-switching within a single discourse. Contributing factors include technological, social, cultural, psychological, and algorithmic forces that foster distinct language styles within digital communities. The implications include challenges in upholding standard Indonesian in formal domains, intergenerational communication gaps, and the need for more contextually relevant language education policies. The study aims to deepen our understanding of linguistic dynamics in the digital age and to inform language policy strategies that are adaptive to contemporary conditions.

Abstract

The management of educational facilities and infrastructure is a fundamental component in improving the quality of learning. However, many schools still face significant challenges, including inaccurate asset inventories, inadequate maintenance systems, and limited human resources and budgets. This article aims to analyze strategies for inventory and maintenance of educational facilities through a literature review approach. The study examines approximately 30 scholarly sources, including accredited journals, educational management books, and relevant national regulations. The findings indicate that effective management strategies include the implementation of digital-based inventory systems, systematic asset classification, preventive maintenance, and collaboration between internal administrative teams and external technical staff. On the other hand, challenges such as limited technical competence and funding constraints can be addressed through adaptive school leadership, capacity-building training for human resources, and active participation from all school stakeholders. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of integrating technological innovation and managerial approaches in developing a sustainable, accountable, and digitally responsive system for managing educational facilities. Thus, this study provides strategic contributions not only to the theoretical development of educational management but also to its practical implementation at the institutional level.

Abstract

In alignment with the Royal Government of Cambodia's Vision 2050 and response to Industry 4.0 demands, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has initiated higher education reforms to build human capital. Despite the rapid increase in higher education institutions, from 1 in 1979 to 189 by 2022–2023, student services remain underdeveloped and inadequately supported. This qualitative study explores key challenges in implementing student services across Cambodian HEIs and examines strategic recommendations to improve support systems. Using purposive sampling, 67 participants from seven stakeholder groups were interviewed through semi-structured, one-on-one, and focus group discussions. Thematic analysis identified challenges such as assessment and attention mechanisms, structured and action plans, human and digital infrastructure, physical infrastructure and facilities, budget constraints, and student perspective. To address these issues, the study proposes a strategic and collaborative approach, involving parent ministries, industry and communities, development partners, religion, parents and guardians, and institutional actors. This study offers practical, stakeholder-informed recommendations to enhance student services, which are vital to improving student success, institutional resilience, and the overall quality of higher education in Cambodia.
