Abstract

Educational values in hadith have an important role in shaping the character of Muslims. However, there are differences in implementation between classical and contemporary interpretations, because classical interpretations are usually textual, while contemporary interpretations are more contextual. The purpose of the study is to analyze the comparison of the two approaches to get a relevant and comprehensive understanding, so that the educational values in the hadith can be applied effectively according to the needs of the times. The research method used is literature review by reviewing relevant journals, articles, books, and official documents. The results show that the analysis of traditional and contextual approaches in understanding the educational values of hadith shows the importance of adjusting the teachings to the context of the times. The traditional approach emphasizes the understanding of classical texts, while the contextual approach focuses on the application of values according to socio-cultural conditions. The combination of the two results in a comprehensive understanding that is relevant for creating adaptive learning methods that meet the challenges of the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Living Qur’an concept in school education through a systematic literature review. The Living Qur’an concept emphasizes the internalization of Qur’anic values into the daily lives of students, going beyond mere memorization or textual understanding. The literature reveals that the success of Living Qur’an implementation is strongly influenced by the habituation of religious activities such as Qur’an recitation (tadarus), congregational prayers, and Qur’anic literacy, all of which effectively foster students’ religiosity and strong character. Teacher professionalism and exemplary conduct are central factors, positioning teachers as facilitators, motivators, and role models in this process, further supported by digital innovations such as the E-Rapor Qur’an application, which enhances monitoring and evaluation of learning. Furthermore, synergy among schools, families, and the broader social environment is crucial to holistically strengthen the internalization of Qur’anic values. However, challenges remain, including limited infrastructure, insufficient environmental support, and an overemphasis on rote memorization. This research recommends strengthening teacher capacity, developing technology-based learning innovations, and fostering active multi-stakeholder collaboration as key strategies. Thus, the Living Qur’an concept can be optimized as a model for character education that is adaptive and relevant to contemporary educational demands, shaping morally upright, Qur’anic-minded generations ready to face global challenges in the digital era.

Abstract

Hermeneutics, as an interpretive and epistemological approach, has undergone a significant evolution from its religious roots to its methodological role in the humanities and social sciences. This article critically examines the thought of three key figures in hermeneutics Friedrich Schleiermacher, Wilhelm Dilthey, and Hans Georg Gadamer and their relevance to the development of Islamic education. The study employs a qualitative-philosophical approach using a literature review method, analyzing both primary and secondary works of the three thinkers alongside relevant Islamic education literature. The analysis is conducted through comparative and reflective methods to explore each thinker’s contribution to the foundation of text comprehension methodology, particularly in relation to religious texts. The findings indicate that Schleiermacher emphasized the importance of grammatical and psychological aspects in understanding the author's intent; Dilthey situated hermeneutics within the framework of the humanities, focusing on human historical experience; while Gadamer introduced the concept of the fusion of horizons as the basis for dialogical and historical understanding. Collectively, they offer complementary approaches for shaping a more reflective, contextual, and dialogical practice of Islamic education. The article’s contribution lies in enriching interpretive methodologies within Islamic education, particularly in the teaching of Islamic texts that require a critical and historical approach. These findings affirm that although hermeneutics originates from the Western tradition, it can be contextually adapted within the field of Islamic education to enhance the understanding and relevance of Islamic teachings in contemporary contexts. Therefore, the results of this study are significant for the development of more humanistic and contextual theories and practices in Islamic education.

A legal system can be defined as a set of rules and procedures that a community usesto interpret and enforce its laws, which is compulsory for the well-being of every socialinstitution. When there is existence of multiple legal systems within one society orgeographical territory, it can be called as Legal pluralism. But Islam is oneand only religion flourished by a legal system that deals with all the deeds of a human. So,the topic is more likely to concentrate the Islam. We can get the relevance of topic frominvolvement of even Muslim minority countries like USA, Canada, Australia and Germany inconducting debates on allowing legal pluralism. Abstract

This article aims to elaborate on the concept of experts and their needs today. This research emphasizes comparative analytical study methods by analyzing problems that exist in the Western world and even among Muslims themselves. The confusion in viewing expert figures as authorities have often given rise to various very complex problems. This stems from the failure to recognize expert figures. The truth is becoming increasingly opaque due to the emergence of various people claiming to be experts, followed by the proliferation of information. It is hoped that the birth of a healthy science culture will be able to overcome such problems. So that complete recognition of experts can occur. Thus, this research aims to restore the expert’s position as an authoritative expert, of course, following his capacity and abilities.

Abstract

This study endeavors  to elaborate on the educational philosophy of Syed Muhammad Naquib al Attas. Al Attas' educational thought, if traced according to his background, it cannot be separated from his attention to the current of secularization of science. As a philosopher, his conception of education begins with his view point on the human beings in terms of being very Islamic. For him, secular Western education gave birth to humans who are uncivilized, savage and brought damage not only to nature but also to humanity itself. Moreover , he sees that the cure for the crisis caused by the secularization of knowledge is through education. Therefore,  it is interesting to discuss the concept as proposed by al Attas to solve this problem.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Islamic Studies pedagogy on students’ achievement in Kazaure Modern Madrasas, Jigawa State. The research focuses on three key objectives: to examine the principles and practices of modern Islamic education, to find out the socio-emotional dimensions affecting students’ learning experiences, and to identify the factors influencing students’ academic achievement in the selected Madrasas. A mixed-method research design was adopted, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches to provide a comprehensive understanding of the pedagogical impact. The study used sample size of 150 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and classroom observations; it was analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages and mean) with the aid of statistical package for social sciences (SPSS Version 21.0). Findings revealed that the effective application of Islamic pedagogical principles—such as moral instruction, teacher-student interaction, and learner-centered approaches—significantly enhances students’ cognitive and spiritual development. Moreover, socio-emotional factors such as motivation, teacher empathy, and peer relationships were found to play a vital role in shaping students’ attitudes and performance. The study also identified challenges including inadequate instructional materials, teacher training gaps, and limited institutional support. It concludes that strengthening modern Islamic pedagogical practices can improve both academic and moral outcomes among Madrasa students. Recommendations were made for educators, policymakers, and Islamic institutions to integrate holistic teaching approaches that balance religious and modern educational objectives for sustainable student achievement.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare classical and contemporary approaches to understanding the educational values contained in the hadith, in order to gain a more comprehensive and relevant understanding of Islamic educational practices in the modern era. Educational values in the hadith play a fundamental role in shaping the character and morals of Muslims. The hadith not only serves as a source of religious teachings but also as an ethical guideline in developing students' personalities based on spiritual, social, and moral values. However, differences in historical and social contexts have resulted in two different styles of interpretation. The classical approach tends to emphasize textual understanding and the authenticity of the meaning of the hadith, while the contemporary approach emphasizes the relevance of the teachings of the hadith to the dynamics of modern life and current educational challenges. The research method used is library research by examining various academic sources such as journals, books, articles, and scientific documents related to educational values in the hadith. This approach allows researchers to explore the thoughts of scholars and intellectuals, both from classical and modern perspectives, in a deep and structured manner.
