Abstract

This study explores the challenges and solutions in swimming education within physical education in Indonesian schools through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The literature review reveals several major issues impacting swimming education, including limited facilities, lack of teacher training and certification, and constrained curriculum time. Limited facilities, especially in rural areas, result in insufficient access for students to learn swimming effectively. Furthermore, many teachers lack specific competencies in teaching swimming, reducing the effectiveness of the instruction. Low societal awareness about the importance of swimming and minimal government support also contribute to these challenges. To address these issues, it is recommended to enhance facilities in schools, implement specialized training programs for teachers, adjust the curriculum to provide more time for swimming instruction, increase public awareness, and secure stronger government support. These measures are expected to optimize swimming education in physical education and provide greater benefits for students

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the biomotor abilities of PSHT pencak silat athletes in Desa Ketawang, Kecamatan Gondang, Kabupaten Nganjuk. Initial observations indicated that female athletes exhibited weaknesses in speed, strength, agility, coordination, and endurance, leading to quick fatigue and suboptimal technical execution. The research employed a quantitative method with a series of tests, including a 60-meter sprint, push-ups, ball wall, wall squat, agility T-test, and a 1000-meter run. The results showed that 13.33% of the athletes were in the excellent category, 20% in good, 40% in fair, 20% in poor, and 6.67% in very poor. Overall, the biomotor profile of the athletes was categorized as fair. These findings suggest the need for more targeted training programs to enhance the biomotor abilities of the athletes, particularly in speed, strength, and endurance, to achieve optimal performance in pencak silat.

Abstract

Sport is an activity that moves the body for various purposes, such as hobbies, losing weight, and achieving achievements. However, national sporting achievements still lag behind Asian countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam, which are now a big threat at the SEA Games. This lag shows the need to improve the national sports development system, including the development of talented athletes. In the modern era, the selection of talented athletes is carried out using relevant test methods, such as the Australian Sport Search. This method helps identify talent based on anthropometric aspects and physical abilities, making it easier to determine potential and interest in sports from an early age. Talent development is the process of discovering individual potential, such as intelligence, skills and innate traits, to analyze opportunities in certain sports. With proper coaching, talented individuals can be developed into potential athletes who are able to reach peak achievements, supporting the progress of national sports.
