Abstract

ABSTRACT Talawaan dam, North Minahasa Regenc that was built in 1912, was planned to irrigate 1037 ha paddy field covering five villages, i.e. “Desa Kolongan”, “Desa Talawaan”, “Desa Tumbohon”, “Desa Winetin”. The objective of this research was to inform the physical condition of irrigation network system in Talawaan Dam. This research was conduced from November 2014 - Februari 2015 (4 Months). The data was collected usong survey method, float measurements. The result showed that the irrigation network system in this dam was not appropriate with the planned scheme based on the number of (water structures) and irrigated field area. In addition, there was water loss because of overflowing and leakage in the irrigation network.   Keywords :Talawaan Dam , Irrigation

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this study were to obtain the appropriate packaging and storage temperature in extending the shelf life of cabbage and also to calculate weight loss and physical changes of cabbage (texture, color and the rate of CO2 production) during storage in the plastic packaging.  The results showed that the cabbage stored at the temperature range from  5-10 °C using stretch film packaging gave the lowest shrinkage of 1.59% after being stored for 20 days.  The cabbage packed with stretch film delivered the lowest production rate of CO2 that is 36.14 mg / jam.kg on the 1st day with a hardness value of cabbage at the top of  0.061 mm/g and at the base of  0.063 mm/g,  and production rate of CO2 of  55.53 mg/jam.kg were obtained on the 20th day with the hardness at the top of the cabbage of 0.063 mm/g and at the base of  0.065 mm/g with the brightness level of  80.78 namely color level is white.  Keywords: Cabbage, Packaging, Storage, Quality Change

Abstract

ABSTRACT EVALUATION OF PLANT FUNCTIONAL ASPECT AT SAM RATULANGI UNIVERSITY ROADSIDE LANDSCAPE   Plant is one of the elements that play a role in shaping the roadside landscape. The aim of this study was to evaluate aspects of the functioning of plants in the landscape of the campus of the University of Sam Ratulangi and make recommendations on the selection and arrangement of functional plants. Plant function evaluated is the advisory function, limiting, shade, wind control, noise control, light control, pollution control, and conservation. Each group location rated based on the percentage criterion crop function and translated into the category of excellent, good, average, and poor.      Results of the evaluation showed excellent categories are on main street group location, good categories located in east zone and west zone group’s location, and poor categories located in South Zone group location. Function of plants on the landscape the way the campus can be improved by increasing the number of trees and shrubs that has a dense leaves and planted with a tightly spacing. The selection of plants should consider the composition of the existing planting, plant function requirements, and compliance with the physical and environmental conditions of the road. . Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted in Bron Research Center in the village of Warembungan, regency of Minahasa, during the months of September, October and November 2015. This research aims to know the structure and composition of tree vegetation with trunk diameters above 20 cm at Bron Research Center. The method used was random plot, where plots were randomly placed within the 50-hectare research location. There were 5 observation plots, each 100x100m large and covering a total area of 5 hectares. Observations collected data on the species and number of individuals for each species in each of the plots. The data was analyzed using three parameters: density and relative density, frequency and relative frequency dominance and relative dominance, and Important Value Index (IVI). Results show that the species with the highest IVI was Palaquium obovatum 66,43%, with 13,2 individuals/ha, and the lowest IVI was Caryota mitis 1.97%, with 0,2 individuals/ha. Research shows that green leafhopper populations in rice cultivation is  highest in the third observation, in the tincep village is 10,40 tail and village kauneran 9,33 tail. Lowest population occurred when the first observation in the Tincep village 5,06 tail and Kauneran 4,13 tail. Whereas the population of white back planthopper in rice crops in highest in the first observation that, in the village of kauneran 6,26 tail and in village Tincep 6,20 tail. Lowest population occurs on the last observation is at kauneran villages 2,20 tail and Tincep village 1,80 tail.
