Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the harvest area, production, and productivity of vegetable commodities in South Minahasa Regency and (2) identify vegetable commodities that have competitive advantages in the region. Secondary data on harvest areas and vegetable production for the 2019-2023 period from South Minahasa Regency and North Sulawesi were analyzed using the Location Quotient (LQ) method with a combined approach of Static Location Quotient (SLQ) and Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ). The results showed that (1) the harvest areas of leeks and potatoes increased, while garlic experienced a significant decline until it was not cultivated in 2022-2023. Chili and long beans have the highest average productivity, followed by chayote and cucumber. (2) LQ-DLQ analysis classifies vegetable commodities into four categories: superior (leeks, potatoes, cabbage, petsai; 23%), mainstay (shallots, beans, large chili, cayenne pepper, long beans, water spinach, cucumber, tomatoes, chayote, eggplant, carrots; 65%), lagging (garlic, spinach; 12%), and no prospective commodities were found.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze production risks in cabbage farming conducted by farmers in Kakenturan Village, Modoinding District. The method used in this study is Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), a technique for identifying, assessing, and prioritizing risks based on three main aspects: Severity (level of severity), Occurrence (frequency of occurrence), and Detection (detection capability). These three aspects are multiplied to produce the Risk Priority Number (RPN), which serves as the basis for determining the risk level. The study was conducted from April to June 2025, involving 15 cabbage farmers as respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected through direct interviews using a questionnaire and analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results of the study showed that there are six main types of risks in cabbage farming activities in Kakenturan Village, namely plant diseases, extreme weather (excessive rain and drought), soil conditions, fertilization, planting distance, and pest attacks.

This study aims to analyze the production cost structure and income of patchouli farming and processing in Raraatean Village, Tompaso Baru District, South Minahasa Regency. This study was conducted over two months, from May to June 2025. Data collection was conducted through direct interviews with patchouli farmers. Data analysis used cost analysis based on processing and income structure, calculating total costs incurred by farmers, income received by farmers, and a R/C ratio analysis. At each stage of the patchouli farming business, variable costs dominated compared to fixed costs. The cultivation stage recorded the highest variable costs at Rp 8,998,355, followed by post-harvest at Rp 8,940,713, and preparation at Rp 8,940,713. The highest cost was Rp 8,014,285, with the lowest being the harvest cost of Rp 5,627,141. Fixed costs at all stages were relatively small, with the highest value at Rp 111,667 in the preparation stage and the lowest at Rp 12,500 in the harvest stage. The average production cost per farmer, with an average number of plants of 13,357, was Rp 31,560,560, with an average revenue of Rp 67,857,142 and a net income of Rp 36,296,226. The R/C ratio of 2.15 indicates that for every Rp 1 of costs incurred, revenue of Rp 2.15 is generated, making patchouli farming and processing a profitable and viable business.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the income comparison between potato farmers cultivating Granola L and Super John varieties in Passi Timur District. The research employed a Simple Random Sampling method with 60 farmer respondents, consisting of 30 Granola L farmers and 30 Super John farmers. The variables examined in this study include production, price, and production costs. Income comparison was conducted using an independent samples t-test with SPSS software, based on the average income per hectare of Granola L and Super John farmers. The results show that Granola L farmers achieved an average production of 12,602.24 kg/ha with an average selling price of IDR 9,166.67/kg, resulting in an income of IDR 80,019,440.63/ha. Meanwhile, Super John farmers recorded an average production of 11,586.01 kg/ha with an average selling price of IDR 8,916.67/kg, yielding an income of IDR 71,803,381.17/ha. The income comparison between the two farming systems was further analyzed using the t-test, which produced a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.555 > 0.05. Thus, the null hypothesis (H0) is accepted and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is rejected. This indicates that there is no significant difference in income between Granola L and Super John potato farming.
