Abstract

Systematic theology plays a vital role in shaping Christian education within the church's life. This article explores the connection between theological doctrines and educational practices by emphasizing the significance of biblical principles, doctrinal accuracy, and theological reflection in enhancing Christian teaching. The study adopts a qualitative-descriptive approach, employing a literature review method to analyze and synthesize theological and educational sources, including Scripture, academic books, and peer-reviewed journals. Its goal is to examine the biblical foundations and practical strategies for implementing contextual and effective Christian education. The findings highlight that integrating systematic theology into church education is essential for cultivating spiritually mature believers with a thorough understanding of faith and preparing them for meaningful ministry. Additionally, this article offers a fresh perspective by linking theology and education while discussing practical strategies for application across various church ministries

Abstract

The problem of natural exploitation is currently increasingly prevalent. In addition, there is a mistake in understanding the text of the scriptures, especially the three words in Genesis 1:28-30: fill, subdue, and have dominion. These three words are often considered to be the cause of natural exploitation from a theological perspective. This background encourages the author to provide a pro-ecological interpretation of the text of Genesis 1:28-30, using a bioregionalism perspective. The research method employed in this paper is a descriptive qualitative approach, as described by Daniel K. Listijabudi's hermeneutic perspective. The results of the study indicate that, by adopting a bioregional perspective in interpreting the text of Genesis 1:28-30, the command to 'fill, subdue, and have dominion' is not an exploitative one. This command utilizes nature guided by ecological insight and is oriented to its ecological implications

Abstract

This study explores the understanding and role of the church in serving persons with disabilities, focusing on the Sunday School for Children with Special Needs (SHM ABK) at the Galilea congregation of the Evangelical Church in Kalimantan (GKE) Palangka Raya. While Sunday School is a common ministry within GKE, a dedicated program for children with special needs remains relatively new. According to Samuel Kabue and Arne Fritzson, the church should be a community for all, and Rob van Kessel emphasizes that a vital church involves every member without exception. Employing a qualitative method through observation and interviews, this research investigates the congregation’s understanding and the church’s role in SHM ABK. Data were analyzed by integrating scholarly perspectives with field findings. The study reveals theological ambiguities among congregants, reflected in liturgy and worship practices, which hinder the effectiveness of ministry to children with special needs. These ambiguities also indicate broader limitations in other church ministries. The study argues that the church must be a fellowship inclusive of all members, and that full participation—including of children with special needs—is essential to sustaining the vitality of its ministry.

Abstract

This paper aims to describe Pak Ogah as a social phenomenon within urban society. This descriptive qualitative research employs data collected through interviews, observations, and literature studies. The findings reveal that individuals who voluntarily manage traffic at road turns and intersections without traffic lights are commonly referred to as Pak Ogah. The Pak Ogah phenomenon can be understood as a rational choice made by the urban poor in their struggle for survival. It represents a marginalized community that is compelled to accept the label of “illegal workers” because their activities contradict traffic regulations. Establishing informal relations with the police, promoting Pak Ogah as a noble occupation for assisting road users, and maintaining good conduct are survival strategies that enable them to continue earning a livelihood amid the bustle of city life. Ultimately, this study recommends that both the government and the church undertake educational initiatives, social awareness campaigns, and economic empowerment programs for the Pak Ogah community.

Abstract

Galatians 3:28 is one of the Biblical texts that supports equality between women and men. However, this verse is not widely used to provide an understanding of opportunities for women to serve in the church. Therefore, by using the Epistolary Approach, an understanding based on Galatians 3:28 regarding women's service opportunities in the church can be obtained. This understanding is first that Galatians 3:28 provides a positive attitude towards women's ministry in the church, namely that Galatians 3:28 supports women's ministry, because women's ministry is one of the implications and results of the true Gospel delivered by the apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then secondly, Galatians 3:28 gives a positive impression of women's opportunities to serve the church as something that is expected.

Abstract

The mangenta tradition is an agricultural tradition among the Ngaju Dayak tribe. This tradition is also practiced among the congregation members of the GKE Mandomai Church. Research on the mangenta tradition, as far as the team knows, has never explored its theological meaning. Therefore, the team researched and wrote about it. This research was conducted qualitatively. The initial investigation was done by examining writings related to local wisdom, the mangenta tradition and Mandomai. After that, the team was on location observing and interviewing various informants and phenomena related to the mangenta tradition. After that, the writing team formulated the theological meanings associated with these traditions. The team found that this tradition has begun to be uprooted among members of the GKE Mandomai congregation. Even though, the theological values contained therein are very valuable to maintain. The theological meanings found include togetherness or kapakat, unity or kahinje, expressions of gratitude/kahanjak, intimacy/kasene arep/tawan ekae and accuracy/pas, dia labih, dia kurang.

There are three findings in the Piwara'an Tradition, namely that Dayak Maanyan people in Palu Rejo Village want to build a family that respects culture, there is an understanding that marriage and family are part of social events in the community, and marriage and efforts to build a family have a connection with God. The Piwara'an tradition reminds that there is a close relationship between humans and others, as well as humans and God that must continue to be built.

Abstract

This study aims to respond to stereotypes and discrimination experienced by women who work as housewives. The author responds to this problem by reinterpreting the story of Abigail in 1 Samuel 25:2-44. The research method in this paper uses the seeing-through approach. The perspective lens used is the pairan dapo’ concept in Mamasa, West Sulawesi. The author finds that the text of 1 Samuel 25:2-44 describes Abigail as a housewife who does not just stay home and always submits to her husband's orders and decisions. Abigail has the space and role to criticize Nabal's wrong attitudes and actions. Abigail's actions become reflective material for constructing that housewife can play a role in seeking the welfare of their families. This role does not lie in an economic role, but rather wisdom and knowledge of ethical values to criticize her husband and family.
