Abstract

Critical thinking ability refers to the process through which students systematically dissect problems, accurately identify and distinguish issues with precision. The challenges observed in the research setting include students' delays in responding to information during the learning process, a lack of reading engagement, and some students remaining passive. The scientific approach is a learning methodology that offers students opportunities to explore and elaborate on the materials being studied. Consequently, this approach can enhance students' critical thinking abilities. This study aims to describe the impact of the scientific approach on students' critical thinking abilities in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) classes. The objective is to ascertain the extent of the relationship between the scientific approach and the students' critical thinking skills. The research method employed is descriptive quantitative correlational. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation studies. Data analysis is conducted through statistical data processing. The findings indicate that the implementation of the scientific approach in learning received an average rating of 4.31, categorized as very good. Meanwhile, the improvement in students' critical thinking abilities achieved an average rating of 4.37, also categorized as very good. Statistical tests reveal that the scientific approach accounts for 52.75% of the variation in students' critical thinking abilities, while the remaining 47.25% is influenced by other factors not included in this study.  Keywords: Scientific Approach; Critical Thinking Ability; Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the researcher’s attention to the continuity of the learning process at SMA Ciledug Al-Musaddadiyah Garut, which implements the Independent Learning Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar) in the 10th grade. Initial observations indicated that students' critical thinking skills are still low, as evidenced by their difficulties in answering questions from teachers, their inability to express opinions, reluctance to complete school assignments, and lack of enthusiasm for learning. Within the framework of Merdeka Belajar, critical thinking is one of the core elements in shaping the Pancasila Student Profile. Cultivating critical thinking skills is essential for every student as it is crucial for problem-solving and decision-making processes. The objective of this study is to understand the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) classes and its impact on enhancing the critical thinking abilities of 10th-grade students at SMA Ciledug Al-Musaddadiyah Garut. The research employs a descriptive analytical qualitative method aimed at providing a comprehensive and holistic description and analysis of the implementation of Merdeka Belajar in PAI instruction to improve the critical thinking skills of 10th-grade students at SMA Ciledug Al-Musaddadiyah Garut. Data sources for this research include primary data from observations and interviews with informants from SMA Ciledug Al-Musaddadiyah, and secondary data from reference books, journals, documents, and other relevant archives. Data collection techniques encompass observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this research demonstrate that the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum in PAI classes has led to an increase in students' critical thinking skills. This is evidenced by the results of the fifth observation during the learning process, which meet the five critical thinking indicators, showing a notable improvement in students' critical thinking abilities. These findings confirm the positive impact of the Merdeka Belajar approach on students' critical thinking development.  Keywords : Critical Thinking Skills, Implementation, Independent Learning (Merdeka Belajar)

Abstract

Cognitive learning outcomes are essential in the educational process as they stimulate students to learn. However, cognitive learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects have been notably low. This is evidenced by mid-term test (UTS) results that have not met the minimum competency standards (KKM), and a significant number of students still struggle to understand the material, indicating a need for optimization in cognitive learning outcomes. The project-based learning model (PBL) has been selected for the PAI subject as a means to improve students' learning outcomes and encourage independent, creative, and innovative learning. This study aims to describe the impact of the project-based learning model on the cognitive learning outcomes of students in the Islamic Religious Education subject for Grade XI IPS 2 at SMAN 19 Bayongbong Garut. The research employs a quantitative descriptive correlational method. Data collection techniques include observation, questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis, with data processing carried out through statistical analysis. The findings indicate that the implementation of the project-based learning model in the PAI subject scored an average of 4.44, placing it within the 4.01 – 5.00 interval, which is categorized as excellent. The improvement in students' cognitive learning outcomes in PAI subjects also averaged 4.03, within the same interval of 4.01 – 5.00, indicating a very good category. Based on statistical testing using simple regression analysis, project-based learning was found to influence cognitive learning outcomes by 60.10%, aligning with the functions and objectives of Islamic Religious Education. The remaining 30.90% is influenced by other factors not covered in this study.  Keywords : Project-Based Learning Model, Cognitive Learning Outcomes, Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

Learning outcomes represent the skills and knowledge that students acquire after participating in educational activities, making them a crucial component of the educational process. However, the learning outcomes of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) have not yet developed satisfactorily, as evidenced by students' challenges in understanding and remembering the material and their lack of preparedness for participating in learning activities. The ability to memorize the Quran, particularly Juz 30, can have a positive impact on students' performance in PAI subjects. Memorizing the Quran is defined as the ability to recall verses of the Quran without referring to the text (mushaf). Additionally, memorizing the Quran can help restore mental balance and stabilize brain function, thereby enhancing students' memory quality and improving their academic performance in PAI subjects. The purpose of this study is to describe: 1) The learning outcomes of eighth-grade students (Class VIII E) at SMP IT Al-Khoiriyyah Karangpawitan Garut; 2) The ability of these students to memorize Juz 30 of the Quran; 3) The impact of the ability to memorize Juz 30 on the learning outcomes in PAI subjects for these students. The research employs a descriptive quantitative method, which involves collecting data or information about the phenomenon under study. The findings indicate that there is a significant impact of memorizing Juz 30 of the Quran on students' learning outcomes in PAI subjects. This is evidenced by the correlation coefficient (r-value) of 0.4144, which falls within the range of 0.40 – 0.599, categorizing it as moderate, with a percentage influence of 17.172%. Therefore, based on statistical analysis, there is a demonstrated influence of the ability to memorize Juz 30 on the learning outcomes in PAI subjects for eighth-grade students at SMP IT Al-Khoiriyyah Karangpawitan Garut.  Keywords : Memorizing the Quran Juz 30, Student Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Student creativity is a skill that students have to create or produce something new. Creativity can also be defined as a person's ability to see various possible solutions to problems by creating something new, both in the form of ideas and in the form of real works, both new works and combinations of existing things. However, in fact the learning creativity of students at SMA Plus Al-Qomariyah Garut shows that it is still low, this is evidenced by the findings of researchers when learning takes place. Students who have shown creativity are only about 25% and 75% of students still have not shown creativity. Social media Instagram is one of the developments in social media which is one of the trending choices and is widely used by students every day. Thus the researcher will try to use product evaluation by assigning students to create da'wah content by posting da'wah videos on the Instagram social media platform. The purpose of this study was to find out the use of Instagram social media in increasing student creativity in PAI subjects, Dakwah material K.D 1.1 in Class X IPS 1 SMA Plus Al-Qomariyah Sukaresmi Garut. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which is a form of reflective and collective research conducted by researchers in social situations to improve their social practice reasoning. The data sources used in this study are primary sources and secondary sources. Data collection techniques in this study were observation and documentation. The data analysis techniques in this study are planning, action, observation, and reflection. Utami Munandar argues that creativity is the result of interactions between individuals and their environment. The results of this study indicate that the use of Instagram social media can increase student creativity by fulfilling 5 indicators of student creativity including; broad and deep curiosity, often asks good questions, gives many ideas or suggestions for a problem, is able to see a problem from various perspectives/points of view, and has imagination. Abstract

Understanding is the ability to grasp the meaning and significance of the material studied. Currently, students' comprehension in the subject of Fiqh is low, as evidenced by test results showing that 47% of students have not met the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). This deficiency may be attributed to the lack of variation in the teaching methods employed by educators during lessons. The cooperative learning model of the team game tournament type is a pedagogical approach that engages all student activities and integrates learning with play, thereby potentially increasing students' interest and comprehension. This study aims to describe the impact of the cooperative learning model, specifically the team game tournament type, on students' understanding of the Fiqh subject. The research method used is a quantitative experimental approach. Data collection techniques include observation, tests, and document analysis, while data processing employs statistical analysis. The findings indicate that the average score of the experimental group before the intervention was 72.8, which increased to 90.2 after the intervention. This is higher compared to the control group, which had an average score of 72.4 before and 81.1 after the intervention. The experimental group was taught using the cooperative learning model of the team game tournament type, while the control group was taught using the traditional lecture method. The t-test results show that the calculated t-value is 2.451, which is greater than the t-table value of 1.701 at a significance level of 0.05, leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). This indicates that there is a significant effect of the cooperative learning model of the team game tournament type on students' understanding in the subject of Fiqh. Abstract

Student comprehension is the ability to understand instructions or problems, interpret them, and rephrase them in one's own words. Currently, comprehension levels among students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) are still low, as evidenced by students' inability to properly understand and explain the material presented, or to summarize it using their own words. Therefore, innovative and varied learning models are needed, such as the cooperative learning model "Make a Match," which can be applied across different classes and subjects. The cooperative learning model "Make a Match" involves students finding pairs while learning about a concept or topic in an enjoyable environment, thereby enhancing their comprehension. This research aims to describe the impact of the cooperative learning model "Make a Match" on student comprehension in PAI. The research method employed is experimental. Data collection techniques include observation, written tests, and documentation studies. Data processing was conducted through statistical data analysis. The population of this study consists of all eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Tarogong Kidul Garut, totaling 370 students. The sample includes 33 students from class VIII A as the experimental group and 33 students from class VIII J as the control group. The results show that the average pre-test score for the experimental class was 71.15, while the control class scored 71.52. After implementing the "Make a Match" cooperative learning model, the average post-test score in the experimental class increased to 89.06, compared to 82.24 in the control class, which used the lecture method. Based on the t-test results, the calculated t-value (5.26) was greater than the critical t-value (2.00). Thus, it can be concluded that the "Make a Match" cooperative learning model has a significant impact on improving student comprehension in PAI classes at SMPN 1 Tarogong Kidul Garut.  Keywords: Cooperative Learning Model "Make a Match"; Student Comprehension; Islamic Religious Education

Abstract

The current wave of globalization has made it challenging for children to engage in religious practices, respect others, and resist the influence of external cultures, leading to significant issues regarding students' character. Character education serves as a fundamental cornerstone for a nation and must be instilled in children from an early age. In reality, schools face various moral deviations among students, such as a lack of discipline and responsibility. Examples include not participating in Dhuha prayer as per school regulations, arriving late, not wearing the school uniform, failing to do homework, disobeying school rules, defacing desks, dressing untidily, submitting assignments late, disturbing classmates during lessons, and frequent fighting among peers. In response, one approach implemented is the development of student discipline through Dhuha prayer activities. Teachers conceptualize these activities to enhance students' personalities and improve their discipline. The objectives of this research are: 1) To describe the implementation of Dhuha prayer activities at MA Al-Musaddadiyah Garut, 2) To detail the discipline character of 11th-grade students at MA Al-Musaddadiyah Garut, and 3) To examine the influence of Dhuha prayer activities on developing disciplined character in 11th-grade students at MA Al-Musaddadiyah Garut. This study employs an inferential quantitative method to explore the relationship between the independent variable (Dhuha prayer) and the dependent variable (student discipline character). The subjects of this study are 34 students from the 11th grade at MA Al-Musaddadiyah Garut. The findings reveal that the influence of Dhuha prayer activities scores an average of 4.37, falling within the 4.01-5.00 interval, categorized as "very good." Meanwhile, the disciplined character of the 11th-grade students at MA Al-Musaddadiyah Garut scores an average of 4.42, also within the 4.01-5.00 interval and categorized as "very good." Statistical tests indicate that Dhuha prayer activities contribute to 47.91% of the development of disciplined character in students, with the remaining 53.09% influenced by other factors not examined in this study.  Keywords: Implementation of Dhuha Prayer, Development of Student Discipline Character.

Abstract

The Qur'an, revealed by Allah SWT, serves as a testament to the truth of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, with its primary function being a guide for humanity. The Qur'an addresses various aspects of education and its critical importance in human life. The objectives of education are central and crucial issues in any educational discourse. Numerous verses in the Qur'an encapsulate the purpose of Islamic education, including Surah Al-Dhariyat (51:56) and Surah Al-Baqarah (2:30). These verses implicitly outline educational goals and, more specifically, the objectives of Islamic education. This study aims to describe the pedagogical implications of the educational objectives found in Qur'anic verses Al-Dhariyat 51:56 and Al-Baqarah 2:30 from the perspective of Islamic education studies. The research adopts a library research approach, employing qualitative methods. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the educational objectives encapsulated in Qur'anic verses Al-Dhariyat 51:56 and Al-Baqarah 2:30 highlight that the ultimate purpose for which Allah created humans is to worship Him and to serve as leaders on Earth. Human existence is not a matter of chance or futility; rather, humans are created with specific purposes and responsibilities. The primary objective of human creation is to serve and worship Allah SWT. Abstract

This study is motivated by the researcher's concern about the low levels of religious attitudes among students in schools, influenced by the negative impact of foreign cultures on the development of students' religious character. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen students' character within the process of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) learning. The aims of this research are to describe the inculcation of religious character values in students, the teaching of Islamic Cultural History, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in instilling religious character values in SKI learning for 11th-grade students at MAN 1 Garut. This study employs a field research approach with a qualitative methodology, using descriptive analytical methods. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and document analysis involving the school principal, SKI teachers, and 11th-grade students at MAN 1 Garut. Data analysis involves data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that the inculcation of religious character values in Islamic Cultural History learning is achieved through habitual practices, starting lessons with prayers and Quranic recitations, and the method of exemplification by emulating the characters of historical figures. Supporting factors include supervision of learning activities, exemplary behavior from teachers, the principal, parents, the curriculum, and the willingness of students to learn Islamic Cultural History. Inhibiting factors come from two sources: internal factors, such as student laziness, sleepiness, and misuse of mobile phones, and external factors, including family issues (lack of parental attention) and the school environment (peer influence).  Keywords: Inculcation of Religious Character Values, Islamic Cultural History Learning
