Abstract

Agglomeration is the concentration of economic activity and population in an area. Agglomeration can have positive impacts on economic growth in a region through production efficiency, highly qualified workers, and technological developments in the agglomeration area which will eventually spread to the entire region. However, a high level of agglomeration will have impacts on various urban issues such as the environment issues, traffic congestion, and crime. This research will analyze how the degree of agglomeration, with the variables of population density and percentage of people living in urban areas, affects the economic growth of Java Islands districts and cities, with the quality of human capital as a control variable. There were 119 districts and cities on Java Island that were analyzed with the analysis period from 2016 to 2019 using panel data regression. The research results show that agglomeration significantly and positively influences regional economic growth on Java Island, both as a proxy for population density and the percentage of urban residents living in urban areas. Therefore, the Government needs to develop a series of policies that support agglomeration along with urban planning and environmental policies to minimize the negative impacts of the agglomeration.

Abstract

Stroke is a condition that occurs when the blood supply to the brain is cut off due to blockage or rupture of a blood vessel. Stroke can cause typical complications which include sensory-perceptual deficits, cognitive and behavioral changes, communication disorders, elimination disorders, swallowing disorders and motor deficits. The motor deficit most often experienced by stroke patients is hemiparesis. Hemiparesis occurs in 8 out of 10 stroke cases. One of the newest nursing interventions that has been proven to provide great benefits in restoring movement and functional abilities in post-stroke patients is Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT). The aim of this research is to determine the effect of applying the Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) method with everyday equipment on increasing the functional ability and independence of the upper extremities in stroke patients. This research design uses a quasi-experiment method with a pretest posttest design. The population was all stroke patients who experienced upper extremity hemiparesis in the chrysanthemum ward at Arifin Achmad Hospital Pekanbaru. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a total sample of 30 patients. The results of the paired t-test analysis showed that there was an influence between Constraint Induced Movement Therapy on the Functional Ability of the Upper Extremities of Stroke Patients (p value =0.000).

Abstract

The phenomenon of violence against children often occurs in schools, both in the form of physical and psychological violence. This is widely seen on social media, leading to a sense of concern. Consequently, it requires special attention from both schools and the government, directly reflected in various policies that, if properly implemented, can be applied to minimize these issues. Therefore, it is important for researchers to conduct an examination of the etiology and the urgency of criminal policies related to physical and psychological violence carried out by children in the school environment. This study aims to analyze the causes and prevention efforts, as well as the mitigation of criminal acts of physical and psychological violence carried out by children against other children. The research findings indicate that, (1) Children tend to easily learn and apply what they see, including bullying behavior. A child who engages in violence, whether physical or psychological, tends to have witnessed or experienced being a victim of such violence, prompting them to replicate such behavior. (2) Efforts to mitigate physical and psychological violence can employ penal (criminal law) and non-penal (outside criminal law) policies. Prevention efforts can be carried out by teaching children about the consequences of physical and psychological violence, their rights when subjected to such violence, and raising awareness among children who perpetrate physical and psychological violence by instilling in them the belief that such actions are reprehensible and detested by everyone.

Abstract

The relationship between religion (Islam) and culture is often manifested in accommodative, complementary, and conflicting forms, but for the people of South Banten, the relationship between religion and culture (tradition) looks more complementary. Islam and ancestral culture have similar values, so a dynamic, dialectical relationship is created so that an integral relationship is realized. This study employs an ethnographic approach, which explains in depth about humans, in this case the Cicarucub community. The method used is a qualitative method; this method develops and solves problems that have been described and analysed in terms of religious and cultural integrity. The results of this study state that there are cultural meanings that have similarities with Islamic teachings. The relationship between religion (Islam) and culture (Sunda) is proof that Islam is a dynamic religion; it is permissible to modify new teachings as long as they do not conflict with the al-Qur`an, hadith, the consensus of the scholars (ijma'), and qiyas (analogy). Sundanese culture is also a very dynamic culture, able to coexist with religious teachings, especially Islam.
