Abstract

The rapid growth of the esports industry in Indonesia presents unique challenges for professional teams such as EVOS Esports, particularly in strengthening fan engagement and loyalty in the digital era. This study aims to analyze fan sentiment toward the official Instagram posts of EVOS Esports using a deep learning approach with a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The research process involved data collection through web scraping, followed by preprocessing stages such as cleaning, case transformation, normalization, tokenization, stopword removal, and stemming. The dataset was then labeled, split into training and testing sets (90:10), and used for CNN model training and evaluation through a confusion matrix. The results demonstrate that the CNN model successfully classified comments into three sentiment categories—positive, negative, and neutral—with an accuracy of 92%. The model also achieved a precision of 0.92, recall of 0.92, and an F1-score of 0.92, indicating very good classification performance. Sentiment distribution analysis of 11,305 comments showed that neutral sentiment dominated (47.24%), followed by positive (30.12%) and negative (22.64%). These findings provide valuable insights into fan perceptions of esports team performance on social media. For future research, expanding the sentiment lexicon with terms commonly used in online communities is recommended to further enhance classification accuracy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the emotional representation in the lyrics of Juicy Luicy’s popular songs among Generation Z. Employing Roland Barthes’ semiotic framework and Stuart Hall’s theory of representation, this research explores how emotional meanings are constructed through linguistic and symbolic signs in the lyrics and how Generation Z audiences interpret them based on their social context. The study focuses on four songs: “Lantas”, “Tanpa Tergesa”, “Lampu Kuning”, and “Sialan", selected for their digital popularity and emotional resonance on platforms Spotify and YouTube. The findings reveal that the lyrics represent emotions such as dilemma, regret, uncertainty, and loss through simple diction, visual metaphors, and accessible symbols. These songs deliver emotional depth not only on a literal level but also connotatively, forming cultural myths around love and longing. Generation Z decodes these lyrics through the lens of their personal experiences, treating them as a reflective space for articulating emotional identity. Moreover, the lyrics serve as a medium for managing emotional stress and building social connections through shared empathy. Thus, the study affirms that Juicy Luicy’s lyrics function as a form of emotional communication and cultural representation in the lives of Generation Z.

Abstract

Toddlers in Indonesia are an age group that is vulnerable to the impacts of malnutrition. Central Java Province is the province with the highest number of cases of malnutrition in toddlers in Java, namely 9525 cases of malnutrition during 2023. This study aims to analyze the variables that influence malnutrition in Central Java Province in 2023. The data used are secondary data in 2023sourced from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), Central Java Provincial Health Service, and Badan Panga Nasional (BPN). The analysis method used is negative binomial regression for modeling enumeration data to overcome the problem of overdispersion in Poisson regression. The results of the analysis show that there is a negative influence of the variables of the percentage of households with access to proper sanitation, the food security index, and the percentage of babies receiving exclusive breastfeeding on the number of cases of malnutrition in toddlers. Meanwhile, the proportion of women aged over 15 years who have a maximum junior high school diploma has an effect on increasing cases of malnutrition in toddlers.

Abstract

This paper examines the role of Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT), or Women Farmers’ Groups, as a grassroots mechanism for enhancing rural women’s productivity and empowerment in Indonesia. Adopting a qualitative descriptive approach, the study was conducted in three villages in Blitar Regency, East Java, through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings demonstrate that KWTs play a pivotal role in increasing women’s household income, strengthening agricultural and entrepreneurial skills, and fostering leadership and community participation. Women involved in KWTs reported greater financial autonomy, confidence in decision-making, and access to local networks. Nonetheless, the study identifies persistent structural challenges such as limited access to capital, inconsistent training support, market dependency, and generational disengagement. To maximize the impact of KWTs, the study recommends integrated interventions that promote institutional support, financial inclusion, digital literacy, and youth participation. This research contributes to the growing discourse on gender, collective action, and rural development in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

Twenty-first-century education demands a transformation in teaching strategies, with a focus on cultivating higher-order thinking skills, especially critical thinking. Observations and interviews at SD Negeri 2 Bendoagung, SD Negeri 3 Bendoagung, and SD Negeri 2 Karangrejo revealed that students' critical thinking skills are still relatively low. One of the underlying causes is the application of instructional methods that fail to sufficiently stimulate critical thinking. This study seeks to investigate the effect of incorporating traditional engklek games into a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ critical thinking abilities in science education. The research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach, specifically using a nonequivalent control group design. The sample was selected purposively, involving fourth-grade students from SD Negeri 2 and 3 Bendoagung as the experimental group, while students from SD Negeri 2 Karangrejo acted as the control group. Data were gathered using a critical thinking test, and analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by an independent sample t-test. Results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group, with a 46.55% increase in critical thinking performance, compared to only 11.11% in the control group. The hypothesis test produced a significance (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which is below the 0.05 threshold indicating that the integration of traditional engklek games within a PBL framework has a positive impact on students’ critical thinking skills.
