Abstract

Background: Missed nursing care (MNC) is a global problem in nursing practice that impacts patient safety, quality of health care, and nurse job satisfaction. The nurse work environment has been identified as a key organizational factor influencing the accuracy of MNC. Purpose: To comprehensively analyse the relationship between the work environment and the incidence of missed nursing care in nurses based on publications from 2020-2025. Method: Methods of writing articles using a systematic scoping review approach, with article searches through the PubMed, ScienceDirect, Elsevier, and Google Scholar databases. The articles included are quantitative research and reviews relevant to the topic of the work environment and missed nursing care. Results: Most of the articles showed that an unfavourable work environment, such as understaffing, high workload, and low managerial support, was significantly associated with increased incidence of missed nursing care. Conclusion: The work environment plays a crucial role in missed nursing care. Improving the work environment is recommended as a primary strategy to improve the quality of nursing care and patient safety. Keyword: Missed Nursing Care; Nurses; Work Environment.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a major public health problem among the elderly, requiring community-based promotive and preventive approaches. The Elderly Integrated Health Post serves as a community empowerment strategy for hypertension control at the village level. Purpose: To analyze the implementation of community empowerment in hypertension management through the Elderly activities. Method: A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. In-depth interviews were conducted with eight informants consisting of health workers, the elderly integrated health post, village officials, and elderly participants as program beneficiaries. Data were analyzed thematically to identify implementation processes as well as supporting and inhibiting factors. Results: The findings indicate that community empowerment has been implemented through cadre involvement in blood pressure screening, health education, and monitoring of elderly health status. The Elderly the elderly integrated health post serves activities cover promotive and preventive aspects, including healthy lifestyle education and early detection of hypertension. Cross-sector collaboration between the primary health center and the village government supported program implementation. However, limited elderly participation, inadequate cadre training, and the reduction of supporting activities such as elderly exercise programs due to the elderly integrated health post serves integration have hindered optimal implementation. Conclusion: Community empowerment in hypertension management through the Elderly has been implemented but has not yet achieved optimal outcomes. Strengthening cadre capacity, providing continuous training, and developing more persuasive communication strategies are essential to enhance elderly participation and ensure program sustainability. Abstract

Background: Thesis often causes anxiety and affects mental health for final year students. It is common for students preparing a thesis to experience various psychological disorders, including stress, panic, fear, depression, and frustration due to academic burnout. Social support can affect a person's level of academic burnout and their desire to complete academic tasks, such as a thesis. Purpose: To analyse the findings from prior researches regarding the role of social support and academic burnout in final year students and determine the most dominant burnout dimension as stated in Maslach's burnout theory. Method: By identifying, screening, and selecting eligible studies from databases including Scopus and Google Scholar, the study adhered to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol. Result: The result revealed the role and relationship between social support and academic burnout in students completing their thesis and indicated Maslach’s three burnout dimensions (exhaustion, cynicism, and inefficacy). Conclusion: Among students who are in the process of completing their thesis, a significant negative association was identified between academic burnout and social support, with the exhaustion dimension as the dimension most often experienced by students. Abstract

Background: Resilience is an individual's ability to survive, adapt, and bounce back in the face of stress or problems. In adolescence, especially high school students, resilience is greatly influenced by the social environment, one of which is peer social support. Positive support from peers can help students manage academic and social stress more adaptively. Purpose: To determine the relationship between peer social support and resilience in high school students. Method: Quantitative design with a descriptive correlational approach and a cross-sectional design. The population of this study was high school students, with samples selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments were peer social support questionnaires and RISC 25 CD questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately using the Spearman Rho test. Results: Most students have moderate peer social support and high resilience. The results of the correlation test showed a P Value = 0.00 (P <0.05) with an r-count value = 0.496 which indicates sufficient correlation strength. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between peer social support and resilience in high school students. Keywords: Adolescents; Peer Social Support; Resilience.

Abstract

Background: Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric disorder with high relapse rates that significantly affect social functioning, quality of life, and healthcare burden. Medication adherence to antipsychotic treatment plays a critical role in maintaining clinical stability and preventing relapse; however, it remains a major challenge in clinical practice. Purpose: To examine the relationship between medication adherence and relapse among patients with schizophrenia through a narrative review approach. Method: Literature searches were conducted in Google Scholar, PubMed, NCBI, ScienceDirect, and Elsevier between January and February 2024 using keywords related to medication adherence, schizophrenia, and relapse. Of the 85 identified articles, 8 studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed narratively. Results: The review findings consistently demonstrated that non-adherence to antipsychotic medication was associated with a significantly higher risk of relapse, rehospitalization, and poorer long-term prognosis. Additionally, considerable variability was observed in the definitions and assessment methods of adherence and relapse across studies. Conclusion: Medication adherence is a key determinant in relapse prevention among patients with schizophrenia and should be a primary focus of long-term clinical management. Abstract

Background: The use of social media among early adolescents (aged 10–13 years) continues to increase, and this may affect their mental health, particularly social anxiety. Adolescents at this stage are undergoing a critical developmental phase, both physically and emotionally, making them highly vulnerable to the psychological impacts of excessive social media use. Purpose: To determine the relationship between the intensity of social media use and the level of social anxiety among early adolescents in elementary school. Method: A quantitative approach with a correlational and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 69 fifth- and sixth-grade students selected using Simple Random Sampling. Data were collected using the Social Media Usage Scale (SMPS) and the Social Anxiety Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Kendall’s Tau test to examine the relationship between the two variables. Results: The results showed that the majority of adolescents (55.1%) actively used social media, and most (60.9%) experienced moderate levels of social anxiety. The Kendall’s Tau correlation test indicated a significant relationship between social media use and social anxiety (p = 0.001; τ = 0.384), suggesting that the more frequently adolescents use social media, the higher their level of social anxiety. Conclusion: Social media use is significantly associated with social anxiety among early adolescents. Supervision from schools and parents is necessary to manage social media use wisely. Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a crucial developmental stage in the formation of self-identity. During this phase, individuals strive to recognize their potential, values, and life goals through self-exploration and social interaction. The development of technology and social media, particularly TikTok, has become part of adolescents' daily lives. TikTok provides a space for expression, entertainment, and social interaction, but high usage intensity has the potential to influence the process of self-identity formation. Purpose: To determine the relationship between the intensity of TikTok use and adolescent self-identity. Method: A quantitative method with a correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. The study population included 360 students in grades 10 and 11 aged 15–18 years. A sample of 79 respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique based on the criteria of active TikTok users for at least the past month. Results: Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test (ρ). The results showed that the majority of respondents had high TikTok usage intensity and a strong self-identity. Conclusion: The p-value = 0.199 (p > 0.05) and rₛ = 0.146 indicated no relationship between the intensity of TikTok use and adolescent self-identity. Abstract

Background: New students experience a transition period to university life that requires academic, social, and emotional adaptation. Students in the Bachelor of Nursing and Professional Nurse Program face more complex adaptation demands due to high academic workloads. Peer social support is considered to play an important role in helping new students adjust to the university environment. Purpose: To determine the relationship between peer social support and the adaptation of new students. Method: A quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design and a cross-sectional method. The research population consisted of all new students of the Bachelor of Nursing and Professional Nurse Program at ‘Aisyiyah University Yogyakarta in the 2025/2026 academic year, totaling 233 students. A sample of 77 respondents was selected using random sampling. Data were collected using a peer social support questionnaire and the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ). Data analysis was conducted using Kendall’s Tau test. Results: The results of Kendall’s Tau statistical test showed a p-value of p = 0,390 (p > 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of -0.097. These findings indicate that there is no significant relationship between peer social support and the adaptation of new students. The correlation coefficient shows a very weak relationship with a negative direction. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that peer social support has no significant relationship with the adaptation of new students. However, peer social support remains important as a supporting factor in the adjustment process of new students in the university environment.
