Abstract

The purpose of this Community Service (CS) is to provide an understanding of the function of the mangrove forests that have various benefits for the preservation of coastal ecosystems and clean up inorganic waste in the coastal areas. The method of community service was lecturing, demonstration, counseling and interview. The CS results were high awareness of the community to do the maintenance of the former pond land and garbage in the watershed and lastly mangrove trees can grow well. Suggestions for further CS is the need to make a proposal for sponsorship so that sustainability of these activities will occur.Keywords: community empowerment, coastal ecosystem, mangrove

Abstract

Hypertension is a health problem that needs attention in Indonesia. To decrease the incidence of hypertension, we could give health education to the community. Provision of information and education through learning media such as booklet was one effort to empower the community in preventing and performing hypertension treatment at home. Increasing health promotion through the provision of information and education using learning media was expected to improve the knowledge and self-efficacy of the community that will affect the behavior of the community. Pangandaran Regency is one of the target areas of Padjadjaran University where hypertension is one of the highest prevalence diseases. The purpose of this activity was to improve knowledge of community self-efficacy about prevention and treatment of hypertension. This activity was carried out from community surveys, booklet preparation, booklet socialization, and evaluation. At the implementation stage, the activity was followed by 22 people and 13 of them had hypertension. People who had hypertension were given hypertension management booklet then their knowledge and self-efficacy evaluate after one to two weeks. The result showed that there was an increase in the average knowledge and self-efficacy of them after the program. Besides that, there were differences in an average score of public knowledge before and after the giving of booklets, but there was no difference in the average self-efficacy score. This booklet can be used to provide health education to the community related to prevention and treatment of hypertension, so hopefully, there will be changes in behavior to manage hypertension.Keywords: Booklet, learning media, hypertension, knowledge, self-efficacy

Abstract

Cassava is one of the main local agricultural produced in Lembang sub district, West Java. However, this big potential is still not used optimally because of lack of skill and knowledge of local resident to produce higher economic product made from cassava. Most of resident only use it as raw material to produce traditional foods with relatively low economic value. One of alternative processing of cassava that can enhance higher profit is producing modified cassava flour, best known as mocaf. This training aims to give resident information and skill about mocaf and its process, also offer alternative use of cassava to get higher profit. The target of this training was several housewives joined in Syariah Micro Finance group living in Lembang sub district. This training was held by two sections, the first section was giving general information about mocaf and the second section was demonstrating and practicing how to make mocaf from fresh cassava and some foods made from mocaf. The result shows that audiences gave very good responses to the training. Making mocaf from cassava was new information for them. All audiences were able to practice how to make mocaf successfully. In conclusion,  the processing cassava to mocaf could be an alternative and potential business for local resident in Lembang sub district. Keywords:  cassava, food, mocaf, product,

Abstract

Bullying behavior because the victim experiences poverty or physical disability. The impact of bullying is self-esteem and affects maturity in students. School counselors have a role for skills, as well as collaborative efforts with the Peer Guidance approach. The method used in peer guidance training: (1) education, (2) training, (3) forum group discussion, and (4) brainstorming. Peer guidance to train actors to have empathy for the whole individual skills to listen, guide, reflection, conclude, confrontation, interpreating, and support. Peer guidance skills are used by students, offenders, or victims to prevent bullying.Keywords: berhaviour, bullying, peer guidance

Abstract

This article aims to describe devotion activities to a special school (SLB)’s teachers in Kudus regency about the models of science learning media for children with special needs (ABK). This activity is done by SLB’s teachers in Kudus regency, beginning with need analysis through literature and field study, workshop and mentoring activities, media implementation and product evaluation. The instruments used were interview sheets, observation sheets, questionnaires and test of learning outcomes. Based on the evaluation of practicality aspects, the media was easy to make and easy to use. Based on efficiency aspects, the media was made of safe materials, easy to obtain and affective’s cost. Based on effectiveness, this media was to facilitate teachers to explain the materials to ABK and the learning outcomes increased.Keywords: Science Learning Media, Children With Special Needs

Abstract

Knowledge and understanding of geographic information systems (GIS) in the field of disaster, GIS can provide a spatial visualization of the potential and mitigation. In implementing this devotion Seluma has a high potential for disaster. So the role and knowledge of GIS in Determining the potential for disaster in Seluma need to be socialized and simulated in order to provide a general description of potential disasters and SIG. GIS in disaster mapping capability to provide trend geographic information that can be understood and support the process of decision making in disaster. Socialization and simulation in service activities aim to: equip public knowledge of potential disasters and provide disaster mitigation efforts of community-based alternatives were alert, responsive and resilient to disasters. Service activities performed by a lecture and demonstration. Lecturing to socialize about potential disasters and GIS. Demonstration method to implement community-based disaster mitigation simulation. The results of the simulation activities of dissemination and disaster mitigation in the Cahaya Negeri Village, Sukaraja District of Seluma country, the regions most vulnerable to disasters is a top priority in mitigation measures. GIS for disaster preparedness is effective as a means of equipping the public knowledge of potential disasters and provide disaster mitigation efforts of community-based alternatives were alert, responsive and resilient to disasters. Judging from the success of the socialization of the target number of participants (85%), achievement of the objectives of socialization (72%), achievement of the target material that has been planned (78%), and the ability of the participants in the mastery of the material (70%). The success can also be seen from the satisfaction of participants socialization and simulation.Keywords: Socialization and Simulation, Disaster Potential and GIS

Abstract

Currently, there is a significant effort to improve students' understanding of mathematics, one of them is by teaching students to create an interesting mind map for students, involving students in the process of understanding the material taught, and certainly not boring, because the students are actively involved in the process is an effort in helping students to understand the concept so as to be able to construct knowledge. The learning process by showing the implementation of mind map is expected to change the atmosphere of the learning process which initially tends to be mastered by educators, become more active by applying mind map. This activity is aimed in first grade of the SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pringsewu in the academic year 2016-2017. The result of this activity is that students are able to present the material in mind map interpretation, so that students can construct knowledge creatively, according to what they understand, not just plagiarism of knowledge. So the result of the implementation of this activity is to increase the understanding of mathematical concepts, math problem-solving skills, and learning outcomes.Keywords: Mind Mapping, understanding of mathematical concepts, math problem solving, learning outcomes

Abstract

The result of this sports socialization based Society Serving activity is increasing the knowledge and made the students understanding the benefits of Petanque. So, the students can produce a proud achievement against Senior High School 1 OKU, especially in sports. After the socialization, the students are expected more enthusiastic and willing to practice Petanque and can determine which sports are right to be followed in the future. All in all, the seeds of best athlete are rising since in Senior High School level.Keywords: Petanque, Socialization, Senior High School
