Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: In Indonesia, inadequate hygiene practices often threaten food safety. This research aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of food traders towards their hygiene behavior. Methods: This research is an observational quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach conducted in June 2024 at Car Free Day Telanaipura, Jambi City. The research sampling technique used a total sampling method on 100 food traders. Data was collected through a questionnaire that assessed demographic profiles, knowledge, attitudes, and personal hygiene behavior and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: The results show that 60% of respondents have good knowledge, while 42% have a good attitude regarding personal hygiene. Statistical tests show a significant relationship between knowledge of personal hygiene behavior (p=0.047) and a significant relationship between attitudes towards the personal hygiene behavior of traders (p=0.028). Conclusion: Good knowledge and attitudes towards personal hygiene are associated with better hygiene behavior among traders. Therefore, increasing hygiene knowledge and attitudes among food traders needs to be strengthened through ongoing education and outreach to improve food hygiene standards in public areas. Abstract

Background: Exercise therapy is a medical rehabilitation intervention to increase upper and lower extremity muscle strength in post-stroke patients. Objective: This study aims to determine the characteristics of stroke patients at H. Abdul Manap Jambi Regional Hospital in 2022–2024, including age, gender, and history of comorbidities (hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia). In addition, this study identifies muscle strength before and after exercise therapy and analyzes the effect of therapy duration on increasing muscle strength. Methods: This study is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. Secondary data were obtained from medical records of stroke patients at H. Abdul Manap Jambi Regional Hospital from 2022 to 2024. The sample consisted of 52 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis used the Paired Sample T-test or Wilcoxon test based on the normality test. Results: Exercise therapy significantly increased upper and lower extremity muscle strength after exercise therapy (p <0.05). Most patients experienced improvement on the Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) scale, especially in the lower extremities, with a dominant increase from scores 2 to 3 and 4. Conclusion: Exercise therapy significantly increases upper and lower extremity muscle strength in post-stroke patients. Therefore, it can be recommended in rehabilitation to optimize motor function recovery.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Leprosy remains a public health concern in various countries, with approximately 250,000 new cases reported annually worldwide. Slit-Skin Smear results show the distribution of M. leprae in the skin and determine the degree of infectiousness and severity of multibacillary leprosy. PGL-1 antigens stimulate IgM antibody formation. Anti-PGL-I IgM indicates that the patient has an acute immune response or is actively suffering from leprosy. This study aims to determine the relationship between serum levels of anti-PGL-1 IgM and bacterial index (BI) values in multibacillary leprosy. Methods: This observational study employed a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted at Dr. Rivai Abdullah Leprosy Hospital and Sukajadi Public Health Center, Banyuasin District, South Sumatra Province. During February-November 2019, 30 study samples underwent Slit Skin Smear examination and serum level testing of IgM Anti PGL-1 antibodies using the ELISA method. Results: The findings showed that zero persons (0%) had anti-PGL-1 IgM values <605 μ/mL, and 30 people (100%) had anti-PGL-1 IgM values ≥605 μ/mL. BI scores <3 were found in 13 people (43.3%) and ≥3 in 17 people (56.7%). The study results demonstrated a significant correlation between anti-PGL-1 IgM levels and BI values in Multibacillary leprosy patients with p=0.036 (p<0.05). Conclusion: Higher bacterial index values correlate with increased serum levels of anti-PGL-1 IgM.Keywords: Anti PGL-1 IgM; Bacterial index; Slit skin smear

Abstract

Background: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease with diverse clinical manifestations depending on disease activity. Clinical manifestations, disease activity, and side effects of treatment can affect quality of life. The LupusQoL questionnaire assesses the disease's impact on eight quality of life domains. The Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) is an inflammatory biomarker that correlates with SLE disease activity. Objective: This research aims to determine the correlation between NLR and various domains of the LupusQoL questionnaire in SLE patients. Methods: This observational analytic study used purposive sampling, involving 32 SLE patients treated at Raden Mattaher Hospital, Jambi, in 2024. NLR was obtained from blood counts performed within the last 4 weeks, and HRQOL was measured using the LupusQoL questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation. Result: The mean NLR was 6.50 (1.3–29.43). LupusQoL showed the lowest score in fatigue (58.85). Pearson analysis revealed a moderate inverse correlation between NLR and the planning domain of LupusQoL (p= 0,022). NLR shows no statistically significant correlation with physical health, pain, intimacy, burden to others, emotional health, body image, or fatigue in SLE patients, as p-values >0.05. Conclusion: Higher NLR is correlated with lower planning domain HRQoL in SLE patients and vice versa.
