Scope The BEduManagers Journal : Borneo Educational Management and Research Jornal provides those interested in the effective management of the educational process with a broad overview of developments and best practice in the field, with particular reference to how new ideas can be applied in the educational environment and worldwide. Educational management refers to the administration of the education system in which a group combines human and material resources to supervise, plan, strategies, and implement structures to execute an education system. The education system is an ecosystem of professionals in educational institutions, such as government ministries, unions, statutory boards, agencies, and schools. As the whole structure and philosophy of education goes through a sea-change, and as budgets are cut, educational managers need to keep abreast of new developments in order to maximize their resources and determine the most appropriate management strategy for their institution.

The findings indicate that the library marketing strategy was implemented through the Literacy Friday program, integration with learning activities, student motivation, and reward systems. Supporting factors include school policies, BOS funding, literacy programs, external cooperation, and positive student responses. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consist of limited facilities and infrastructure, inadequate book collections, low reading interest influenced by technology, and budget constraints. The strategy has contributed positively to the school's image but still requires a more systematic and integrated development.

Abstract

Strategic planning is a fundamental component of school management that provides direction for sustainable educational development and quality improvement. This study aims to develop a School Strategic Plan (RENSTRA) for SMP Negeri 7 Samarinda for the 2026–2031 period based on a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis. The research employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, documentation, and literature review. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model, while strategic formulation was conducted using the IFAS, EFAS, and SWOT matrices. The findings indicate that SMP Negeri 7 Samarinda possesses significant strengths, including an A accreditation, well-established flagship programs such as an inclusive school, Adiwiyata School, and Population-Aware School (SSK), as well as adequate educational facilities and human resources. However, several challenges remain, including the need to enhance teachers' digital competencies, strengthen inclusive education services, and modernize school management. External opportunities, such as national education transformation policies, digital technology advancement, and strategic partnerships, provide considerable potential for school development despite increasing competition and rapid technological change. Based on the SWOT analysis, eight strategic priorities were formulated, covering academic quality improvement, character education, school digitalization, student achievement, environmental sustainability, teacher professional development, infrastructure modernization, and governance enhancement. These priorities were translated into measurable strategic objectives, key performance indicators, annual targets, and a five-year implementation roadmap. The novelty of this study lies in integrating SWOT analysis with a comprehensive strategic roadmap that includes measurable performance indicators and implementation targets, resulting in a practical and evidence-based strategic planning framework. The proposed model is expected to support sustainable school improvement and serve as a reference for other schools in developing strategic plans aligned with national education transformation policies.

Abstract

The development of Bontang as one of Indonesia’s industrial cities has had a significant impact on social, economic and environmental aspects. These conditions require students, as the intellectual generation, to possess critical thinking skills and good literacy in understanding, analysing, and providing solutions to various environmental problems arising from industrial activities. Indonesian language courses play a strategic role in developing these skills through critical reading, text analysis, scientific discussions, and the writing of academic papers based on local environmental issues. This study aims to analyse the improvement in students’ critical thinking skills and literacy abilities regarding the environmental conditions of Bontang City, an industrial city, through Indonesian language learning. The research method employed is a quantitative approach using a pretest-posttest design. The research subjects consist of students enrolled in the Indonesian language course. Data were collected through critical thinking tests, literacy tests, observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that Indonesian language learning that integrates local environmental issues is capable of enhancing students’ ability to identify problems, analyse information, evaluate arguments, and formulate logical, data-based solutions. Furthermore, students’ literacy skills also showed an improvement, as demonstrated by

Abstract

The management of the School Activity Plan and Budget (RKAS) application at SMP Negeri 5 Bengalon is a process that undergoes continuous improvement and updating each year. Consequently, this study aims to examine the management of the RKAS application, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and determine solutions to ensure school operations remain uninterrupted. This is a field study employing a descriptive qualitative approach, with informants including the School Principal, the Treasurer, and the RKAS Operator. Data collection techniques involved observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the management of the RKAS application encompasses planning, budget formulation, administration, implementation, budget disbursement, and accountability reporting. Supporting factors include hardware facilities (laptops), network infrastructure (Starlink), and early data validation. However, there are also obstacles, specifically the limited range of item descriptions available in the system compared to actual needs in the field. To safeguard internal school operations, the study proposes tactical solutions such as establishing priority scales, maintaining responsive team communication, and swiftly utilizing budget reallocation mechanisms. Externally, an early verification mechanism by the Education Office serves as a crucial preventive measure for the early detection of reporting errors.
