Abstract

This research investigates the impact of the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and Non-Performing Financing (NPF) on the Return on Assets (ROA) of PT Bank NTB Syariah over the period 2018–2024. The study applies a quantitative method utilizing multiple linear regression analysis based on secondary data sourced from the bank’s official financial reports. The findings reveal that CAR exerts a significantly positive influence on ROA, while NPF has no significant relationship with it. When analyzed together, CAR and NPF were also found to have no joint significant effect on ROA, implying that additional factors such as operational efficiency might play a role in determining profitability. These results highlight the crucial role of effective capital management in enhancing the financial performance of Islamic banks following their conversion to the Sharia system. Moreover, this study extends the body of knowledge on Islamic finance by providing new insights within the context of regional Islamic banking institutions.

Abstract

This researd aims to analyze the effect of asset structure, business risk, and sales growth on capital structure, and to test the role of profitability as a moderating variable in goods and consumer companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2019–2023 period. Capital structure in this study is measured by the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), asset structure by the ratio of fixed assets to total assets, business risk by the Basic Earning Power ratio, sales growth by annual sales growth, and profitability by Return on Assets (ROA). This study uses a quantitative method with a causality approach. Data were obtained from the annual financial reports of 39 goods and consumer sector companies selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression and residual tests to test the moderating effect of profitability which was tested using SPSS 25. The results of the researd indicate that asset structure, business risk, and sales growth have a significant effect on capital structure. In addition, profitability has been shown to moderate the effect of asset structure, business risk, and sales growth on capital structure. These findings reinforce the importance of asset management, risk control, and growth strategies supported by strong profitability in forming an optimal capital structure in goods and consumer sector companies.

Abstract

Muslim consumer awareness of halal products in Indonesia continues to grow, yet the implementation of halal certification in food and beverage MSMEs still faces various challenges. This study aims to analyze the implementation of halal certification for MSMEs using the maqashid sharia approach and SWOT analysis. The research method used is qualitative descriptive-exploratory through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings show that although the Free Halal Certification Program (SEHATI) and the OSS system ease access, MSME actors still face challenges related to digital literacy, understanding of procedures, and limited guidance. The SWOT analysis identifies strengths in religious motivation and regulatory support, weaknesses in technical-administrative aspects, opportunities from the growth of the global halal market, and threats in the form of digital inequality and low synergy between institutions. The maqashid sharia approach shows that digital halal certification contributes to the protection of religion, life, intellect, wealth, and business sustainability. This study highlights the importance of collaborative approaches and affirmative policies to enhance halal certification access for MSMEs, especially in peripheral areas.

Abstract

The concept of waqf also reflects the values of social care and sustainability in Islam. "Waqf of insurance policies" refers to the act of allocating the benefits or proceeds from an insurance policy for charitable or public benefit purposes. In this context, "insurance policy" refers to an insurance contract that involves the payment of premiums to an insurance company in order to obtain financial protection from certain risks, such as property damage, health, or other unforeseen events. This means that some or all of the benefits derived from insurance claims will be allocated for charitable or social benefit purposes, such as helping people in need, supporting education, or building public facilities. The waqf of insurance policies is an innovation to explore the potential of wealth so that it can be empowered more optimally as much as possible for greater benefits and also solve the problems of the people. This paper uses a qualitative approach and normative juridical methods as well as related literature. The results showed (1) Its existence can certainly open up greater opportunities to be able to grow the economic potential of the people so that it can be empowered for the general benefit and be able to solve various kinds of economic problems of the people. (2) Waqf of sharia insurance policies is part of a breakthrough in waqf management in exploring the economic potential of the people to distribute wealth effectively and on target. The synergy of naẓir, government, or related institutions is needed in the management, supervision, and development of waqf so that waqf assets remain productive, trustworthy, and truly useful to overcome the problems of the people, especially in the real sector. Abstract

The digital Gold Bank service from Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) presents a sharia-compliant gold investment innovation that makes it easier for people to access, buy, sell, and transfer gold digitally through the BSI Mobile application. This product is designed in accordance with sharia principles, using clear contracts such as murabahah and wadiah, and is supervised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) to ensure the halal status and certainty of gold ownership. The use of digital technology supports increased sharia financial literacy and inclusion, offering easy access, security, and efficiency in gold transactions without the need to store physical gold directly. While offering potential stability and investment benefits for the Muslim community, this service faces challenges such as annual administration fees, taxes on gold transactions, and the need for further education regarding financial technology. Overall, BSI Gold Bank is a modern solution that is relevant to the contemporary Islamic economic and financial context, while also supporting the achievement of the maqasid sharia objectives of wealth preservation and economic justice.

Abstract

This study analyzes the economic dispute in the palm oil sector concerning the price disparity between smallholder farmers and export markets in Central Kalimantan. Palm oil, as one of Indonesia’s main export commodities, significantly contributes to national income but also presents persistent inequality in its value chain. Farmers often receive low Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) prices due to dependence on middlemen, lack of land legality and institutional capacity, poor FFB quality, inconsistent government regulations, and limited market information. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design supported by a normative Islamic economic perspective emphasizing justice (‘adl), benefit (maslahah), and the prohibition of injustice (dzulm). Data were collected through interviews with farmers and relevant stakeholders, as well as secondary sources such as official reports and literature reviews. The results reveal that structural imbalances in price distribution and weak bargaining power of farmers lead to social and economic inequality. From the perspective of Islamic economics, these practices reflect elements of monopoly (ihtikar), fraud (ghishsh), and uncertainty (gharar), all of which contradict the principles of justice and transparency. Therefore, dispute resolution should prioritize non-litigation methods such as conciliation (al-sulh) and arbitration (tahkim) under Islamic arbitration bodies like Basyarnas. Moreover, the implementation of transparent and fair trade contracts—such as Salam and Istishna’—and government intervention based on maslahahare necessary to ensure equitable price mechanisms and improve the welfare of palm oil farmers sustainably.
