Abstract

Self-confidence is essential for a child's development and should be fostered from an early age. It is an attitude of certainty in one's abilities and pride in one's accomplishments. Nurturing self-confidence in early childhood is crucial for their future development. This study explores how wall climbing activities can promote self-confidence in young children. Wall climbing is a physical activity, sometimes considered an extreme sport, that involves scaling an artificial wall with artificial rock formations serving as handholds and footholds. Participating in wall climbing offers numerous benefits for young children, including building self-confidence. This qualitative study employed observation, interviews, and documentation to collect data. The research aims to investigate the role of wall climbing in fostering self-confidence in early childhood, identify factors that support children's self-confidence, and describe the challenges teachers face when implementing wall climbing activities. The findings indicate that wall climbing can instill self-confidence in young children by fostering self-assurance, optimism, courage, a positive attitude, and initiative. Verbal encouragement from teachers and facilitators plays a vital role in supporting children's self-confidence, especially when they experience doubt or fear. A key challenge identified was the climbing wall's design, which was deemed unappealing and unsuitable for young children. Therefore, a redesign is recommended to make the wall more engaging and challenging for this age group.

Abstract

The massive urbanization and spatial restructuring of Indonesian metropolitan areas have intensified gentrification, systematically displacing lower-income communities from city centers to peripheries—a condition this study conceptualizes as "internal exile"—while the classic text of Jeremiah 29:7 has been reductively deployed in Indonesian churches as a passive slogan to "pray for the city," stripped of its radical spatial and political implications. Employing a qualitative-interdisciplinary method that integrates biblical exegesis with the socio-spatial theories of Henri Lefebvre and David Harvey within a contextual hermeneutical framework, this article reinterprets Jeremiah 29:4–7 to demonstrate three claims: first, gentrification constitutes a structural form of internal exile that negates the marginalized population's right to inhabit urban life; second, the divine imperatives to "build houses," "plant gardens," and "seek the shalom of the city" are not passive survival instructions but subversive, counter-hegemonic mandates for economic rootedness, communal resilience, and active participation in public affairs within an oppressive urban system; and third, the prophetic call for shalom—understood as holistic justice and equitable access—demands that the church transcend its gated-community mentality and re-embody its missional identity as an agent of spatial advocacy and social solidarity with the displaced, thereby contributing to the development of a contextual Indonesian urban theology that refuses to divorce biblical fidelity from the concrete struggle for spatial justice.

Abstract

Digital transformation has become a strategic agenda for public sector organizations to improve governance, service quality, and organizational performance. However, technological advancement alone is insufficient to ensure successful digital transformation, as it also requires competent human resources, adaptive leadership, and sustainable employee well-being. Therefore, this study aims to analyze strategies for strengthening public sector human resource capacity and capability by integrating digital upskilling, transformational leadership, and employee well-being within a comprehensive conceptual framework. This study employed a qualitative approach using a literature review method by synthesizing evidence from recent peer-reviewed journal articles, international reports, and relevant policy documents. The findings indicate that digital upskilling enhances civil servants' competencies in digital literacy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, and evidence-based decision-making. Nevertheless, these competencies can only generate sustainable organizational outcomes when supported by transformational leadership that fosters innovation, continuous learning, and organizational adaptability, alongside employee well-being initiatives that mitigate technostress and maintain workforce engagement. This study concludes by proposing an integrative model that positions digital upskilling, transformational leadership, and employee well-being as complementary strategic capabilities for achieving adaptive, human-centered, and sustainable digital transformation in the public sector.

Abstract

Digital transformation in urban governance has encouraged local governments in Indonesia to adopt the Smart City concept as a sustainable development strategy. Surabaya City is one of the regions actively implementing the Smart City concept through Mayor Decree Number 100.3.3.3/282/436.1.2/2023 concerning the Surabaya Smart City Masterplan 2023–2026. One of the main pillars within this policy is Smart Environment, which focuses on improving environmental quality through information technology utilization, sustainable resource management, and community participation. This study aims to analyze the regulatory impacts of Smart Environment implementation on urban environmental management performance in Surabaya using the Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA) approach. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using regulatory documents, government reports, and scientific literature as data sources. The findings indicate that Smart Environment implementation has positively contributed to environmental governance, waste management systems, green open spaces, and environmental awareness. Nevertheless, challenges remain in terms of digital literacy disparities, institutional integration, and environmental technology infrastructure. Strengthening institutional coordination and human resource capacity is therefore essential to optimize Smart Environment implementation and support sustainable urban development.

Abstract

The proliferation of social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok has fundamentally altered the way Islamic preaching (da'wah) is composed, delivered, and consumed in Indonesia. What was once bound to the linear, face-to-face structure of the khutbah (sermon) delivered from the pulpit has been reconfigured into short, algorithmically circulated, and highly visual "content." This article examines how this shift in rhetorical form relates to the construction of Islamic identity among the millennial generation. Using a qualitative library research design combined with critical discourse analysis of existing scholarship, the study traces the transformation of da'wah rhetoric across three dimensions: structural (from the five classical canons of rhetoric to the algorithmic logic of platforms), authoritative (from scholarly lineage to affective visibility), and communal (from congregational presence to networked, parasocial belonging). The findings indicate that classical rhetorical appeals identified by Aristotle—ethos, pathos, and logos—remain conceptually relevant but are reconfigured by the affordances of digital media: ethos is now built through visual branding and follower metrics rather than institutional pedigree; pathos is intensified through short-form emotional storytelling; and logos is compressed into quotable, meme-able fragments of religious argument. This transformation contributes to a hybrid millennial Islamic identity that is simultaneously pious and performative, communal and individualized, orthodox in content yet informal in style. The article concludes that the transformation from khutbah to content does not eliminate rhetorical persuasion in da'wah but repackages it, with significant implications for religious authority, media literacy, and the pedagogy of contemporary Islamic communication.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of village government in administrative services to the community in Gantarang Village, Sinjai Tengah District, Sinjai Regency. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach through interviews, direct observation, and document review. The analytical focus covers the village organizational structure, service standard operating procedures, types and volume of administrative services, service-user records, archive management, and citizen complaints. The findings indicate that the village government performs service, regulatory, coordination, and facilitation roles through document reception, verification, letter issuance, and assistance to residents. Administrative services are supported by organizational structure, outgoing-letter records, service registers, and several standard letter formats. However, service certainty remains constrained by incomplete written procedures, limited service-information boards, manual archive systems, irregular monthly recapitulation, and undocumented complaint handling. The study recommends simple service SOPs, visible requirement lists, monthly register recapitulation, archive standardization, and a documented complaint mechanism. These improvements are essential to strengthen administrative accountability, service transparency, and public trust at the village level

Abstract

This study examines the persistent challenge of inconsistent character development in high school students, which leads to a "self-control separation" where positive behaviors diminish outside the school environment, contributing to social issues such as brawls and substance abuse. Existing literature on James Clear's Atomic Habits primarily focuses on internal discipline or younger age groups, leaving a significant gap in its application as a preventive behavioral shield against peer pressure for adolescents. Therefore, this research aims to reconstruct a new conceptual framework of the Atomic Habits model, specifically adapted as a proactive self-control mechanism for high school students to navigate peer pressure in non-formal settings. Employing a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review and conceptual analysis, the study primarily analyzes Clear’s Atomic Habits alongside relevant scientific articles and character pedagogy. Data analysis followed a thematic approach, involving comprehensive reading, systematic coding, and thematic connection to build a new conceptual model. Through an in-depth analysis of the primary source text of Atomic Habits by James Clear, the research reveals a reconstructed framework that shifts the focus from internal habit formation to an external, preventive behavioral shield. This model emphasizes the deconstruction of macro-character values into daily micro-habits, supported by choice architecture, enabling students to consciously design their environment and apply the four laws of behavior change (Make It Obvious, Make It Attractive, Make It Easy, Make It Satisfying) to resist peer pressure. This reconstructed framework offers a novel perspective on character education, empowering students with agency and self-control against external influences, thereby enriching the theoretical understanding of Atomic Habits in adolescent social resilience and providing practical guidance for educational interventions.

Abstract

The collaborative model of disaster management is very important in reducing disaster risk in disaster-prone areas, this is no exception for tourist attractions that are often visited by various communities. Bandung Regency has many tourist destinations that are prone to disasters, one of which is the Ciwidey area. Various policies and strategies have been prepared by the government in disaster management in disaster-prone areas including the Ciwidey tourist area. The existence of a Disaster Resilient Village in Bandung Regency is expected to reduce disaster risk. However, the Disaster Resilient Village program has not fully become a solution in disaster management, because villages alone are not enough to handle disasters, collaboration between various parties is needed to create disaster safe areas. The purpose of this study is to determine collaborative strategies for disaster mitigation in disaster-resilient villages in creating disaster-safe tourist areas in Bandung Regency. The stages of the research include identifying the optimization of the implementation of the Disaster Tangguh Village, reviewing government policies related to the Disaster Tangguh Village to then map out collaborative disaster mitigation strategies.
