Abstract

Cyberchondria refers to excessive and repetitive online health information seeking that paradoxically amplifies concern about one’s own health. Mainstream literature positions health anxiety as its strongest predictor, yet evidence from non-Western digital native populations remains limited. This study examined the relationship of health anxiety and social media use intensity with cyberchondria among Generation Z. A quantitative correlational design was applied to 358 participants aged 15–28 years in an Indonesian metropolitan area, recruited through purposive sampling. Data were collected using an adapted Cyberchondria Severity Scale, the Short Health Anxiety Inventory, and a social media use intensity scale based on Ellison’s aspects, with reliability coefficients of .923, .924, and .969 respectively. Data were analysed using Spearman’s rho correlation. Results showed that health anxiety was not significantly related to cyberchondria (rs = –.008; p = .880), whereas social media use intensity showed a significant positive relationship of moderate to strong magnitude (rs = .582; p < .001). Comparison of the two coefficients reveals the dominance of the external factor over the internal one. These findings indicate a shift in the entry point of the cyberchondria cycle among digital natives, from internal psychological vulnerability toward digital environmental exposure.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of multicultural communication implemented by the General Election Commission (KPU) of Tangerang Regency in the 2024 General Election socialization, identify community responses to its effectiveness, and map the obstacles encountered in a region with high ethnic and cultural diversity. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this research examines how adaptive communication strategies are employed to reach a heterogeneous society amidst challenges such as political literacy and potential polarization. The findings reveal that KPU implemented communication patterns capable of bridging differences in voters' cultural backgrounds through convergence strategies such as local language adjustments, interpersonal approaches, and segmenting communication media to increase public participation and maintain social stability during the democratic process, while utilizing divergence selectively for administrative clarity. Practically, this study serves as an evaluation for election organizers in designing more inclusive socialization models based on local wisdom in the future.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on Indonesia's tourism sector, which has long been one of the country's major sources of foreign exchange earnings. Restrictions on public mobility led to a substantial decline in tourist arrivals, hotel occupancy rates, and the overall activities of tourism-related businesses. In the post-pandemic era, the Indonesian government, together with various stakeholders, has undertaken efforts to revitalize the tourism sector by promoting high-quality and sustainable tourism development. One strategy considered to have considerable potential is the collaboration between the tourism sector and the creative industry. This article aims to analyze the role of the creative industry in supporting the recovery of Indonesia's tourism sector through a conceptual study approach. The research employs a literature review methodology by analyzing a wide range of scholarly publications, government documents, and statistical data related to the development of tourism and the creative economy in Indonesia. The findings indicate that the creative industry enhances the competitiveness of tourism destinations through product innovation, the adoption of digital technologies, strengthened destination branding, and the effective use of social media as a promotional platform. Furthermore, changes in tourist behavior following the pandemic have accelerated the emergence of experience-based tourism, hidden gem destinations, staycations, workcations, and sustainable tourism, further reinforcing the interconnection between the tourism sector and the creative economy. Therefore, cross-sector collaboration has become a key strategy for developing an adaptive, innovative, and sustainable tourism industry in Indonesia.

Abstract

Academic stress is almost always faced by students, both in Indonesia and globally, with impacts ranging from sleep pattern disruptions to decreased learning achievement. Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) is a widely used approach to deal with this condition, departing from the view that emotional disorders are not caused directly by events, but by individual beliefs in interpreting them. Comprehensive studies that link the basic concepts of REBT, the mechanism of ABCDE and empirical evidence  of irrational beliefs in students are still rare. This study analyzes the concept of REBT in explaining the formation of academic stress, identifies development opportunities and the relevance of its application in higher education and examines its intervention mechanisms. The research uses conceptual analysis with a literature method. The literature is searched from reputable scientific databases such as Google scholar, Frontiers, Elsevier etc. with the keywords Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and academic stress. The synthesis shows that the main source of academic stress itself, but also in students' irrational beliefs in the form of demandingness, awfulizing, low frustration tolerance, and self downing. The disputing process in the ABCDE method is a key mechanism for transforming beliefs into rational and adaptive, with stronger effectiveness when applied systematically by trained practitioners. REBT has great potential as a counseling guidance service in Indonesian universities to overcome academic stress from its cognitive roots, although empirical verification in Indonesian students is still needed.

Abstract

Members of the Tani Mandiri Farmers’ Group (Gapoktan) in LautTador Subdistrict, Batu Bara Regency, have received training and mentoring to maintain their Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification; however, several internal audit findings still indicate gaps in the implementation of best practices in the field. This study aims to examine the relationship between training and mentoring and farmers’ compliance scores with RSPO-based best practices in oil palm plantations, both individually and in combination. The research design was an explanatory survey of 79 farmers selected using proportionate stratified random sampling from among 377 certified members across five farmer groups. Data were collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, and then analyzed using multiple linear regression. The initial model yielded the equation Y = 4.545 + 0.936X1 + 0.270X2, with training (Beta = 0.573) and mentoring (Beta = 0.241) both showing positive and significant relationships with compliance scores (p < 0.01), and explaining 47.7% of the variance (F = 34.641; p < 0.001). Since the classical Glejser test indicated heteroscedasticity, these coefficients still need to be further confirmed using robust standard errors. These preliminary findings suggest that strengthening technical training and providing more regular on-site mentoring have the potential to support consistent compliance, although the cross-sectional design of this study cannot yet establish a causal relationship.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are increasingly required to improve their educational quality and global competitiveness while preserving their distinctive Islamic identity and traditional values. This study addresses the need to reconstruct educational governance based on pesantren values as a sustainable strategy for institutional excellence. The purpose of this study is to develop a value-based educational governance model that integrates indigenous pesantren philosophy with contemporary governance principles. A qualitative multi-case study design was employed involving three Indonesian Islamic boarding schools. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, document analysis, and field notes, and analyzed using the interactive model of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing with cross-case synthesis. The findings reveal that effective educational governance is built upon the integration of core pesantren values—ikhlas, amanah, syura, ukhuwah, ta'awun, tawassuth, and istiqamah—with transformational leadership, integrated quality assurance, digital governance, collaborative partnerships, and international engagement. Based on these findings, the study proposes the Excellent Islamic Boarding School Governance Model (EIBSGM) as a comprehensive framework for strengthening institutional quality while maintaining religious authenticity. The study concludes that governance reconstruction should prioritize the transformation of pesantren values into strategic governance principles rather than replacing traditional governance systems, thereby enabling Islamic boarding schools to achieve sustainable excellence and global competitiveness

Abstract

Gondang Batak serves as a symbolic-liturgical medium for the Batak community, deeply integrated into the worship system of Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) since the mid-20th century. However, the digital era, marked by streaming platforms and algorithmic curation, has shifted music consumption from physical communal presence to personal digital spaces, threatening intergenerational transmission of gondang knowledge among the youth. This study aims to comprehensively describe current liturgical practices, systematically analyze various digital challenges, and formulate effective preservation strategies. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach, it utilizes literature reviews, in-depth interviews with church leaders, and participatory observations in HKBP services. Findings indicate that gondang usage is primarily restricted to special festive celebrations, varies by location, and reveals significant generational gaps in appreciation. Key digital challenges include increasingly shifting youth preferences toward modern worship music, fierce competition on streaming platforms, and potential distortion of sacred meanings through commercialization. In response, HKBP has initiated musician training and digital archiving. This research recommends a critical inculturation liturgical model preserving theological integrity, alongside a digital marketing strategy using social media. Ultimately, preserving gondang is a theological imperative to incarnate the Gospel within Batak tradition, ensuring that rich cultural heritage and vibrant liturgical renewal coexist dynamically in contemporary worship.

Abstract

The rapid evolution of modern business models has led to the widespread adoption of partnership schemes, which frequently obscure genuine employment relationships (disguised employment relationships). This study aims to analyze in depth the legal implications of establishing employment status on the fulfillment of workers' normative rights and to evaluate the judges' legal reasoning (ratio decidendi) in the Industrial Relations Court Decision at the Central Jakarta District Court Number 191/Pdt.Sus-PHI/2023/PN Jkt.Pst. Utilizing normative legal research with statutory, conceptual, and case approaches, this study examines the fulfillment of employment elements under Law No. 13 of 2003 jo. Law No. 6 of 2023, comparing them with Supreme Court jurisprudence and accredited scientific literature. The findings reveal that the determination of employment status serves as a constitutive entry point for enforcing normative rights, social security guarantees, and protection against unilateral termination. Furthermore, the judge's ratio decidendi aligns with Gustav Radbruch's Formula by prioritizing the substance over form doctrine, the Control Test, and the Economic Dependency Test. Operational control, trip-based wage compensation, and economic dependency supersede formal partnership labels, thereby securing substantive justice, fair legal certainty, and social utility in industrial relations.

Abstract

The development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) provides new opportunities in the development of learning in higher education, including in the preparation of teaching materials that support the pedagogic competence of prospective teachers. However, the teaching materials in the Physics Learning Strategy Course are still dominated by the presentation of theory and have not integrated the systematic use of GenAI in the learning design process. This research aims to develop valid, practical, and effective teaching materials for GenAI-based Physics Learning Strategies to improve the ability to design learning for prospective physics teachers. The research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. The research subjects amounted to 34 students of the Physics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Malikussaleh University. Data collection is carried out through expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, rubrics on learning design ability assessments, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis of percentage, Normalized Gain (N-Gain), and effect size (Cohen's d). The results of the study showed that the teaching materials obtained a very good category based on the validation of media experts (84.57%–91.12%), material experts (86.18%–94.26%), and linguists (89.36%–93.21%). The results of the practicality test also showed a very practical category with a percentage of 89.15% in individual tests, 91.42% in small group tests, and 94.08% in field tests. The effectiveness of teaching materials was shown by the improvement of the ability to design learning with an N-Gain value of 0.79 and learning strategy competence of 0.76 which was in the high category, and effect size (Cohen's d) of 1.48 and 1.36 respectively which showed a very large effect. Thus, the GenAI-based teaching materials developed meet the criteria of valid, practical, and effective so that they are suitable for use as a learning resource in the Physics Learning Strategy Course.
