Abstract

Infusion or intravenous fluids are given through a vein to replace fluids or nutrients lost from the body. Manual monitoring of infusions by nurses often carries a risk of error. To overcome this, a tool was developed that uses a loadcell sensor to measure liquid weight, an infrared sensor to detect droplets, and an ESP32 module to send data in real time to a database and display it on a monitor screen or website. This system provides a warning when the infusion fluid is less than 100 ml. Even so, there is an error in the loadcell sensor of 0.1% -0.2%, and the drip sensor readings are sometimes not detected due to certain factors. Apart from monitoring infusion fluids, the system also allows input of patient data via the website. Overall, the tool functions as intended, although there are still some aspects that need improvement.

Abstract

The increasing dependence on fossil fuels drives the need for alternative energy solutions to reduce environmental impacts and reliance on petroleum. Coal, particularly anthracite, has emerged as one of the best options due to its abundant availability in Indonesia. However, coal combustion often results in the emission of harmful gases, requiring special handling. This study aims to develop coal briquettes using lime water as a binder. In addition to improving the mechanical characteristics of the briquettes, lime water is also intended to reduce sulfur gas emissions during the briquette combustion process. The briquettes were produced using a binder-to-water ratio (5:6, 5:7, 5:8, 5:9), pressing pressure (8, 9, 10 tons), and drying time (2, 4, 6 days). Compression testing was conducted following the ISO 844 standard using a Universal Testing Machine. The highest result in this study was 502 kPa (5.11 kg/cm²), achieved with a binder-to-water ratio of 5:9, a pressing pressure of 8 tons, and a drying time of 4 days. However, this result remains far below the SNI standard (50 kg/cm²).

Abstract

Coal is one of Indonesia's most abundant energy and mineral resources in the mining sector, remaining a primary energy source globally. This study aims to analyze the effect of combining anthracite coal and coconut shell charcoal powder on the compressive strength of briquettes with variations in process parameters, including temperature, heating time, and water:molasses ratio as a binder. Briquettes were produced using a composition of 90% anthracite coal and 10% coconut shell charcoal powder, with molasses binders in ratios of 4:1 and 4:3. Compressive strength tests were conducted at temperatures of 100°C and 120°C with heating times of 60 and 90 minutes. The results indicate that the optimal combination to achieve the highest compressive strength was at a temperature of 120°C, a heating time of 90 minutes, and a water:molasses ratio of 4:3, yielding a compressive strength of 506.3 kPa (5.166 kg/cm²). Increasing temperature and a higher molasses ratio significantly improved the mechanical strength of the briquettes, while prolonged heating at lower temperatures tended to reduce compressive strength due to binder degradation. Therefore, further research is needed to optimize process parameters to meet national standards and enhance briquette durability.

Abstract

In The World Of Education, The Bell Is One Of The Important Innovations Used To Inform The Turn Of Time Or Important Events. This Android-Based Microcontroller Bell System Is A Form Of Development Of The Bell Innovation. This Research Was Conducted At SMP Setia Budi Sungailiat With The Aim Of Improving The Efficiency And Effectiveness Of Using The School Bell And Developing An Application That Is Easy To Use Because Based On Direct Observation, It Shows That The Use Of Electric Bells At The School Is Less Efficient. In Some Situations, When Teachers Or Staff Are Not In The Room, The Bell Is Often Rung By Students, Which Makes Its Use Less Effective. Through A Case Study Approach And Prototype Method, This Research Developed An Application That Allows Controlling The School Bell Through An Android Application. The Application Is Equipped With Features To Set The Bell Schedule To Be Rung As Well As Set The Real Time Time Automatically. The Results Show That The System Is Able To Save The Bell Schedule And Ring It According To The Specified Time And According To The Selected Sound. The Results Of Questionnaire Testing On Respondents Obtained A Percentage Value Of 80%.

Abstract

Binders play a vital role in briquette production by uniting charcoal particles into a solid form. This study aims to evaluate the effect of tapioca starch concentration as a binder on reducing the ash content of coconut shell briquettes. The binder concentrations used were 10%, 15%, and 20% of the total material mixture, with ash content testing conducted according to SNI 01-6235-2000 standards. The briquette production process involved raw material preparation, mixing, molding, and drying. The results indicated that binder concentration significantly influenced the ash content of the briquettes. Lower binder concentrations resulted in reduced ash content, with the lowest ash content of 1.52% achieved at a binder concentration of 10%. Conversely, higher binder concentrations tended to increase ash content due to residual binder that did not fully combust. This study emphasizes the importance of regulating binder concentration to enhance the quality of coconut shell briquettes as an alternative fuel source.

Abstract

The performance of a machine significantly impacts the outcome on the workpiece. Therefore, regular maintenance of the machine is necessary. Over time, the machine's performance tends to decline. From the results of surface roughness testing on workpieces using variations in RPM and depth of cut parameters with constant feeding, the highest roughness value was 4.483 μm, produced by BU 27 and BU 30, with the highest roughness value of 2.694 μm. This study aims to test and verify the machine's performance level by examining the surface roughness values of ST41 workpieces. The research employs an experimental method, followed by processing the roughness data of machining results using a Bemato series 44378 lathe, involving 9 specimens and 2 replications.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the optimal parameters in the CNC Milling process to produce low surface roughness and improve the quality of brake pad molds. By applying the Taguchi method, the results showed that the process parameters have a significant effect on surface roughness. Data analysis revealed that increasing feed speed and depth were positively correlated with surface roughness. Of the parameters tested, feed speed had the largest contribution of 40.46%, followed by feed depth of 14.01%, and spindle speed of 12.36%. The optimal parameter combination proposed to achieve the best surface roughness is a feed speed of 100 mm/min, a feed depth of 0.2 millimeters, and a spindle rotation of 3343 RPM. These findings provide an important contribution to the automotive industry to improve the efficiency and quality of brake pad production, a component that plays a crucial role in vehicle safety.

Abstract

The transition away from reliance on fossil fuels is critical to fostering the development of renewable energy sources, with briquettes emerging as a particularly popular alternative. This study evaluates the effects of drying processes and variations in binder fractions on the compressive strength of anthracite briquettes. The briquettes were produced using binder fractions (water: dolomite lime) of 4:10, 4:12, 5:10, and 5:12 and subjected to mechanical pressures of 8, 9, and 10 tons with drying durations of 2, 4, and 6 days. The findings indicate that the 5:12 binder fraction achieved the highest compressive strength of 544 kPa after 6 days of drying, reflecting enhanced mechanical strength due to increased dolomite lime content. Conversely, an optimal drying time of 4 days was identified, balancing moisture reduction and briquette structural stability. This research provides valuable insights for developing high-quality briquettes as efficient and environmentally friendly renewable energy sources.

Abstract

Spinach chips are an innovative and healthy snack made primarily from spinach leaves mixed with flour and fried, where the oil-draining process plays a crucial role in determining the final product's quality. Home industries often rely on traditional methods, such as air-drying, although oil-draining machines have been introduced to Jabal Dinar SMEs. However, these machines require improvement due to excessively high and unstable rotation speeds. This study aims to identify the causes of instability and analyze the effects of varying rotation speeds (300, 400, 500 rpm) and draining durations (40, 60, 80 seconds) on product quality. The results indicate that the optimal speed is 400 rpm with a draining duration of 80 seconds, achieving a final weight of 77% while maintaining the texture and crispness of the spinach chips without breaking. In contrast, a speed of 500 rpm removes more oil, but the excessive centrifugal force damages the product due to the chips' thin and fragile nature.

Abstract

Noise is a serious problem that affects human health and comfort. This study aims to develop natural soundproofing materials from sawdust and egg trays as a more economical alternative to conventional soundproofing materials. Using an experimental method, this study analyzed the effect of volume fraction and specimen thickness on the sound absorption coefficient. The ANOVA results showed that both factors had a significant effect on certain frequencies. Specimens with a volume fraction of 40%:10% and a thickness of 20 mm produced the highest sound absorption coefficient of 0.163, while specimens with a volume fraction of 35%:15% and a thickness of 10 mm recorded the lowest value of 0.04. These findings indicate that the optimal combination of volume fraction and thickness can increase the effectiveness of the material in reducing noise, providing a sustainable solution to overcome noise problems in the surrounding environment.
