Abstract

Renewable energy, particularly wind power, offers a relevant solution to address climate change challenges and the growing electricity demand, especially in coastal areas such as Pantai Teluk Uber, Bangka Belitung. This study develops a Wind Power Generation System (PLTB) based on the Internet of Things (IoT) for real-time monitoring via smartphones. The system utilizes a wind turbine equipped with an anemometer sensor for wind speed, an INA219 sensor for monitoring current and voltage, and a BH1750 sensor for measuring light intensity. The collected data is transmitted to an IoT platform for remote monitoring. Additionally, the system was tested for battery charging and discharging, with charging requiring approximately 8 hours at an average current of 1 A, and discharging lasting around 10 hours with a 12V 10W DC lamp load. The maximum power generated by the system is 6.73 watts at a wind speed of 9 m/s, while the minimum power recorded is 0.35 watts at a wind speed of 2 m/s. The results show that the IoT-based PLTB system can efficiently provide energy for nighttime lighting and other applications.

Abstract

A student attendance system based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology with fingerprint sensors and whatsapp notifications was developed to improve accuracy, efficiency, and security in recording attendance in an educational environment. This research aims to design and implement an attendance system that utilizes fingerprint sensors to authenticate student attendance data legally and sends realtime notifications to parents via WhatsApp. The development process begins with data collection through literature studies and needs analysis to design the required features. The system is designed by integrating hardware in the form of fingerprint sensors and IoT modules and software that includes mobile applications and framework-based websites. Testing is carried out in stages, from unit tests to integration tests, to ensure all components work properly. System implementation involves the use of tools by students and lecturers as well as regular maintenance to ensure operational sustainability. The results show that this system is able to reduce the potential for fraud in attendance, improve the efficiency of recording, and strengthen communication between the campus and parents. Thus, this system is expected to be an effective solution in overcoming attendance problems in higher education, especially at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic.

Abstract

Educational games are games that contain learning content, including Mathematics learning. The Mathematics educational game development project aims to improve the ability of junior high school students in grade VII to understand basic Mathematics concepts in the field of Planar Buildings by incorporating Mathematics learning materials into educational games of the RPG (Role Playing Game) type. The research method used in this study is Research and Development, with the ADDIE development model. This development process includes several main stages, namely analyzing student needs by conducting interviews with grade VII Mathematics subject teachers, designing prototypes or game flows, developing educational game applications using Construct 2, testing involving material experts, and media, and direct testing on grade VII junior high school students. The validation results from material experts reached 84% and media expert validation reached 90% with valid criteria. Application testing with Black Box Testing on grade VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Sungailiat obtained an effectiveness level of 91.6%. Thus, the Datar Building educational game for grade VII junior high school students is declared valid and feasible.

Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) allows the integration of hardware with internet networks for remote control and regulation. IoT is a technology that allows various devices to connect and communicate with each other over the internet, thus enabling efficient automation. This research develops a Smarthome application called EDITH that operates based on IoT. The app allows control of the lighting device through a smartphone with additional features such as scheduling, energy monitoring, and usage history. The system uses the NodeMCU ESP32 as a microcontroller that is integrated with the Adafruit.io server. The test results show that EDITH can function effectively in controlling the lights remotely, with a user satisfaction rate of 84%.

Abstract

A motorcycle protection system based on Face Recognition was developed to improve security and prevent theft. This system combines protection key technology with a real-time location tracking feature connected via an Android application. NodeMCU is used as the main controller that integrates the GPS module to obtain motorcycle location data, while Firebase functions as a storage and processor of location data displayed on the application. This system is designed to control motorcycle electricity, including turning the motorcycle on and off via the application, while monitoring the location of the motorcycle with high accuracy. Testing was carried out to assess the function of key protection and motorcycle location tracking. The system has proven to have a fast response time and is reliable in controlling motorcycle electricity, both for one unit and several motorcycle units at once. Location tracking testing showed a success rate of 99% with a very low error of 0.0003%, while the data displayed on the application and Firebase has an accuracy of 100%. The results of the study show that this system can replace manual ignition with a better level of security. In addition, the location tracking feature provides additional benefits for users to monitor the position of the motorcycle in real time with accurate and reliable data.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of machine temperature on the process of making 3D printing filament from recycled plastic water bottles on filament quality, focusing on tensile testing as the main mechanical parameter. The filament produced from recycled PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) plastic bottles is used in 3D printing, representing an approach to reduce plastic waste. The filament-making machine's temperature is considered a significant variable that can influence the mechanical properties of the produced filament, including tensile strength. In this study, the Taguchi L4 method was employed, resulting in 12 test specimens with varying machine temperatures (210°C and 220°C), pulling speed (18 RPM and 24 RPM), nozzle temperature (260°C), bed temperature (90°C), print speed (50%), and infill density (107.1%). The results showed that the optimum outcome was achieved in the third experiment, with a combination of 220°C machine temperature and 18 RPM pulling speed, with an average tensile strength of 59.6 MPa. This study contributes to optimizing the process parameters for making 3D printing filaments from plastic water bottles.

Abstract

The carbon steel chosen for this research is S55C steel which is medium or medium carbon steel. The hardening process is a heat treatment process carried out with the aim of increasing the natural hardness of metal or steel. This process is carried out at high temperatures, namely at the austenization temperature which is used to dissolve cementite in austenite which is then quenched quickly. The method used in this research is experimental. The parameters used in this research were temperatures of 880°C, 950°C, and 1020°C and used seawater, salt water, and oil as cooling media. Based on the hardness test results after the hardening process, the combination of temperature 1020°C and sea water produces the lowest average hardness, namely 24.8 HRC, and the combination of temperature 1020°C and salt water produces the highest average hardness, namely 40.

Abstract

Rice plants typically grow in paddy fields, but they can also be cultivated in dryland areas, known as upland rice. This study aims to examine the effect of applying the micronutrient boron on the growth and morphological characteristics of two rice varieties, IPB 3S and IPB 9G, conducted at the Leuwikopo experimental field of IPB using the legowo planting system. The treatments consisted of four combinations: no boron application on IPB 9G and IPB 3S varieties, and boron application on both varieties. Boron was applied at a concentration of 20 ppm through foliar spraying on the lower leaf surface three times during the growing period. Observations were made on plant characteristics, including leaf shape and position, plant height, number of tillers, flowering age, panicle exertion, and grain characteristics. Based on the results, it can be concluded that rice grain filling is influenced by pollen production and viability, which can increase the percentage of filled seeds and seed production. However, the production results in this study could not be analyzed due to bird pest attacks, which resulted in the absence of harvest data. Therefore, further research is recommended with more optimal plant protection to accurately obtain seed production data.

Abstract

Corn is a strategic food crops in Indonesia besides rice and soybeans and efforts to meet their needs is through the expansion of crop land. This study aimed to obtain a map of the suitability of land for the cultivation of corn and draw up recommendations for improving the productivity of land management in Muara Bangkahulu District, Bengkulu City. The research was carried out from December 2020 to February 2021. Implementation of this study consists of four stages those are, preparation stage, the field survey, analysis and interpretation of data, and the determination of land suitability classes. The information that obtained are presented with descriptive to determine land suitability classes, as well as obtaining the land suitability class relationship with the productivity of corn in the subdistrict of Muara Bangkahulu, Bengkulu City. The results of research showed that from 2,396 ha area of Muara Bangkahulu Bengkulu city, which can be used mainly for agricultural expansion include 25.4 hectares of open land, shrubs 125.8 ha, 587.5 ha of mixed farms and rice fields 695.2 ha. For the development of corn plants can be done in the open land and shrubs with an area of 151.2 ha of potential land are suitable for the 76.87 ha and 74.33 ha of corn crops are not suitable. Recommendations to improve the management of land suitability classes actually be potentially which are aplication with dolomite and calcite.

Abstract

Efficiency in setting PID parameters is important in supporting control system performance, especially in automation applications. This research compares two methods of PID settings, namely manually using keypads and LCDs with an online IoT-based way through the Blynk application. The system is designed to control the speed of a 12V DC motor with the response of an FC-51 infrared sensor. Testing is done through an experimental approach by recording the system response to variations in KP, KI, and KD values. The results show that the IoT-based method provides better control efficiency, high flexibility, and ease of data visualization in real time. Blynk also allows storing historical data in graphical form, although it has limitations, such as a maximum limit of sending 30,000 data per month and a limited number of widgets in the free version. Therefore, for future development, it is recommended to use a standalone dashboard or integration with Node-RED to make the system more flexible, secure, and minimal code. Overall, this research shows that the application of IoT to PID control systems can improve the effectiveness of settings and has the potential to be applied more widely in modern automation systems.
