Abstract

This article aims to: (a) present a manuscript description of Hikayat Nabi Ada, (b) present the script translation of the teks of Hikayat Nabi Ada, (c) presents the script translation of the teks Hikayat Nabi Ada. The type of this study is philological research, this study aims to generate transcription and translation of a manuscript based on the stages and method of philological study. The focus of this are manuscripts and texts namely Hikayat Nabi Ada. This research used philological method which consisting of several stages of research. At the stage of data collection, this research used library research. After that, the stage of manuscript description, the researcher used descriptive method, then used transcription and translation method at the last stage. There are three findings of this research, that is ; (a) the form of description of the manuscript Hikayat Nabi Ada which is described based on things that have been determined in describing or identifying the manuscript; (b) the transcription of the text Hikayat Nabi Ada are from Arabic-Malay script to Latin script, the language in the text of Hikayat Nabi Ada is Malay; (c) translation of Hikayat Nabi Ada text is translated from Malay to Indonesian. The purpose of the translation is to facilitate readers who cannot understand the Malay language, so that the contents contained in the manuscript can be understood by the reader. The Hikayat Nabi Ada text tells the story of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad from the womb of his mother until marriage.

Abstract

Literary works are a reflection of the social reality that exists in the environment in which they are created. One of the problems of life that has received a lot of attention and has received various assessments from the community is the problem of disability. This research aims to describe: (1) the forms of disabilities borne by the characters in the novel Pasukan Matahari by Gol A Gong, (2) the causes of disabilities borne by the characters in the novel Pasukan Matahari by Gol A Gong, (3) the impact of disabilities borne by the characters in the novel by Gol A Gong. This research is a literary research using descriptive method. The data is in the form of words, phrases, clauses and sentences related to disability and in the form of narrator descriptions, character speech, character actions contained in the novel Pasukan Matahari by Gol A Gong. The results of this study are: (1) the form of disability carried by the characters in the novel Pasukan Matahari by Gol A Gong, consists of only one form of disability, namely physical disability (disability). (2) the cause of disability in the novel Pasukan Matahari by Gol A Gong only consists of one cause, namely an accident. (3) The impact of disability in the novel Pasukan Matahari by Gol A Gong consists of two impacts, namely: (a) social and emotional impacts, (b) physical and health impacts. The social-emotional impacts that occur to the characters are heartache, limited social activities, feeling a burden on others. While the physical and health impacts that occur to the character are physical differences with other people and must use assistive devices such as crutches.

Abstract

Abstract This article was written based on the results of research on the use of acronyms in the social media Facebook statuses. The choice of social media Facebook status as a data source was motivated by the large number of acronyms found on social media Facebook status, making it difficult for readers to understand them, such as the Facebook accounts of presidential candidates in 2024 which still use acronyms in party names, names of communities, institutions, other words. trends, activities and more. Therefore, the problem presented in this article specifically concerns the use and pattern of forming acronyms in the social media Facebook status of presidential candidates in 2024. The data processed is in the form of words or phrases contained in the Facebook status object of presidential candidates in 2024. The method used Data collection uses a descriptive method, namely research that is carried out without using numbers but is obtained in the form of descriptive data in the form of vocabulary, but the data is taken first by copying and pasting the data. The results obtained are words that are shortened into acronyms and patterns of acronym formation from the data. The results of this research can be used to enrich language knowledge and lecture materials, including in morphology courses.

Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) the structure of the Talempong Batu legend folklore in Kenagarian talang Anau, Gunuang Omeh District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, (2) the social function of the Talempong Batu legend folklore in Kenagarian Talang Anau, Gunuang Omeh District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. This type of research is literary research in the field of oral literature using descriptive methods. The data of this research is the folklore of the legend of Talepong Batu in Kenagarian Talang Anau, Gunuang Omeh District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The collected data is then analyzed in several stages (1) data description stage (2) data classification stage or data analysis stage (3) discussion or conclusion stage of the classification or data analysis results (4) reporting stage. The results of this study are (1) the structure of the Talempong Batu legend folklore in Kenagarian Talang Anau Kecamtan Gunuang Omeh Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota consists of; (a) the language style in the folk tale of the Talempong Batu legend uses the Minangkabau language in Kenagarian Talang Anau, Gunuang Omeh District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, (b) characters and characterizations in the folk tale of the Talempong Batu legend there are two characters, Samsudin and Mother, (c) the setting in the story includes place setting, time setting, and social setting, (d) the plot or story is a conventional plot using three stages, namely, the initial stage, the middle stage, and the final stage, (e) theme (f) mandate.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to provide a physical description of the Hikayat Raja Handak manuscript, to present the transliteration of the Hikayat Raja Handak manuscript, and to present the translation of the Hikayat Raja Handak manuscript. This research belongs to the field of philological research. The research method used is the philological method, which involves several stages. The data collection stage utilizes the data inventory method, the manuscript description stage employs the descriptive method, the transliteration stage utilizes the script transfer method, and the translation stage employs the language transfer method. The results of this study include: a description of the Hikayat Raja Handak manuscript, which has been described based on the necessary considerations for manuscript identification and description; the presentation of the transliteration in the Hikayat Raja Handak manuscript. The transcription is carried out following the researcher's transcription guidelines without altering the content or word order of the manuscript; (c) the presentation of the translation of the Hikayat Raja Handak manuscript, which is transliterated from Malay into Indonesian. The translation is done to facilitate readers' comprehension of the Malay language, enabling them to understand and comprehend the contents of the manuscript. The Hikayat Raja Handak manuscript narrates a war between Prophet Muhammad and King Handak, the grandson of Prophet Solomon. King Handak was killed in battle by Ali's sword, known as Zulfikar. Ultimately, King Handak's people were conquered by the Islamic army, thanks to Ali's prowess.

Abstract

Pop novels are frequently undervalued due to their tendency to present a superficial and oversimplified portrayal of love. This research analyzed the depiction of love between characters in Tere Liye's novel Sunset Bersama Rosie (2017). Employing a content analysis methodology guided by Erich Fromm's theory, this study identifies five distinct concepts of love: love of neighbor, erotic love, love of God, love of self, and maternal love. The analysis uncovers a nuanced exploration of these concepts, particularly in the evolving relationships between the main characters. Notwithstanding its classification as a pop genre novel, Sunset Bersama Rosie offers an exceptionally diverse spectrum of love, showcasing a depth that is uncommon within the genre.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the form of changes in the main character's behavior in the novel Seperti Dendam Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas by Eka Kurniawan, the stimulus received by the main character in the novel Seperti Dendam Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas by Eka Kurniawan and the main character's response to the stimulus. This research uses literary psychology theory and is a qualitative research that uses descriptive method. Eka Kurniawan's novel entitled Seperti Dendam Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas is used as the data source for this research. The data collection methods include reading and understanding Eka Kurniawan's novel, finding and recording the main and additional characters in the novel, identifying events related to changes in the main character's behavior, and collecting data on changes in the main character's behavior. The validation technique used in this research is triangulation technique. The data analysis technique in this research is classifying the data based on the speech/actions or thoughts of the characters and narrators related to the form of behavior change, stimulus and response of the main character, analyzing/interpreting the data, formulating the results of data analysis, and writing a report. The results of this study are; (1) forms of changes in the main character's behavior. forms of behavior change are grouped into two parts namely; (a) natural changes, and (b) planned changes, (2) Stimuli obtained by the main character are grouped into two parts namely (a) Unconditioned stimulus and (b) Conditioned stimulus. and (3) The main character's response to the stimulus he received is grouped into two parts namely; (a) Unconditioned Response and (b) Conditioned Response.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the form of violence in the novel Elgara by Lusiafriaa, the factors that cause violence in the novel Elgara by Lusiafriaa, and the impact of violence in the novel Elgara by Lusiafriaa. The theory in this research is literary sociology theory. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data source of this research is the novel Elgara by Lusiafriaa. The steps taken in collecting data for this research are reading and understanding the novel Elgara by Lusiafriaa, identifying the main and additional characters in the novel Elgara by Lusiafriaa, looking for and recording events that describe violence in the novel Elgara by Lusiafriaa, inventorying data on violence in the novel Elgara by Lusiafriaa. The validation technique used in this research is triangulation technique. The data analysis technique in this study is to classify the data based on the speech/actions or thoughts of the characters and narrators related to the forms of violence, factors causing violence, and the impact of violence, analyze (interpretation) the data, conclude the results of data analysis, and write a report. The results of this study are forms of violence consisting of physical violence and psychological violence. Factors causing violence consisting of individual factors and social factors. The impact of violence consists of physical impact, psychological impact, and social impact.

Abstract

This research aims to reflect women's biological experience, women's language, women's psychology in the memoir Berteman dengan Kematian by Sinta Ridwan. This research uses the approach of Ginokritik Studies. The method used in this research is descriptive method with content analysis technique. The results of the data on the gynocritical analysis of the memoir Berteman dengan Kematian by Sinta Ridwan showed that there are three gynocritical models, namely: (1) women's biological experience, namely women's bodily experience, expressing all feelings, inner voices, women's desires, the appearance of the female body. (2) women's language expression, namely using their own style and language to model women's language, women's language can be seen from the aspects of conversation, intonation, and strategies in women's language (3) women's psychological experience, namely the experience and psychology of the author of all the emotions depicted in the work based on the author's psychological situation, female authors write stories with a background of suffering and madness as a form of expressing all the emotions that occur to women.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the forms, causes, and impact of structural poverty in the novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu by J.S. Khairen. Drawing on the principles of literary sociology theory, a descriptive method is employed, utilizing content analysis techniques. Through data analysis, five distinct forms of structural poverty are identified: limited access to education, inadequate healthcare services, lack of sanitation and clean water, limited job opportunities and unfair wages, and insufficient social welfare support. The factors contributing to poverty are categorized as either individual or government-related. Moreover, the impact of structural poverty is classified into three distinct categories: legal, moral, and social consequences.
