Abstract

Teaching early grade students to read the Quran requires methods appropriate to their developmental characteristics. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the right-brain-based Wafa method in teaching Quran reading to first-grade students at SDIT Al-Fatih Pangkajene. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, homeroom teachers, and students. Data analysis was conducted through data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was tested through triangulation of sources and methods. The results showed that the Wafa method was implemented through enjoyable, systematic, and multisensory learning. The teacher used songs, hand gestures, colorful visual media, letter cards, audio murottal (recitation of Quranic verses), repetition, and positive reinforcement to help students recognize the hijaiyah letters, recite them, and build reading confidence. Observations showed that most students were enthusiastic, happy, and active, and were able to master the basics of the hijaiyah letters. This method also strengthens students' learning motivation, self-confidence, and emotional connection with the Quran. Thus, the right-brain-based Wafa method has proven to be relevant as an effective, enjoyable, and appropriate Quranic learning strategy for early elementary school students.

Abstract

In multilingual English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms, students often draw on multiple linguistic resources to support comprehension and interaction during collaborative learning activities. However, translanguaging practices within structured cooperative learning techniques, such as the Jigsaw method, remain underexplored in Indonesian higher education contexts. This study investigates how students employ translanguaging during Jigsaw-based collaborative activities and how they perceive its role in supporting their participation and understanding in an Indonesian EFL classroom. The study adopted a qualitative classroom-based case study design conducted at a pesantren-based university in East Java, Indonesia. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five fifth-semester students who participated in Jigsaw learning activities across different English-related courses. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns in students’ language practices and perceptions. The findings reveal that translanguaging played several important roles in facilitating collaborative learning. First, students used translanguaging to clarify complex concepts and ensure shared understanding during group discussions. Second, translanguaging functioned as peer scaffolding, enabling students to assist classmates by explaining ideas and translating unfamiliar terms. Third, the flexible use of multiple languages helped reduce anxiety and encouraged more active participation in group interaction. Finally, students expressed positive perceptions toward translanguaging, viewing it as a helpful strategy that supported comprehension while still maintaining the importance of English for academic communication. These findings suggest that integrating translanguaging into cooperative learning strategies such as the Jigsaw technique can create more inclusive and interactive learning environments in multilingual EFL classrooms.

Abstract

The phenomenon of hate speech on social media, particularly on platform X, has intensified alongside the increasing level of public interaction within open and largely unregulated digital spaces. This condition not only generates communicative conflicts but also shapes complex social experiences for individuals, particularly in relation to identity, emotion, and power relations. This study aims to gain an in-depth understanding of how hate speech is constructed, interpreted, and negotiated by users within the context of digital interaction. Employing a qualitative approach with a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and digital document analysis involving 10–15 active users of platform X who have experienced hate speech. Data were analyzed thematically by identifying patterns of meaning emerging from participants’ experiences. The findings reveal three major themes: hate speech as a lingering yet normalized emotional experience; discourse as a site for the reproduction of power and identity delegitimization; and self-negotiation strategies employed by participants to survive within digital spaces. These findings indicate that hate speech operates not only at the linguistic level but also in shaping users’ social and psychological realities. Theoretically, this study reinforces Critical Discourse Analysis by emphasizing the importance of subjective experience in interpreting discursive practices. Practically, it contributes to the development of digital literacy, content moderation policies, and efforts to create more inclusive and reflective communication spaces in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the politeness strategies used in interactions among sisters in Louisa May Alcott’s novel Little Women. Using Brown and Levinson’s (1987) politeness theory as an analytical framework, this study identifies and classifies the forms of politeness strategies that emerge in the conversations of the four main characters: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March. The research data consists of dialogic utterances purposively selected from the novel’s text. The results indicate that all four politeness strategies on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record are present in the interactions among the sisters, with positive politeness being the most dominant. The dominance of this strategy reflects the closeness of their relationship, solidarity, and mutual respect among the characters. Additionally, the choice of politeness strategies is also influenced by factors such as social distance, age differences, and situational context. This study contributes to the understanding of language use in a literary context, particularly in depicting the dynamics of family relationships through character interactions.

Abstract

He rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed human life, particularly in the way information is accessed, processed, and distributed. While this development brings numerous benefits, it also generates serious challenges such as information overload, misinformation, and the decline of critical thinking skills among digital users. This study aims to examine the relevance of the philosophical thought of Al-Kindi on intellect (aql) and knowledge in addressing these contemporary issues within the digital era. The research employs a qualitative approach through library research, analyzing classical philosophical texts and contemporary scholarly works related to epistemology and digital literacy. The findings show that Al-Kindi positions intellect as the primary faculty of human beings in understanding truth and organizing knowledge systematically and rationally. According to Al-Kindi, knowledge must be grounded in logical reasoning to achieve certainty and clarity. In the context of the digital era, this perspective is highly relevant as individuals are required to critically evaluate vast and unfiltered information circulating in digital spaces. This study concludes that Al-Kindi’s rational philosophy provides a strong intellectual foundation for developing digital literacy, strengthening critical thinking skills, and promoting responsible engagement with technology in modern society.

Abstract

This final work is a digital painting work that raises the concept of a shell as a metaphor for a house where a house is not only a physical structure but also something built within oneself. Like a shell that a snail always carries, the shell becomes a house as a form of protection so that the snail will feel safe wherever it is. By making a snail shell as a metaphor for a house, it can remind how important the figure of the house is in this digital painting work. The creation of this work follows the method proposed in the art consortium which consists of five stages of creation. These stages include preparation, elaboration, synthesis, realization of the concept, and completion. From all these stages, 10 digital painting works were produced which were then printed, including those with the titles: "Regenerasi", "Bound by Time Draw By Life", "Resiliensi", "Metamarfosis Waktu", "Harga Yang Harus Dibayar", "Meleleh", "Ambang", "Imobilitas", "Dialektika Meteorik", "Bound by Shelter".

Abstract

Parental conflict is a significant risk factor that threatens the psychological well-being of adolescents. This study aims to review the relationship between parental conflict and anxiety levels in adolescents through a qualitative literature approach. Various research findings consistently show that high-frequency and high-intensity parental conflict contributes to increased anxiety, emotional insecurity, and maladaptive coping in adolescents. The mechanisms underlying this relationship include the emotional security theory, the cognitive-contextual framework, and the spillover hypothesis, each of which explains how conflict in the family system propagates psychologically to children. The results of this literature study confirm that adolescents who are regularly exposed to parental conflict show a significantly higher risk of developing generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and related internalizing problems. The family environment, particularly the quality of the parental relationship, is the dominant proximal determinant of adolescent mental health. Furthermore, parental conflict has been shown to undermine parent-child attachment, destabilize family functioning, and trigger chronic stress responses in adolescents who are still developing emotional regulation capacities. In the Indonesian context, this problem is particularly urgent given the high prevalence of mental health disorders among adolescents aged 15–24 years. Therefore, integrated preventive interventions involving families, schools, and mental health professionals are urgently needed.

Abstract

The concept of mahabbah (divine love) is one of the pinnacles of achievement in the Sufism tradition that marks the existential closeness between man and God. In the context of prophetic literature, this concept is not only present as an individual spiritual experience, but also undergoes a transformation into a communicative aesthetic and ethical discourse. This study aims to examine the transformation of the concept of mahabbah in Kuntowijoyo's poems by placing them in a prophetic literary framework that emphasizes the dimensions of transcendence, humanization, and liberation. The method used is literary hermeneutics with an interpretive approach to uncover the layers of symbolic meaning in the text. The data is in the form of selected poems that represent the themes of spirituality, Divine love, and human relationship with God. The results of the study show that the concept of mahabbah in Kuntowijoyo's poems undergoes a transformation from the concept of classical Sufism which is esoteric in nature to a more contextual and communicative symbolic expression. This transformation is seen through the use of symbols of love, longing, sincerity, and sacrifice that represent not only man's vertical relationship with God, but also a horizontal relationship with fellow humans. Thus, mahabbah in prophetic literature does not stop at the mystical dimension, but moves towards social praxisis oriented towards human values. This research confirms that poetry functions as a dialectical medium between spiritual experience and social reality, as well as a means of transforming transcendental values into concrete life.

Abstract

Embroidery learning in fashion design education requires technical mastery, creativity, perseverance, collaboration, and the ability to produce aesthetically valuable products. However, student motivation often decreases when practical learning is dominated by lecturer explanation and imitation of examples. This study aims to determine the effect of Team-based Projects in embroidery learning on student learning motivation. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 60 students divided into an experimental class and a control class. The experimental class received team-based project learning, while the control class followed conventional individual practice. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire based on intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and amotivation. The data were analyzed through normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample t-tests, independent sample t-tests, and simple linear regression. The findings showed that the experimental class’s motivation score increased from 67.83 to 82.37 after the treatment. The independent sample t-test revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes, with a p-value < 0.001. Regression analysis also confirmed that Team-based Projects positively affected student learning motivation. These results indicate that team based embroidery projects create more meaningful, collaborative, and challenging learning experiences.

Abstract

The phenomenon of celebrations in rural communities is currently experiencing a significant cultural shift, marked by the dominance of modern entertainment and the rise of alcohol consumption. This phenomenon indicates a degradation of socio-Islamic values and a weakening of social control based on religious and customary norms. This study aims to analyze the transformation of socio-Islamic values in the practice of celebrations accompanied by entertainment and alcohol consumption in rural environments. Using a qualitative approach using a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted thematically using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes stages of condensation, data presentation, and verification of conclusions. The results reveal that the meaning of celebrations has shifted from a socio-religious ritual to an arena for displaying social status and mere entertainment. The practice of alcohol consumption has begun to normalize, particularly among young people, driven by the tide of modernization, pressures of social prestige, and the waning authority of religious and traditional leaders. This study concludes that celebrations have become a space for contestation between tradition, Islamic values, and modernity, impacting fundamentally the social structure of rural communities.
