Abstract

This article discusses the socioeconomic and political interplay in the Sama community in Mindanao. Through a comprehensive understanding of their historical background, this article aims to present policies for sustainable development of the long-aspired unified Sama community. A semi-systematic of secondary sources and major works about the Sama was conducted to reveal and outline the importance of identity, access to basic social services, and political representation and participation in ensuring sustainability. An integrative approach to the discussions highlighted from the International Bangsa Summity was also analyzed patterned from the analyses drawn after the systematic review. Interestingly, the analyses from both the semi-systematic and integrative reviews coincided. The article recommends that policies must be developed to support the Sama community through enhanced access to basic social services to develop and enkindle a sense of community, forging a sustainable sense of unity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of online games on fifth-grade students' learning motivation in Pancasila Education subjects at SD AL-Madani Prima, Ciparay District, Bandung Regency. The background of this study is based on the phenomenon of increasing intensity of playing online games among elementary school students which is suspected of having an impact on decreasing learning motivation. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving 30 students, 2 Pancasila Education teachers, and 6 parents of students as participants. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using NVivo 14 software. The results showed that most students had the habit of playing online games every day for a fairly long duration, especially on weekends. The negative impacts found included decreased learning concentration, reduced time to do assignments, and decreased participation in learning. However, there were also positive impacts, such as increased cooperation and problem-solving skills in some students. The role of teachers and parents is very important in managing this habit through limiting playing time, an interesting pedagogical approach, and intensive communication. It is recommended that schools implement gamification-based learning strategies to increase students' learning motivation. This study provides important insights for schools, teachers, and parents in managing the influence of online games on learning and designing educational interventions that are more adaptive to technological developments.

Abstract

The basic assumption of the rational choice approach is that humans are basically selfish, rational, and always try to maximize utility and profit for themselves. In this view, individuals as actors are assumed to have a series of special property rights (set of properties), including certain tastes or preferences. This is also applied in political participation, where rational choice is able to influence actors in participating in politics such as general elections. In its development, Indonesia's political participation level is still experiencing ups and downs due to the low level of public trust in government performance. This has an impact on Gen Z's negative view of the implementation of the Election. Gen Z as a new voter is one of the votes that are taken into account, so this study aims to determine how rational actors own choice in this case Gen Z to participate in politics. Especially in the implementation of the 2024 Sumenep Regency Election. Qualitative methods were used in this study with the results that Gen Z's political participation in the election. The results show the influence of rational choice theory, greatly influenced by their calculations regarding the benefits and costs of participating. Factors such as trust in the political system, relevance of issues, and social involvement greatly determine their decisions. If they feel that their voice can make a significant difference and the process is accessible, they are more likely to get involved.

Abstract

Population administration services are crucial to good governance, requiring efficiency, accountability, and transparency. To address these needs, the Bojonegoro Regency government introduced an innovation called PANAH SRIKANDI (“Pelayanan Ramah Sistem Registrasi Administrasi Kependudukan Desa Integrasi”). This innovation integrates the population registration process at the village level through a user-friendly digital system. This study aims to analyze the implementation and impact of the PANAH SRIKANDI innovation on good governance practices at the Bojonegoro Regency Population and Civil Registration Office. The research used a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with policymakers and service officers, participatory field observations, and program documentation. Findings show that implementing PANAH SRIKANDI improves the effectiveness and efficiency of population administration services. Due to streamlined procedures and a user-friendly interface, the public finds obtaining documents like e-ID cards and family cards easier. This directly increases citizen satisfaction with these services. Village involvement in the system also speeds up resident data verification. The innovation also strengthens service transparency and accountability and encourages active community participation. However, challenges remain, such as training village staff and improving IT infrastructure. In conclusion, PANAH SRIKANDI significantly supports sound governance principles in Bojonegoro's public population administration services. These findings enrich the theoretical discourse on integrated public service innovation at the local level. They have practical implications, serving as a model that other regional governments can replicate in similar contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dual roles of informal female tin miners (“pelimbang”) in Pemali Village, Bangka Regency, within the dynamics of family relationships. The main issue addressed is how women manage the burden of working in the informal mining sector while simultaneously fulfilling domestic responsibilities in a strongly patriarchal cultural context. This research employed a qualitative exploratory case study approach, using in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving female miners and village officials. The key findings reveal that female “pelimbang” utilize interpersonal communication strategies, such as gradual self-disclosure and open discussion, to negotiate their roles within the family. The Social Penetration Theory (SPT) explains the depth of interpersonal relationships developed through layered disclosure, while the Uncertainty Reduction Theory (URT) illustrates how these women reduce domestic tensions arising from unclear role boundaries. The study concludes that interpersonal communication plays a crucial role in maintaining family stability, despite the economic and cultural pressures these women face. These findings contribute theoretically to family communication studies and offer practical implications for policies that support the empowerment of women in the informal workforce.

Abstract

This study evaluated resource use efficiency in catfish production in Ondo East Local Government Area, Ondo State, Nigeria. A multistage sampling technique was employed to select 150 catfish farmers across five purposively chosen communities. Structured questionnaires were used to collect primary data, which were analysed using descriptive statistics, budgetary analysis, and multiple regression models. Findings indicate that the average age of respondents was 45 years, with most being male (80%), married (80%), and formally educated (97.3%). The mean household size was five, and the average farming experience was 11 years. The majority (87.3%) sourced fingerlings through purchase, and over half (51.3%) relied on personal savings as their main capital source. The mean farm size was 6.17 units. Profitability analysis revealed that for every ₦1.00 invested, farmers earned ₦3.90, confirming the viability of catfish farming in the area. Regression analysis identified fingerlings, feed, labour, and pesticides as significant inputs influencing output (p < 0.05), while farm size and fertiliser had no significant effect. Efficiency analysis showed underutilization of fingerlings (12.6) and pesticides (1.2), while inputs such as feed, labour, fertiliser, and farm size were overutilized. Major production constraints included limited access to credit (98.7%), high feed costs (97.3%), and pollution (83.3%). The study concludes that while catfish farming is profitable, inefficiencies and structural challenges persist. It recommends improving farmers’ access to credit, promoting investment in fingerlings, and encouraging youth participation to enhance productivity and reduce rural unemployment.

Abstract

Urban medians in rapidly growing cities like Bhubaneswar, Odisha, offer valuable yet underutilized opportunities for integrating climate-resilient green infrastructure. Despite facing harsh conditions—intense heat, compacted soils, limited root space, pollution, and water scarcity—these strips can serve as effective microclimate buffers. Given Bhubaneswar’s tropical climate and vulnerability to heatwaves, strategically selecting hardy, low-maintenance plant species is essential for transforming medians into functional, sustainable urban assets. This review analyzes the ecological and infrastructural conditions of Bhubaneswar’s urban medians, identifies essential plant traits for survival in high-stress environments, and recommends suitable native and adaptive species. It also highlights global and local case studies, proposes heat-mitigating design strategies, and explores options such as smart irrigation and modular planting. Emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration, the review positions median planting as a vital component of Bhubaneswar’s climate resilience efforts and suggests pathways for future research and sustainable urban greening policies.
