Abstract

This study used a qualitative descriptive design of a systematic review of Scopus-indexed journals on fraud detection and prevention from 2021-2025, and the result was 39 relevant articles. The results highlight that fraud prevention and detection both require a harmonized approach through internal auditing, internal controls, technology solutions, and organizational factors like leadership and professional skepticism. The use of sophisticated technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, and big data analytics significantly enhances detection capabilities, especially in the case of financial transactions. Besides internal control systems, auditor skills, and whistleblower systems, there are also significant roles to be played. Ethical concerns, such as privacy and transparency issues within AI-driven systems, have been noticed as well. Managerial implications consist of keeping organizational internal controls robust, utilizing technological tools, and encouraging a culture of skepticism as well as ethical governance. Future research may focus on the long-term effectiveness of these methods, such as ethical considerations in AI, sectoral applications, and the cost-effectiveness of implementing these solutions in resource-constrained environments.

Abstract

The study was conducted in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria, to analyze food security and poverty among rural farming households. A total of 120 households from six communities were selected using a multistage sampling technique. Primary data was collected through a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, expenditure approach, and multiple regression analysis were used for data analysis. The study found that the average age of farmers was 37.8 years, indicating a young and potentially productive population. Approximately 70% of the rural farming households were male. The average household size was 7, and the average farm size was 1.28 hectares. The households had an average income of N230,005 and a food security index of 1.5, suggesting they were food secure. However, the households were moderately poor. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the gender of the household head, household size, income, and years of education were significant factors in explaining variations in food security, accounting for 70% of the variation. Correlation analysis indicated a significant negative relationship (-0.866) between food security and poverty status, implying that an increase in poverty would decrease food security. Based on these findings, it is recommended that rural households prioritize food production and other productive activities. Promoting formal education among rural households and providing credit facilities to encourage agricultural production would also enhance food security

Abstract

The concept of organizational commitment has gained currency over the last few years and has become the primary cornerstone in both management and behavior sciences. To this importance, this paper strived to shed light on the concept of organizational commitment in higher education and review of some related models and theories of organizational commitment. The paper concludes that organizational commitment is essential in any institution because highly organizationally committed staff can demonstrate positive work behaviors. The paper reviewed several models of organizational commitment. O'Reilly and Chatman’s model concluded that commitment took three types: compliance, identification, and internalization. Morrow’s model identifies five major commitments: affective organizational commitment, continued organizational commitment, career commitment, employee involvement, and work ethic. Etzioni’s model of organizational commitment encompasses three perspectives, namely: moral commitment, calculative commitment, and alienative commitment. Meyer and Allen’s three-component model referred to as being affective, continuance, and normative commitment.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to determine the individuals and variables causing Bangladesh's vegetable supply chain price volatility. This study seeks to explain unjustifiable price rises for vegetables, which are vital for nutritional balance and achieving daily dietary needs. To answer the research topic, the study uses qualitative and quantitative data.   From January 2024 to May 2025, questionnaires, KIIs, and focus group talks were used to collect data in Bogura. Also studied were policy documents and market price notifications. According to the study, popular vegetables are more likely to fluctuate in wholesale and retail prices. In the actor and factor domains, wholesalers, retailers, and intermediaries caused the price increase. Due to policy gaps in market regulation frameworks, a lack of open monitoring, and inadequate institutional responsibility, these firms drive up prices to maximise profits. The study identified corruption by government officials and private market actors like wholesalers and merchants is essential to this issue. Ineffective traditional market management regulation led to the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection. A comprehensive policy framework that assures rigorous market regulation, transparency, and accountability to minimise unexpected and undesirable price rises while protecting consumer rights and happiness is proposed in this paper.

Abstract

The development of Islamic boarding schools is seen from the number of students and members of the community who study Islamic religious knowledge. Students themselves can understand Islamic teachings perfectly thanks to the support of a culture of reading and writing developed and facilitated by the kiai as the main manager in the Islamic boarding school. The role of the kiai does not stop at the form of support and provision of facilities, but also has a high interest and habit in reading and writing. This leadership model inspires a culture of reading and writing in the Islamic boarding school environment. This research is qualitative supported by a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis was then conducted, including data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validation was conducted through credibility, transferability, defendability, and confirmability tests. This research focuses on the supervision model developed by the kiai at the Al Falah Islamic Boarding School. The supervision model implemented by the Al Falahh Islamic is inspired by the leadership of the kiai as the primary administrator of the Islamic boarding school, over the structural officials within the Annuqayah area. It also inspires supervision by the library manager through coordination with other regional libraries. It also includes internal and external supervision in selecting students' writings before publication. It also includes supervision within the educational institution.

Abstract

This study sought to advance our understanding of the anthropomorphic features of artificial intelligence (AI) and its usability in research and society, in general. Specifically, this study examined how ‘institutional’ is the interaction between an AI tool (PDFgear Copilot) and the human researcher during an AI-integrative process of a systematic literature review. In the final screening process, a total of 104 publications were found relevant and chatted with PDFgear Copilot for the summarization of the methods, sample, theoretical foundations, and findings. The conversations from these chats were analyzed using the features of institutional interaction by Drew & Heritage (1992). The results revealed that AI exhibits a ‘normative response’ in 96 research articles and 8 with a ‘disruptive response’ in the conversation sequence organization. When given follow-up questions, it was observed in 17 research articles that AI showed more anthropomorphic traits with similarity to ordinary conversation when AI expressed a degree of uncertainty and answer limitation. Overall, this study provides implications for information technology professionals in advancing AI’s human-like features and for researchers in further exploring the possibility of utilizing AI in research.

Abstract

This study examines the dominant faith in God among major religious communities—Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam—and explores how scientific inquiry challenges this faith across diverse cultural contexts. It explores the evolution of belief systems from historical origins to the present transitional phase characterized by the rise of secular epistemology. The research further examines the conflicting perspectives between theist and atheist groups, assessing the extent to which these worldviews have shaped societal norms and individual livelihoods. Ultimately, the study concludes by contrasting theological conceptions of God with empirical, fact-based understandings, highlighting the implications of this epistemological shift on contemporary society.

Abstract

The village government has the main obligation to carry out physical development in order to improve the welfare of the village community. The role of the village head as a leader greatly determines the success of development, especially in creating equity and encouraging community participation. This study aims to analyze the leadership style of the Head of Durian Village, Padang Cermin District, Pesawaran Regency, in improving the physical development of the village in 2021. The research used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews with nine informants consisting of village officials and communities. The results of the study show that the leadership style applied tends to be participatory, shown by the involvement of the community in village development planning deliberations (Musrenbang) and direct communication between village heads and residents. However, the application of this participatory style is not optimal because there is still a development gap between hamlets, especially between the more advanced Tegal Arum Hamlet and the underdeveloped Pakuan Hamlet. Low levels of awareness, differences in education and economic conditions, and the apathy of the community are also obstacles to participation. The conclusion of this study confirms that although participatory leadership has been sought, its effectiveness is still limited and has not been able to evenly distribute development as a whole. The implication of these findings is the need for a more adaptive, communicative, and inclusive leadership strategy so that community participation can increase and village development can run more evenly and sustainably.

Abstract

This study examines the social consequences of witchcraft accusations in Zanzibar with reference to how such accusations affected marriage, family (Divorce) and community cohesion. The study intends to learn the functioning of beliefs in witchcraft as a mechanism of stigma and social control and symbolic domination in the current Islamic and Swahili cultural systems. Depending on the analysis of secondary data and using only the qualitative exploratory design, the study relied on academic sources, ethnographies, nongovernmental organizations report, and policy documents on witchcraft beliefs and family dynamics in Africa. The analysis of data was performed thematically with references to the theory of stigma by Goffman and Bourdieu, notions of habitus and symbolic power. Findings show that witchcraft accusations divide marriages, promotes divorce, leads to gender inequality, intergenerational exclusion, and poverty. They also erode the social welfare systems on the basis of kinship and reciprocity, as well as undermine communal trust. The paper has made contributions to the sociological and policy discussions by the conceptualization of witchcraft as a form of socially organized phenomenon and offers policy-based interventions that are culturally grounded to enhance the inclusion, gender equity, and resilience of the communities in Zanzibar.
