Abstract

This research aims to assess the potential quality and quantity of groundwater in Piru City and its surrounding areas. The survey method involving primary and secondary data analysis was employed, including satellite imagery, thematic maps, and field observations. The key findings are as follows: (1) The potential quantity of groundwater in the research location is approximately 40,512 x 10^6 m³year-1, supporting the demand for clean water until 2020. (2) The quality of groundwater varies, with some portions deemed unsuitable for consumption, particularly in the Waetemen coastal area (high Fe) and Markas complex (low pH). However, the overall water quality remains suitable for agricultural purposes, and it is categorized into three groups with different risks of alkalinity and salinity. (3) Based on the groundwater potential, recommendations include utilization for drinking water, urban development, and agriculture, especially in alluvial plains with high potential in the unconfined aquifer. Conservation zones should be implemented in gently sloping hill areas. In conclusion, this research provides crucial insights for groundwater management and regional development, particularly considering the rapid population growth.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the factors influencing entrepreneurial interest in the community of Negeri Kamarian using a quantitative method and a positivistic approach. The study's population consists of entrepreneurs in the village, with a non-random sample of 40 individuals. The research variables include Self-Motivation (X1) and Family Environment (X2) as independent variables and Entrepreneurial Interest (Y) as the dependent variable, measured using a Likert scale. Primary data were collected through a closed questionnaire, followed by instrument validity and reliability tests. The results of the multiple regression analysis indicate that Self-Motivation significantly influences Entrepreneurial Interest, suggesting that the higher an individual's self-motivation, the greater their interest in entrepreneurship. On the other hand, the Family Environment does not significantly influence Entrepreneurial Interest. Nevertheless, simultaneously, Self-Motivation and the Family Environment jointly affect Entrepreneurial Interest with a significance level reaching 0.000.

Abstract

Cocoa was introduced to Indonesia in 1560, first in Sulawesi, Minasa. Early exports from Manado to Manila in 1825-1838 reached 92 tons, but pest attacks damaged it. By 1928, Ambon had 10,000-12,000 cocoa trees producing 11.6 tons. Maluku, with 1,398,672 hectares of land, offers significant investment potential in the cocoa sector. In Makububui Village, cocoa is the backbone of the economy, but farmers face challenges like pests, climate change, and price fluctuations. Research in Makububui is crucial to improve cocoa productivity and support farmers with more effective policies. The goal is to understand cocoa plant management by local farmers. Descriptive research on cocoa plant management in Makububui Village, West Seram, involves 12 farmers for a month. It focuses on cocoa cultivation practices, including seed preparation, planting, maintenance, and harvesting. Data collection methods include observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses a descriptive approach with presentation in frequency distribution tables. Traditional cocoa management practices include watering, fertilization, pruning, and grafting. However, there is room for improvement, especially in marketing and pest control. Integration of modern technology and broader market access are needed to increase productivity. This research provides insights into cocoa management in rural areas, with recommendations for training and collaboration between government and institutions

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and provide recommendations regarding the empowerment of clean water in Waur Village, Kei Besar District, Southeast Maluku Regency. Although Waur Village has a significant population of 366 households or 1,569 people, efforts by the local government and relevant private institutions to manage clean water are still minimal. This study focuses on three main water sources, namely Faderni, Metan Evav, and Snalut, which often experience drought during the dry season, making it difficult for the community to obtain clean water. The methodology used includes field observations, interviews with respondents, and water sample testing conducted by the Health and Calibration Laboratory Center of Maluku Province. The results of the study show that the three water sources do not yet have adequate facilities, with leaking and uncovered reservoirs, and there is no empowerment process such as water sampling for feasibility testing or health socialization programs related to water management. Water sample tests indicate that water from Faderni, Metan Evav, and Snalut springs has good odor and taste parameters (No Odor and No Taste) and a color level that is still suitable for consumption. This study is expected to be a consideration for relevant parties in making more effective and efficient efforts to empower clean water in Waur Village

Abstract

Land use change is a global phenomenon with significant impacts on the environment, society, and economy, especially in metropolitan areas experiencing rapid urbanization. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of land use change, the driving factors, and the resulting ecological and socio-economic impacts. The method used in this research is a literature review with a qualitative approach. Data were collected from various secondary literature sources, including books, journal articles, research reports, and dissertations relevant to the research topic. The findings indicate that urbanization is the primary driver of land use change, leading to the conversion of green spaces such as forests and agricultural land into urban areas. The impacts of these changes include air quality degradation, increased flood risk, soil degradation, and loss of biodiversity. Case studies in cities such as Jakarta, Bangkok, and Manila illustrate how rapid urbanization transforms urban landscapes and creates complex environmental challenges. This research emphasizes the importance of sustainable land management through the application of landscape-based models that integrate spatial and temporal data to predict future land use changes. Evidence-based policy recommendations are provided to support more sustainable and environmentally friendly development. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of theory and practice in land use change studies and provide a framework that can be applied in various geographical and socio-economic contexts.
