Abstract

This study aims to determine changes in land cover on Community Forest Utilization Business Permits (IUPHKm) before and after the IUPHKm was issued and to determine the socio-economic characteristics of Community Forest management participants in the Bukit Daun Protected Forest at this time. Most of the community forest participants in Kepahiang Regency are still classified as less prosperous. The socio-economic conditions of community forest management participants in the Bukit Daun Protected Forest, Kepahiang Regency, show that the age of community forest permit managers in the Bukit Daun Protected Forest is in the productive age category with relatively low education. It is necessary to carry out intensive outreach activities by the Environment and Forestry Service of Bengkulu Province, UPTD KPHL Bukit Daun, regarding the primary substance and rules of the Community Forest program and implement them in the field so that the public can clearly understand the Community Forest Program.

Abstract

Slum settlements represent a complex social and economic issue many countries face worldwide. This research aims to provide a comprehensive insight into the challenges of slum settlements. The study employs a literature review method to understand the context of slum settlement issues deeply. The research findings highlight that slum settlements are a complex global challenge many countries face, driven by rapid urbanization and high levels of economic inequality. Cooperation between governments, the private sector, and civil society organizations is crucial to address these challenges. Governments play a key role in designing policies, allocating resources, and monitoring slum improvement programs. Through effective collaboration between governments, the private sector, and civil society organizations, holistic and sustainable solutions are expected to improve housing conditions, facilitate access to basic services, and enhance the quality of life for urban residents, with the ultimate goal of sustainably eradicating slum settlements.

Abstract

This study specifically aims to identify and describe the impacts of a landfill site (TPA) in Passo Village, Ama Ory Hamlet, Ambon City. Using a qualitative approach that involves observation, interviews, and documentation, the research data was obtained by detailing several emerging impacts and challenges. The findings reveal that the presence of the landfill has a significant impact on the local community's social environment, such as disrupting daily activities, creating divided opinions and behaviours among residents regarding the landfill, altering lifestyles, and leading to health issues like dengue fever, shortness of breath, itching, and coughing. The welfare of the community around the landfill is also considered relatively concerning; however, work at the landfill does provide an income to support the educational needs of children. The challenges in waste management at the landfill involve the local government, and it is hoped that these can be addressed through efforts such as public awareness campaigns and the recruitment of local labour. Therefore, the government is expected to be more effective in managing the landfill by considering the social and environmental impacts it causes.

Abstract

The peanut plant (Arachis hypogaea L.), which has now become widely cultivated and a primary choice for farmers in Indonesia, is not native to Indonesia. This research was conducted in Seakasale Village, East Taniwel District, West Seram Regency. A systematic approach was used to gather information from respondents. The highest production costs for peanut farmers in Seakasale Village were incurred by three respondents, A.S, D.L, and L.E, with a total cost ranging from Rp. 6,160,000 to Rp. 6,890,000. The lowest production costs were reported by seven respondents, H.L, Y.L, F.M, M.S, A.M, A.S, and I.A, with total costs ranging from Rp. 4,400,000 to Rp. 4,900,000. Two respondents, A.S. and A.M., reported the highest peanut farming income in Seakasale Village, with a total income of Rp. 15,000,000. One respondent, L.E, reported the average income with a total of Rp. 11,250,000, while the lowest income was reported by seven respondents, H.L, Y.L, F.M, D.L, A.S, I.A, and L.A, with a total of Rp. 7,500,000. Based on the B/C ratio analysis, the calculations indicate that the ten respondents listed above have a B/C ratio of less than 1, meaning their peanut farming ventures are unviable and require improvements.

Abstract

Stunting is a serious issue in developing countries like Indonesia, resulting from inadequate nutritional intake and impacting children's physical and cognitive growth. The 2022 Indonesian Health Survey recorded a stunting rate of 21.6%, with the highest prevalence found in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), West Sulawesi, West Papua, and West Nusa Tenggara, while Bali had the lowest prevalence at around 8%. Stunting is not only a physical issue but also affects children's cognitive development, necessitating serious education and intervention. Coastal areas and small islands, including Osi Island in West Seram, are particularly vulnerable to this issue. The research was conducted using various data collection techniques such as questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation and was analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods. The findings indicate an increased community understanding of parasitic infections, greater awareness of environmental sanitation, changes in personal hygiene behaviour, and the use of local deworming medications. This increased knowledge forms the basis for prevention efforts, with a better understanding of parasitic infection causes, symptoms, and risks.

Abstract

Community empowerment in the education sector has become an important focus internationally to improve the quality and access of education for all individuals. A collaborative approach involving schools, families, and communities is an effective strategy for facing educational challenges. The role of society in the academic context is considered essential, goes beyond the boundaries of the classroom, and plays a vital role in supporting the educational process. Community empowerment refers to providing individuals and community groups the capacity to participate actively in the educational process. Collaboration between schools, families, and communities highlights the importance of viewing education as a shared responsibility. Family involvement in education significantly impacts children's academic development and achievement. Collaboration also involves the involvement of local communities as a valuable resource in supporting education. However, challenges such as gaps in the participation of parents from low economic backgrounds or minority groups require special efforts. Effective coordination and communication between various stakeholders are vital in planning and evaluating collaboration. A holistic and sustainable approach is needed to strengthen partnerships between schools, families, and communities to create an inclusive educational environment and stimulate students' holistic growth.

Abstract

Technology integration into education has revolutionized the learning paradigm, driving significant transformations in teaching methodologies and learning experiences. This paper explores the multifaceted impact of digital education, emphasizing its role in addressing the demands of the digital era and enhancing inclusivity in learning environments. A comprehensive review of recent literature highlights the shift towards dynamic and interactive learning facilitated by technology, transforming teachers into facilitators of engaging educational experiences. Personalization approaches utilizing artificial intelligence and data analysis have furthered accessibility and tailored learning experiences to individual student needs, fostering a more inclusive educational landscape. Additionally, online platforms have facilitated cross-cultural collaboration and interdisciplinary learning, enriching global perspectives and expanding access to education. While digital education presents numerous benefits, challenges such as the digital divide and technology misuse require careful consideration. Issues like network instability and technological ablation hinder learning effectiveness, necessitating proactive measures for mitigation. Collaboration among schools, governments, and society is crucial in addressing infrastructure limitations and ensuring equitable access to technology-enhanced education. Furthermore, the strategic integration of online learning tools and applications offers opportunities for enhanced student engagement and personalized learning experiences. Innovative pedagogical strategies, including collaborative learning, educational games, simulations, and multimedia integration, are essential in creating effective and engaging learning environments. In conclusion, navigating the complexities of digital education requires a balanced approach that leverages technology's potential while addressing associated challenges. By fostering collaboration and innovation, education stakeholders can maximize the benefits of technology in preparing students for success in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
