Abstract

Drug abuse remains a severe issue in urbanized cities, particularly in Jakarta, where illegal drug trafficking is common despite preventive actions. With this study, the implementation of a Smart Monitoring System (SMS) as an innovative technology to enhance drug abuse prevention is investigated. As a qualitative study, five key informants from law enforcement, policymakers, public health professionals, technologists, and community leaders were interviewed. The findings identify three major benefits of SMS: real-time tracking, improved integration of information, and increased public participation. However, several challenges such as privacy concerns, technological limitations, and resistance from stakeholders need to be addressed to enable an effective rollout. The study recommends the establishment of clear legislative regulations, infrastructure investment, public education campaigns, and inter-agency cooperation for the optimal utilization of SMS in Jakarta. These findings contribute to the technology-based crime prevention literature and provide pragmatic policy lessons for urban drug control policy.

Abstract

Illegal drug addiction remains a significant public health issue in rural areas, which has limited access to prevention and treatment services. This current research examines the possible of community-level digital interventions as a solution for rural drug abuse issues in rural Central Java. Using a qualitative design, the data were collected from in-depth interviews with six key informants like community leaders, health professionals, a digital literacy expert, and a former drug user. Thematic analysis identified that although digital interventions like online counseling, social media campaigns, and mobile apps have the potential for contribution, their success is hindered by low digital literacy, restricted internet access, cultural stigma, and lack of trust in digital platforms. The results underscore the need for community involvement, hybrid intervention models (blending online and offline) and localized content production to improve digital drug prevention efforts. The study concludes that for digital interventions to be effective in rural communities, they must be developed based on local socio-cultural contexts and integrated with existing community support systems.

Abstract

Character education is one of the important aspects in the learning process in schools, which aims to form positive attitudes and behaviors in students. This article aimed to explore the implementation of character education in Indonesian schools and the challenges faced in its implementation. This study used a qualitative approach with interview methods and observations of teachers, students, and other related parties in several elementary schools. The results showed that character education in schools has been well received by most students, but in practice there are a number of obstacles, such as limited lesson time given to academic materials and lack of consistency in the application of character values. In addition, student resistance to character-based learning is also one of the obstacles that must be overcome. Furthermore, the use of technology in character learning is seen as an effective tool to attract students’ attention and enrich learning methods. The role of teachers is very vital in the success of character education, therefore in-depth teacher training related to the implementation of character in the curriculum that is more relevant to the development of the times is needed. Finally, collaboration between schools, parents, and the community is an important factor in supporting the success of sustainable character education. Therefore, there needs to be increased synergy between related parties to produce the next generation of the nation with strong character and adaptive in facing the challenges of the times.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of study tour cancellations, the digitalization of learning, and alternative educational tourism on student interest in tourism in West Java. A total of 210 students participated in the study, and data were collected using a Likert scale (1-5). The research employs Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS 3) for data analysis to assess the relationships between the constructs. The results indicate that alternative educational tourism has the strongest positive influence on student tourist interest, followed by the digitalization of learning. While the cancellation of study tours also positively affects student interest, its impact is less pronounced compared to the other two factors. The model demonstrates strong explanatory power with an R² value of 0.777 and predictive relevance with a Q² value of 0.771. These findings suggest that alternative tourism experiences and digital learning platforms play a critical role in shaping student interest in tourism, emphasizing the importance of adapting tourism education to current trends in the digital era.
