Abstract

The dental and oral therapist profession carries inherent risks to occupational health and safety, including musculoskeletal disorders like lower back pain (LBP). In Indonesia, LBP prevalence sits at 18%, and data from 2013 reveals that 11.9% of Indonesian healthcare workers suffer from musculoskeletal diseases. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of LBP among dental and oral therapists, both operators and assistants, at the Majalengka Regency Health Center. Using a descriptive approach and purposive sampling, the study enrolled 22 participants in April 2023. Data collection employed questionnaires and the Nordic Body Map (NBM), with analysis relying on the disease prevalence formula. The results yielded striking differences: 100% of operators (11 individuals) reported LBP, while only 72.7% of assistants (8 individuals) experienced the same. This disparity highlights the elevated risk faced by operators, suggesting a need for targeted interventions to address their occupational LBP burden. By streamlining the wording and focusing on key findings, this revised paragraph improves clarity and conciseness. It effectively conveys the study's purpose, methodology, and results, emphasizing the concerningly high LBP prevalence among dental and oral therapist operators.

Abstract

The School Dental Health Program (UKGS) at SDN 212 Harapan in Bandung aims to maintain students' dental health through promotive, curative, and preventive activities but was halted in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study evaluates the program's implementation at SDN Harapan 212 using a descriptive, qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed through transcription, reduction, presentation, and verification. Findings reveal deficiencies in input, such as a lack of human resources (dentists and little dentist) and suboptimal facilities (non-functioning dental units). The organizational structure of UKS/UKGS is not displayed, and there is no parental financial support. In the process, the health center's UKGS program has been halted since 2019, and curative programs are not implemented. Policies like health center SOPs and cooperation MOUs are outdated. However, the program has increased students' understanding of dental care and their independence in maintaining dental hygiene. The study concludes that the UKGS program's implementation is inadequate in terms of input and process. It provides valuable insights for improving the UKGS program in other schools and contributes to the literature on school dental health programs.

Abstract

An alternative strategy to prevent several diseases that may appear in the oral cavity is to maintain healthy teeth and mouth. Unfortunately, there is still a lack of knowledge among Indonesian teenagers regarding the importance of maintaining healthy teeth and mouth. The aim of this research is to find out how well the WhatsApp Blast media works in increasing teenagers' awareness of dental and oral health problems. Thirty-five adolescents in one group participated in a pre-experimental pretest-posttest design research method. Purposive sampling is a sampling method. Adolescents' awareness of maintaining dental health and WhatsApp Blast Media are research variables. Experts in the field of media and materials have tested WhatsApp Blast media. There is a significant difference in awareness between levels before and after intervention, as shown by the results of the Wilcoxon test, which has a p value of 0.000 < 0.05. After the intervention, 82.9% of adolescents had a high level of awareness, compared to 91.4% of adolescents who had a moderate level of awareness before. Abstract

Wound infection after palatoplasty surgery often occurs due to lack of understanding and compliance of parents in performing wound care after palatoplasty surgery. Wound infection prevention procedures must be carried out in accordance with the instructions given by health workers, in order to avoid the occurrence of infection. Compliance of parents can be improved by giving instructions using media, electronic modules are used as one of the media aids that can be used. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of using electronic modules on the level of parental compliance in implementing wound infection prevention procedures after palatoplasty surgery at RSGM UNPAD. This study is a quasi-experiment study, with a Posttest Only Control Group Design research design, the level of parental compliance is measured using a questionnaire of compliance with the prevention of wound infection after palatoplasty surgery. Samples were taken using accidental sampling technique, which is taking samples that meet the criteria. Analysis through the Mann-Whitney U test showed a significant effect with a value (p-value 0.005 <0.05) on the level of compliance of parents of patients who were given electronic modules regarding the prevention of wound infections after palatoplasty surgery. The use of electronic modules affects parental compliance in carrying out procedures for preventing wound infection after palatoplasty surgery. It is hoped that this e-module can be utilized to present information interactively, so that parents are more compliant to follow the recommended procedures.

Abstract

UKGS is a program that aims to improve the level of dental and oral health of school students. Teacher interest and knowledge are factors in the existence of the UKGS program in schools because interest is preceded by knowledge of the intended object, while interest is a desire accompanied by an action. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of teachers' interest and knowledge of the UKGS program. This descriptive study involved a population of 35 teachers, with the sample selected through total sampling. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires. The results indicate that 82.9% of respondents have a very high level of interest in the UKGS program, and 17.1% have a high level of interest. In terms of knowledge about the UKGS program, 65.7% of teachers fall into the good category, 20% into the moderate category, and 14.3% into the low category. The data indicate that most teachers have high interest and good knowledge of the UKGS program. This is attributed to the teachers' strong desire and awareness to improve students' dental and oral health, the ease of accessing various information resources, and their work experience.
