Abstract

The Sangihe-Talaud region hosts several taro varieties whose nutritional compositions in raw, steamed, and fried states remain unknown. This study examined these varieties, their processing methods, and their impact on taro’s nutritional components, encompassing energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, ash, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin C, moisture content, and sensory preferences. The investigation encompassed Macape Marramu, Macape Darrana, and Allae Mawira taro types subjected to raw, steamed, and fried treatments. In this study, the researchers employed a complete randomized design with two factors and four replications. The findings revealed diverse effects of treatments and their interactions on taro’s nutritional profile. Treatment A₁B₂ yielded the highest energy content at 116.6. The maximum protein content was observed in treatment A₂B₂. Treatment A₃B₂ exhibited the highest fat content at 6.87, whereas A₁B₁, while not significantly different from A₂B₁ and A₃B₁, showed lower fat content. Treatment A₂B₂ registered the highest carbohydrate content at 89.27. Treatment A₁B₂ resulted in the highest dietary fiber at 4.28. The lowest ash content was in treatment A₁B₁, while the highest was observed in treatment A₃B₂ at 1.07. Treatment A₃B₂ recorded the highest calcium at 125%. The maximum phosphorus content was noted in treatment A₃B₂, whereas the minimum was in A₂B₀. Treatment A₃B₂ exhibited the highest iron content. The richest vitamin C content emerged in treatment A₂B₂ at 15.79. The lowest moisture content was observed in treatment A₁B₂, which was not significantly different from A₂B₂ (Macape Darrana; fried). Meanwhile, the highest moisture content was observed in treatment A₂B₀.

Abstract

Utilizing white pepper peel waste (Pipper nigrum L.) as compost can minimize the problem of pepper peel waste. This research uses black soldier flies (BSF), the results of which are maggots as fertilizer for the growth of potpourri tomato plants (Lycopersicon pimpinellifolium). The aim of this research is to determine the quality of compost from white pepper skin waste resulting from bioconversion using BSF, and its effect on the growth of potpourri tomato plants. This research used an experimental method by pre-fermenting white pepper skin waste using 50 ml EM4 for 2, 3, 4 weeks and then using it as food for BSF larvae. Next, the cassava results are applied to potpourri tomato plants with P1 (1 kg of soil: 5 kg of cassava 2 weeks), P2 (1 kg of soil: 5 kg of cassava 3 weeks), P3 (1 soil: 5 kg of cassava 4 weeks), P4 (1 kg : 10 kg cashgot 2 weeks), P5 (1 kg : 10 kg cashgot 3 weeks), P6 (1 kg : 10 kg cashgot 4 weeks) and control (soil without cashgot). The data were analyzed using ANOVA via the SPSS 26 application. The cassava application showed that there was a significant effect on the highest plant height P6 (22.98 inches), the highest stem diameter P1 (4.58 mm), the highest number of leaves P3 (108.67 leaves), the highest fruit diameter was P2 (17.97) and the highest fruiting time was P0 (29.75). The highest number of fruit is P1 (13 fruits/plant), the highest fruit weight is P5 (39 grams/plant). In conclusion, P1 treatment is the best quality compost for the growth of potpourri tomatoes which is thought to have N (0.22%), P (0.15%), K (0.01%), C-organic (5.84) and a C/ N (26.5).

Then roast the rice flour and cinnamon, and wash the cardamom and then mash it until smooth, then squeeze it and then extract the juice. Majakerta is a sub-district located in Majalaya sub-district, apart from Majakerta in Majalaya there are also several other sub-districts, namely Biru, Bojong, Majasetra, Neglasari, Padamulya, Padaulu, Sukamaju, Sukamukti, Wangisagara, Cipaku, Rajadesa, and Drawati.

Abstract

According to the Central Statistics Agency for 2019-2021, the harvested area and area of corn plants according to districts/cities, corn production comes from five districts, namely Bualemo district, Gorontalo district, Pohuwato district, Bone Bolango district, North Gorontalo district and Gorontalo city with a total of 377 432.00 ha in 2019, 304 945.00 ha in 2020, and 334 945.00 ha in 2021. By the end of 2022 it is predicted that 340,500 hectares or 27.38 percent of the entire Gorontalo land area will be planted with hybrid corn with a total harvest estimated at 1.61 million tons. This research uses qualitative methods, with primary data sources and secondary data. Corn productivity affects the net income of corn farmers apart from the selling price, where low productivity causes minimal harvest results, so the farmer's income is also low. Apart from that, fluctuations in corn prices are also an obstacle in increasing net income, when corn prices are high farmers get bigger profits. However, when the price of corn falls, farmers' income will also decrease. To increase the competitiveness of corn commodities in Gorontalo Province, it is necessary to invest in improving agricultural technology, opening wider market access, and providing greater government policy support. In this way, corn commodities in Gorontalo Province can become more competitive in both local and international markets.

Abstract

Ethnobotany is the field of science that explains how humans interact with the plants around them. The most common use of plants is as food and medicine. Surawung or basil leaves are one of the plants commonly used as food. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of surawung other than as food. Samples were taken using snowball sampling method in Cinunuk Village. From 30 respondents, about 17% of them used surawung for their health reasons. It is known that surawung leaves have antibacterial bioactive content. Even so, most respondents did not know in detail about the benefits of surawung leaves.

Abstract

Plants living in extreme environments have developed significant adaptations in their reproductive organs to survive and reproduce. These adaptations include structural and functional changes in reproductive organs to overcome harsh environmental challenges such as drought, extreme temperatures, and infertile soil conditions. Examples of these adaptations include cacti with spiny stems and drought-resistant flowers, Arctic willows with their fast flowering times, and pine trees with their vigorous growth and efficient pollen cones. This research explores the mechanisms of plant adaptation in extreme environments, discusses the implications for plant survival and reproduction, and identifies structural and functional changes in reproductive organs in response to environmental stress.

Abstract

Rubber latex is a raw material for Indonesia's strategic plantations and is the largest contributor to the country's foreign exchange after palm oil. Several places in Indonesia have land conditions that are suitable for rubber plantations, one of which is the rubber plantation owned by Perumda Perkebunan Kahyangan Jember. However, in recent years, income from Perumda Perkebunan Kahyangan Jember has continued to decline, so it is necessary to formulate an optimization strategy which is expected to have a positive impact and be able to increase rubber latex production in Perumda Perkebunan Kahyangan Jember. This research uses SWOT and QSPM analysis methods. The results of the research show that there are several factors that influence rubber latex production, both internal and external factors, from these factors several alternative strategies have been produced, including the use of protective umbrellas, producing high quality rubber raw materials, improving production facilities and infrastructure, optimizing technology. for production and promotion. A suitable strategy to be implemented at Perumda Perkebunan Kahyangan Jember is the use of protective umbrellas because the application is quite simple and can function to maintain the quality of production and the quality of rubber latex..
