Abstract

This study aims to analyze communication strategies Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in supporting the economic resilience of coastal communities in Tarumajaya District. Tarumajaya District was chosen as the research location because it is a coastal area with a high level of economic dependence on marine resourcebased micro-enterprises and is vulnerable to income fluctuations and coastal environmental pressures. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Researchers collected data through field observations, in-depth interviews with micro-enterprises, village officials, and CSR program facilitators, as well as analysis of activity report documents and related publications. The research results show that a participatory, dialogic, and contextual CSR communication strategy can improve community financial literacy, encourage the emergence of new businesses based on local potential, and strengthen digital marketing capabilities through the use of social media. A communication strategy that emphasizes two-way interaction, hands-on practice, and ongoing mentoring has proven effective in driving changes in the economic behavior of coastal communities. This research provides practical contributions for governments, companies, and universities in designing more effective and sustainable CSR communication strategies for the economic empowerment of coastal communities

Abstract

In the context of digital intimate relationships, this research looks at user interactions on the dating app Bumble as a platform for non-electoral politics. This research argues that power functions via everyday communicative practices made possible by digital platforms in addition to electoral-focused strategies in political communication studies. Instead of being purely private spaces cut off from power dynamics in the context of platform culture, personal relationships are increasingly social arenas where visibility, recognition, and vulnerability are continuously contested. In addition to interface walkthroughs and an analysis of platform policy documents, the study uses an interpretive qualitative technique that includes in-depth interviews with active Bumble users in urban settings. Intimate digital connections may be analysed as social practices impacted by platform design and governance as well as subjective experiences thanks to this analytical method. The results show that in addition to controlling technical interaction, mechanisms like swiping, algorithmic matching, time-limited conversations, and the "women make the first move" feature represent a type of relational governance that leads to unequal vulnerability, visibility, and acknowledgement. Self-presentation, self-disclosure, and ghosting are examples of how users manage identity, risk, and emotion within complex power structures embedded in platform designs and interactional norms. The results imply that rather than via overt dominance, power is used in digital intimate relationships as micro-political arenas where speed, attentiveness, and behavioural norms are regulated. By including platform governance and politics-as-practice viewpoints into the study of modern digital connections, this paper theoretically expands political communication studies by validating individual communicative activities as a crucial site of political analysis.

Abstract

The interpretation of messages in TikTok content themed around self-harm among Generation Z is important because this platform is increasingly used as a place to express emotions. As a generation familiar with digital culture, Gen Z understands messages not only from direct narratives but also from the symbols, music, and visuals used in the content. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method through in-depth interviews with five informants aged 18 to 24 who are active on TikTok. Data analysis is carried out through the process of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, as well as connecting the findings with New Media Theory, Social Cognitive Theory, and Berlo's Communication Model (SMCR). The research results show that self-harm content is understood not only as an act of self-injury but also as a form of expressing feelings such as loneliness, emotional pressure, and the need for validation. Symbols like “barcode,” dark visuals, mellow music, and short texts become elements that shape meaning patterns among Gen Z. Overall, this study highlights the importance of digital literacy and attention to mental health, from society, parents, educators, to policymakers, so that the meaning of sensitive content like self-harm can be understood and addressed more wisely.

Abstract

During the 2024 Indonesian Presidential Election, a distinct form of support emerged for Presidential Candidate Pair Number 01-Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN). This viral support originated on the X platform (formerly Twitter) through accounts such as @aniesbubble, @olppaemiproject, and @humaniesproject. These accounts described themselves as a grassroots volunteer movement driven by concerns regarding the prevailing domestic political dynamics. Consequently, they sought to conduct civic education and digital campaigning by packaging political information with a K-pop style to make it more engaging. This approach was chosen due to their affinity for K-pop and the belief that conveying ideological messages in this manner would yield significant impact, despite their lack of the vast resources available to other candidate pairs. Their digital efforts successfully generated considerable attention and popularity on social media, particularly on X. However, this momentum did not translate into a victory for AMIN, as they ultimately secured approximately 24% of the vote. This electoral defeat is viewed as a failure of the counter-hegemony attempt in the sense of Antonio Gramsci’s organic intellectuals undertaken by these groups. This study employs an explanatory qualitative method utilizing both primary and secondary data. The findings indicate that the counter-hegemonic efforts by @aniesbubble, @olppaemiproject, and @humaniesproject on X failed to challenge the consensus established by the bourgeois-aligned forces backing Candidate Pair 02. The latter possessed superior resources, including political party coalitions, incumbent support, substantial campaign funding, and the use of influencers, celebrities, and public figures.
