Abstract

This study aims to clarify the concept of self-awareness in menopausal women and examine its relationship with quality of life (QoL) using Walker and Avant’s concept analysis framework. The analysis included articles published between 2021 and 2025, retrieved from databases such as Google Scholar, ProQuest, PubMed, CINAHL, and Science Direct, using keywords “menopause,” “self-awareness,” “quality of life,” and “concept analysis.” The findings reveal that self-awareness in menopausal women comprises interoceptive awareness, cognitive insight, emotional recognition and regulation, health literacy, and adaptive behavioral responses. Antecedents of self-awareness include health literacy, access to information, emotional support, mindfulness experience, and motivation for self-care. Its consequences involve improved symptom management, adaptive coping, reduced anxiety and depression, and enhanced physical, psychosocial, and sexual QoL. Empirical referents identified include MENQOL, MRS, MAAS, MAIA, symptom diaries, and outcomes of mindfulness or self-awareness interventions. The study concludes that self-awareness is a multidimensional construct essential for improving the QoL of menopausal women. Clarifying this concept establishes a theoretical foundation for developing targeted nursing interventions, standardized measurement tools, and future research exploring mechanisms linking self-awareness to QoL.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of the Early Warning System (EWS) in emergency nursing practice as a mechanism to enhance patient safety and clinical responsiveness. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature-based study, this research integrates data from peer-reviewed journals, academic reports, and relevant clinical documents published between 2015 and 2025. Data were collected through systematic literature review and analyzed inductively using thematic identification, data reduction, conceptual categorization, and interpretation to obtain a comprehensive understanding of EWS application in clinical settings. The findings reveal that EWS contributes significantly to early detection of patient deterioration, reduction of unplanned ICU admissions and cardiac arrests, and improvement in nurses’ clinical judgment and interprofessional collaboration. However, challenges such as limited compliance, alert fatigue, and contextual variations in system effectiveness remain obstacles to optimal implementation. The study highlights the importance of continuous education, system customization, and institutional support to ensure sustainable integration of EWS in emergency care. The results contribute to the theoretical enrichment of patient safety frameworks and offer practical guidance for developing adaptive, evidence-based nursing systems. In conclusion, the application of EWS represents a vital step toward advancing proactive, data-informed nursing practices that strengthen patient safety and professional competence in emergency healthcare environments.

Abstract

This study aimed to systematically examine the autoimmune mechanisms contributing to atherosclerosis development in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Sjögren’s syndrome, and Antiphospholipid Syndrome. The focus was on identifying immunological pathways, inflammatory mediators, and vascular changes that accelerate atherosclerosis in these autoimmune conditions. A systematic scoping review was conducted following established scoping review guidelines. Peer-reviewed studies on immune-mediated processes, endothelial dysfunction, lipid changes, or cardiovascular outcomes in autoimmune diseases were sourced from PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, screened via electronic searches and predefined inclusion criteria. Data extraction focused on immune cell involvement, cytokine profiles, mechanisms of vascular injury, and indicators of atherosclerotic progression. The results demonstrated that chronic systemic inflammation is a central mechanism driving accelerated atherosclerosis in autoimmune diseases. Activated immune cells, particularly monocytes, macrophages, and T lymphocytes, were consistently reported to infiltrate the vascular endothelium, promoting endothelial dysfunction and intimal thickening. Pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interferon-gamma were frequently associated with increased expression of adhesion molecules, oxidative stress, and foam cell formation. Altered lipid metabolism, including increased levels of oxidized low-density lipoprotein, further contributed to plaque development. In Antiphospholipid Syndrome, autoantibody-mediated endothelial injury and thrombogenic processes were prominent, while immune complex deposition and complement activation were key contributors in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. Overall, the findings indicate that immune dysregulation and persistent inflammation substantially increase cardiovascular risk in patients with autoimmune diseases, underscoring the need for targeted anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory strategies to reduce atherosclerotic burden

Abstract

This study aimed to review changes in glutathione peroxidase or GPx levels or activity before and after pulmonary tuberculosis treatment. A systematic scoping review was conducted on articles published between 2016 and 2025 retrieved from Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and PubMed. Article selection followed PRISMA guidelines and applied eligibility criteria based on the PICO framework. Six studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. All reviewed studies reported changes in GPx levels or activity after tuberculosis treatment, with most showing an increase in GPx activity following anti-tuberculosis therapy. Several studies also reported that adjunct antioxidant interventions, such as N-acetylcysteine, contributed to enhanced glutathione system function and increased GPx activity compared to standard therapy alone. The observed increase in GPx activity was associated with reduced oxidative stress and improved redox balance during treatment. These findings indicate that GPx has potential as a biomarker for monitoring treatment response in pulmonary tuberculosis. However, variations in study design, sample size, and measurement methods were identified across the included studies. Further well-designed clinical studies with standardized GPx assessment protocols are needed to confirm its clinical utility and to clarify the role of antioxidant supplementation in supporting tuberculosis treatment outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract

Cancer is considered one of the major issues in the twenty-first century. It's one of the leading causes of death and a barrier to life expectancy, globally. Its burden expected to increase worldwide from 2020 and throughout the first half of the 21st century. Nurses as one of the medical team are considered at the frontline in mitigating this increasing, through their contributions in patients care with their diversity of care roles and responsibilities in cancer care. This study aimed to assess oncology nurses level of performance in cancer care in Kirkuk City. Methods, a descriptive (cross sectional) design conducted at Oncology and Hematology Center in Kirkuk City, Iraq. An observational checklist used to collect data of 81 nurse in the time line between February 15th, 2025 to March 27th,2025. Results, nurses showed an overall weak adherence to cancer care protocols in general(PGMS=24.28%), where nurses scored low levels in both the " Supportive and psychological nursing care" and "Nursing care throughout chemotherapy treatments" with a Percentile Grand/Global Mean of Score (PGMS) of 8.80%,and 8.82% respectively; while they showed a moderate level in regard to "Nursing care prior to handling chemotherapeutic agents", (PGMS=56.02%). No relationship accounted between Nurses' performance level and the studied respondent's socio-demographics(age, educational background, and years of experience), since no significant a contingency coefficients are accounted at P>0.05, except in regard of gender variable (CC = 0.249) at the value of P < 0.05,showing a better advantage for male over females. Conclusion: The findings indicates a weak adherence to the protocols regarding cancer patient care, indicating the need for further focus on the provision of continuous trainings. Furthermore, the findings of the study allow us to make the assumption that nurses' age , educational qualification, and experience doesn't necessarily have to play a significant role in the evaluation of nurse competence and quality of nursing care provided in all of the environments.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between hamstring tightness and lumbar hyperlordosis and trunk flexibility in students at Muhammadiyah University Surabaya. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional observational study design involving 30 students with hamstring tightness disorders. Hamstring tightness was measured using the straight leg raise test, the lumbar lordosis angle was measured with a flexicurve, and trunk flexibility was measured using the fingertip to floor test. Data analysis was performed using Pearson Product Moment correlation test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed a significant correlation between hamstring tightness and trunk flexibility with a p-value of 0.00 and a very strong correlation coefficient (R = 0.984), while lumbar hyperlordosis data did not show a significant correlation with trunk flexibility or hamstring tightness. The conclusion of this study confirms that hamstring shortening has a very strong relationship with limited trunk flexibility, but is not directly related to changes in the lumbar lordosis angle. These findings highlight the importance of physiotherapy interventions that focus on increasing hamstring flexibility as a preventive and functional strategy for students with high sedentary activities.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of nurses in managing self-care among patients with diabetes mellitus in medical-surgical services through a comprehensive literature review. Using a qualitative descriptive design, the research employed a library-based approach that analyzed 22 peer-reviewed articles published between 2019 and 2025. Data were collected through systematic literature tracing, document analysis, and thematic synthesis to identify recurring patterns in nursing interventions related to diabetes self-care management. The analysis revealed five dominant thematic areas: (1) diabetes self-management education (DSME), (2) psychosocial and spiritual support, (3) wound and foot care management, (4) family involvement in self-care, and (5) integration of health information technology. The findings demonstrate that nurses play a central role as educators, motivators, and care coordinators in improving patient self-efficacy, treatment adherence, and glycemic control. Moreover, the integration of family support and digital health interventions enhances continuity of care and patient empowerment. These results reinforce the relevance of Orem’s Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory and Bandura’s Self-Efficacy Theory in nursing practice while providing evidence for the holistic and transformative contributions of nurses in chronic disease management. The study concludes that advancing interprofessional collaboration, digital health integration, and culturally sensitive approaches are essential to optimizing diabetes self-care outcomes and enhancing nursing professionalism.
