Abstract

This education aims to analyse the effect of the Guided Inquiry learning model on the understanding of science concepts of seventh grade students of MTs Al-Khairaat Biromaru. This education has an important role in shaping individuals who are intelligent, characterised, and able to compete in the 21st century era. One of the important skills that need to be developed is science literacy, which not only includes an understanding of scientific concepts but also the ability to think critically and reason in a social context. In the context of science learning at the junior high school level, students' understanding of science concepts is still relatively low, as found in class VII of Mts Al-Khairaat Biromaru. This problem is thought to be related to ineffective learning methods. For this reason, this study aims to determine the effect of the guided inquiry learning model on students' understanding of science concepts. The guided inquiry model involves students actively in the problem-solving process with the support of leading questions from the teacher. This research is expected to contribute to improving the quality of science learning and become a reference for educators in choosing the right method. This research uses a quantitative approach, data collection techniques through observation and tests. The data analysis techniques used are normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate that the Guided Inquiry learning model at Mts Al-Khairaat Biromaru affects the understanding of science concepts of seventh grade students. The Guided Inquiry learning model is very influential marked by the results of the t test, namely with a significant value of p (0.001) < ? (0.05). This means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted so it can be concluded that Ha is accepted which means that there is an effect of guided inquiry learning model on the understanding of science concepts of class VII students of MTs Al-Khairaat Biromaru.

Abstract

This research develops the educational game Magnetic Challenge based on Construct 2 as a medium for learning magnetism. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research focuses on needs analysis, media usage, and user feedback. The results show that this game is effective in helping visualize abstract concepts, increasing learning motivation, and deepening student understanding, although there are constraints regarding accessibility, audio, and flexibility of learning styles. Overall, this media is worth using as an innovative and enjoyable alternative for science learning for junior high school students.

Abstract

Improvements in student learning outcomes are highly dependent on the learning strategies used by teachers in the classroom. Conventional, teacher-centered learning methods often result in students being less active and having difficulty understanding the material, especially in biology, which contains many abstract concepts. One solution to overcome this is to combine mind mapping and the Snowball Throwing learning model. Mind mapping helps students summarize and organize information visually, thereby facilitating concept understanding. Meanwhile, Snowball Throwing encourages students to actively participate through question and answer sessions and enjoyable group discussions. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of mind mapping with the Snowball Throwing learning model on biology learning outcomes in the movement system material at Taruna Bhayangkara 2 Public High School. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of mind mapping with the Snowball Throwing learning model has a positive and significant effect on students' biology learning outcomes in the movement system material.

Abstract

The science laboratory administration at MTs Darul Amien, which is still managed manually, causes inefficiencies in equipment lending services, inventory accuracy, and report preparation. This study aims to develop a Science Laboratory Information System based on Google Apps Script to improve administrative efficiency using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 3D model (Define, Design, Develop). Product validation involved 2 material experts and 2 media experts, while testing was conducted on 17 users (2 users in the small group test and 15 users in the large group test). The validation results showed feasibility scores of 93.06% from material experts and 91.32% from media experts, while user responses reached 95.14% in the small group and 88.94% in the large group. In conclusion, the developed Science Laboratory Information System (SILAB-IPA) has been proven valid, feasible, and effective to implement in supporting administrative efficiency and building a modern science laboratory management system at MTs Darul Amien

Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning model implemented by the eighth-grade science teacher at SMPN 2 Jember for the topic of Work and Energy and to evaluate its effect on students’ motivation and understanding. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with the researcher as the primary instrument, supported by interview guidelines and questionnaires. The subjects were one science teacher and 39 eighth-grade students. Data were collected through structured interviews with the teacher and a 4-point Likert scale questionnaire containing six items on motivation and four items on understanding. Data analysis was conducted descriptively using frequency counts and percentages. Interviews indicated that the teacher applied a cooperative learning model to enhance collaboration, interaction, and students’ social skills. Questionnaire results showed most students had positive motivation, with 42.31% Strongly Agree (SS) and 55.98% Agree (S), while 1.71% were Disagree (TS) and 0% Strongly Disagree (STS). Understanding responses were 43.59% Agree (SS), 46.79% While (S), 8.97% Disagree (TS), and 0.64% Strongly Disagree (STS). Findings confirm that cooperative learning improves engagement, enthusiasm, and understanding. This model provides an interactive and enjoyable learning experience, encouraging students to discuss and collaborate actively. Results are valuable for teachers in designing effective strategies and as a reference for further research on learning models effects on motivation and understanding.
