Abstract

In education, there is a close relationship between math skills and understanding of physics concepts. These two subjects are considered the main foundation in science and technology. However, mastering these two areas simultaneously can be challenging for students in higher education. This article investigates the impact of math ability on college students' understanding and performance in solving physics problems. The purpose of this study is to measure the correlation value between mathematical ability and success in solving physics problems and analyze the relationship between students' mathematical abilities in solving physics problems. The study involved 60 students of D-III program in a polytechnic in basic physics course. The results showed a significant correlation between math ability and academic achievement in physics. Students with strong math skills tended to do better in physics. Analysis of students' responses to the math and physics tests indicated that students who were competent in math also performed well in physics, while students who were incompetent in math also faced difficulties in physics. Students who were unable to decipher answers in both subjects indicated the need for a better understanding in the fundamentals of mathematics to improve performance in physics.

Abstract

Molecular sieve (MS) or known as molecular sieve is one of the products that is of concern to researchers today because it has the ability to filter gas or liquid more selectively. Molecular sieve consists of two large groups, namely natural molecular sieve and synthesized molecular sieve. Synthesized molecular sieve is usually processed from zeolite or kaolin rock because it contains high silica and alumina elements. Pyropillite has similarities with zeolite or kaolin where the alumina and silica content is quite high, so pyropillite rocks have the potential to be used as a basic material for making molecular sieve. In this study, pyropillite rock was taken from Sumbermanjing area, South Malang. MS synthesis was carried out by NaOH leaching method. The results obtained from the XRF test for the Al/Si ratio in MS10, MS15, and MS20 were 2.4, 2.2, and 2.3, respectively. XRD results show the formation of 3 phases in the synthesis of MS10 and MS15, namely sodalite phase with cubic crystal system, quartz phase with hexagonal crystal system, and diaspore phase with orthorhombic crystal system, while in MS20 a pure phase is formed, namely sodalite phase. The pore sizes of the BET test results produced on MS10, MS15, and MS20 are 30Å (mesopores), 542 Å (macropores), and 550 Å (macropores), respectively, while the resulting surface areas are 0.350 m2/g, 2.869 m2/g, and 1.176 m2/g. The presence of Si-O-Si bending, Si-O-Al, Si-O, Si-O normal to the plane stretching, Inner Surface Al-OH deformation, SiO-Si siloxine, H-O-H, -OH, C-H stretching, H-O-H bending water groups were determined using FTIR characterization.

Abstract

The main problem faced by Indonesian education is the low quality of education at every level and unit of education. Many factors cause the low quality of education in Indonesia. One of them is the curriculum that has always been centralized, ignoring diversity and only oriented towards mastery of subject matter. Most students have a pattern of learning diligently and painstakingly, but the results obtained are less than optimal and there are types of students who study only approaching exams with unscheduled study time, but get less than optimal results. The solution that can be done is to use the expository learning model, in expository learning the teacher tends to hold the control of the active learning process, while students are relatively passive in accepting and following what is presented by the teacher. Expository learning is a teacher-centered learning, in which the teacher becomes the main source and provider of information with the intention that students can master the learning material optimally. The research method used is quantitative research. The result of the T test Research is 1.684 (> sg 0.05) which states that count> t table means accepting Ho, therefore there is a difference in the effect of the expositosi learning model on learning outcomes in biology subjects that follow out-of-school tutoring for 3rd grade high school students.

Abstract

Macaca fascicularis, or long-tailed monkey, is a primate found in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia. Despite its abundant population, the long-tailed macaque is classified as an over-exploited wildlife. Therefore, conservation efforts are needed to prevent the extinction of the long-tailed monkey population. One of the natural habitats of the long-tailed monkey is located in Telaga Buret, Tulungagung Regency. In this area, the total number of long-tailed monkeys is unknown and has never been studied. Therefore, this study aims to determine the population and behavior of long-tailed monkeys in Telaga Buret using the scan sampling method in certain time intervals. The results showed that the total population of long-tailed monkeys found in the study site was 98 individuals. The observed behavioral parameters include moving activities, vocalizing, foraging, playing, searching, sexual, interaction with humans, aggression, resting and parenting. From the results of the study, the behavior that has the highest index value is moving (38%) while the least behavior is interacting with humans (1%). The high values generated from the percentages indicate how often M. fascicularis performed these behaviors at each time interval.

Abstract

Concern for the environment becomes a supporting factor in biocomposite research. Composite materials that previously used synthetic materials need to be swiftly transitioned into biocomposite materials, where one or all of its constituent materials originate from nature, making it more environmentally friendly and capable of being produced in large and sustainable quantities. However, in its application, biocomposite manufacturers still encounter several problems, especially in the field of mechanical strength. When compared to conventional composite materials, the mechanical strength of biocomposites is still lower. One effort that can be made to improve the mechanical strength of biocomposites is by treating natural fibers that will be used as reinforcement in the biocomposite with chemical processes. One easy and effective chemical treatment to apply is alkalinization using NaOH. This article will discuss a number of theories and research results regarding the influence of NaOH on the mechanical characteristics, specifically tensile strength, of natural fiber-reinforced biocomposites. The analysis process is carried out by gathering several reference sources, including books, scientific articles, and nationally and internationally recognized proceedings. All information from reference sources containing information about biocomposites, NaOH, natural fibers, and tensile strength is analyzed and rewritten in the form of an article.

Abstract

Environmental pollution has emerged as a pressing global issue necessitating urgent attention. Environmental education stands out as a pivotal approach to enhance public awareness regarding the significance of environmental conservation. Learning materials addressing environmental pollution play a crucial role within environmental education frameworks. This article aims to critically analyze recent research concerning environmental pollution learning materials. Employing a literature review methodology, this study examines recent literature pertinent to environmental pollution learning materials. The analysis reveals that effective environmental pollution learning materials should consider the social, cultural, and environmental contexts of the students. Furthermore, these materials should be presented in an engaging and interactive manner to facilitate better comprehension and retention among students. This research provides recommendations for the development of more effective and relevant environmental pollution learning materials tailored to the needs of students. It is anticipated that this study will make a positive contribution to the advancement of environmental education and efforts towards fostering a better environment.
