Abstract

Arabian sidr leaves (Ziziphus spina-christi L.) contain secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and phenolics, which have the potential to act as antibacterial agents. This study was designed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of a hand sanitizer formulation containing aqueous extract of Ziziphus spina-christi leaves (EADBA). The stability of the hand sanitizer was assessed through organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, hedonic evaluation, and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus using the phenol coefficient method. The antibacterial test was conducted by observing turbidity in a bacterial suspension after the addition of the sample at minutes 5, 10, and 15. Results indicated that the EADBA hand sanitizer remained physically stable during four weeks of storage at both cold (4±2°C) and room temperature (±25°C). Formulations F1 and F2 demonstrated antibacterial activity equivalent to that of phenol, as evidenced by a phenol coefficient value of one.

Abstract

Abstract: Stroke treatment is very expensive. The number of stroke cases increases every year. Policymakers need data regarding the amount of costs incurred for stroke treatment to develop problem-solving strategies related to the financial impact of stroke. This study aims to determine the health costs of stroke patients in Indonesia. Stroke treatment costs were taken from the Garuda Portal database and National Library e-resources using the keywords "cost" AND "stroke"; “cost of illness” AND “stroke”. The results of the narrative review showed that 15 articles were included in the inclusion criteria. Cost expenditure analysis is divided into three categories, direct medical costs, direct non-medical costs, and indirect costs. The cost of stroke treatment varies greatly between hospitals. Drug and hospitalization costs are the largest components of stroke expenditure. The factors that influence stroke treatment costs include age, length of stay, secondary diagnosis, severity, comorbidities and class of treatment.

Abstract

Abstract: The quality of prescription services plays a crucial role in determining patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services. Waiting time is one of the indicators of prescription service quality, as patients tend to feel satisfied when the waiting time for prescription services is not excessively long and meets the established standards. This study is descriptive observational in nature, focusing on a specific sample of outpatient prescriptions at RS X Tanjungpinang. Data were collected through observations during both peak and non-peak hours and analyzed using statistical analysis methods. The results indicate that the average waiting time for non-compounded prescription services during peak and non-peak hours is 8 minutes and 10 seconds. This suggests that RS X Tanjungpinang meets the waiting time standards for prescription services as outlined in Minister of Health Regulation No. 34 of 2016.

Abstract

Abstract: Extraction of natural medicines can not only extract chemical components from the sample, but also be a guideline in determining yield value (extract). One of the extraction methods is digestion. The purpose of this research is to optimize the digestion extraction time and determine the high yield value of blue porterweed (Stachytarpheta jamaecensis) leaf extract obtained. Horse whip leaf extract (EPK) was obtained by digestion at 2 (D1), 4 (D2) and 6 (D3) hours at 40oC using 70% ethanol solvent, the ethanol extract was evaporated with a rotary vaccum-evaporator 10 degrees below its boiling point to become a thick extract. Each extract was weighed and the yield value was calculated. The results of digestion extraction obtained the yield value of EPK in D1 = 12,4%; EPK in D2 =  15,36%, and EPK in D3 = 12.3%. Extraction optimization using the digestion method can be used as a reference for the development of herbal medicines for  traditional medicine manufacturers.

Abstract

Abstract: Jamu pegal linu (tradisional Indonesia medicine)  is one of the herbs used to treat aches and pains by the Indonesian people. The galangal  is often found in the composition of jamu pegal linu (JPL). The purpose of this study was to identify by TLC the presence of galangal  (Alpinia  galanga/AG) in JPL  from the  Pinrang city, Province of South Sulawesi. Methods:   Jamu pegal linu that included  AG  in the label was collected from jamu shops in Pinrang city. Each jamu sample was extracted with 96% ethanol for 24 hours, as well as  AG. The extracts were then evaporated until thick. Each viscous extract was analyzed  on a plat TLC (thin layer chromatography) plate with a stationary phase of silica gel GF254, and a mobile phase of n-hexan-ethyl acetate (8:2), then detected using UV lamp 254 nm and 366 nm wavelenght, and calculated the Rf (Rate of flow) value. The results showed that herbs A, B, C, D, and E were identified as containing at Rf 0,38; 0,87 dan 0,95 after detection in UV 366 nm, and AG at Rf ..... in UV 254 nm detection. The identification of these herbs can be used as a reference for producers and consumers to confirm the correctness of the composition of AG  rhizome  in jamu pegal linu.

Abstract

An investigation examined the anti-inflammatory effects of the methanol extract from the Sijangkang rhizome (Hornstedtia scyphifera var. Fusiformis Holttum) on male albino rats that were induced with 1% carrageenan at a volume of 0.2 ml/rat. The tool used in this test is a Plethysmometer with a working principle using Archimedes' law. A Plethysmometer is a tool used to measure edema volume. The way it works is based on measuring the volume of fluid due to the immersion of the organ whose degree of inflammation is measured into mercury liquid. The working principle is that if an object is dipped into a liquid, the object will get an upward pressure equal to the liquid that is pushed by the object. From the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the methanol extract of sijangkang rhizome has anti-inflammatory activity. The research conducted is an experimental study using 12 test animals consisting of 4 treatment groups, namely 1 negative control group (aquadest), and 3 groups of test substances methanol extract of sijangkang rhizome. The doses used were 2 mg/200 g BW/5 ml, 4 mg/200 g BW/5 ml, and 8 mg/g BW/5 ml. The negative control group and the test group with doses of 4 mg/200 g BW and 2 mg/200 g BW showed a very high and continuously increasing percentage of edema formation. This was due to the fact that the negative control group received only distilled water, while the test group was administered a small amount of the test substance that failed to prevent edema formation. In contrast, the test substance, at a dose of 8 mg/200 g body weight/5 ml, exhibited anti-inflammatory properties.

Abstract

Medication planning is a crucial component of the medication management process in pharmacies. Poor drug planning can lead to budget inefficiencies in procurement, resulting in ineffective spending and unavailability of medicines in the right quantity and at the right price. This study aims to analyze the ABC classification of medications at Aletheia Pharmacy, Semarang. A quantitative descriptive method was used by collecting and analyzing all sales data to describe how drug planning and procurement are conducted, using retrospective data and available sales documents from January to December 2024. The ABC method begins with collecting pharmacy sales data, followed by calculating the percentage contribution of each item to the total sales value. The medications are then grouped into three categories: Category A for high-value items, Category B for medium-value items, and Category C for low-value items. Planning is then carried out by prioritizing Category A medications, while Categories B and C are managed with simpler approaches. From the analysis, a total of 1,260 medication items were identified. Category A consisted of 369 items (29.3%) with an investment value of Rp. 271,123,000 (70.96%). Category B included 425 items (33.7%) with an investment value of Rp. 76,369,000 (19.99%). Category C comprised 466 items (37%) with an investment value of Rp. 34,422,100 (9.01%).
